Greetings to all,
I recently installed MIUI 3.10 rom.. The problem I face is the low internal memory.. it's 24MB. I would like to know if I can increase it. I tried Ungazed's method with no result. Rom's android version is 4.2.2.
Thanks in advance for your help.
can you tell us the sizes of your partitions? expecially /system one?

For the system partition I used 290MB. To the sd card I created 2 primary partitions, 1 FAT32 @3gb and 1 ext4 @512MB

you can try to increase system partition to 325 for example and the ext4 on sd to 1 GB...
can you link the rom's thread?

Hi,
My phone was flashed CM6.1.0 (12/06/2010), and my TF card was partition by ROM Manager, 1st partition is FAT, 2nd partition is EXT3 512MB, 3rd is SWAP 64MB.
CyanogenMod Settings--Application settings--Install location--External
The software was installed in 1st partition FAT, not EXT3. why???
Thanks adv. and sorry for bad english.

There are ways to get the a2sd running on CM6.1, but the default SD storage of apps is based on Froyo's own storage method on a FAT partition on the card. I've never done much with this, but I've read several places it's prone to corruption if you mount your phone as a drive and don't "eject" the media before unplugging, etc.
I'm a little confused about this. I have a 2GB SD card and I've flashed imilka's Incredible Sense rom to my HD2. The phone only has about 37 MBs of Internal Memory. I know that Desire HD and Incredible roms take up more memory than the original Desire rom, MIUI, or CM7.
I am wondering, did I do something wrong? (1024 SD card partition, CWM 350 recovery, etc) or is this because I only have 2 GBs of SD card storage (if so, should I stick to CM7, MIUI, or original Desire roms)?
that's because you're using a 400mb /system partition (which i assume is what your rom requires).
Have you partitioned your sd correctly?
There is a manual for that somewhere on xda.
do you have an eu or tmous device?
Did you make a ext partition of 1gb?

I think I have. I partitioned my SD card through CWM.
Although, I'm not really sure what partitioning my SD card does.

The problem was not with how to format, it was with how to mount the ext3 that was already created . I have a card with FAT32 and EXT3 partitions, I am unable to mount the EXT3 as my SD card, I was hoping someone could provide an answer for this.

You mean your ROM automatically detected the EXT3, if yes then which ROM is this ?

Are you sure that you created it as a second partition and as a primairy (instead of a logical)?

Which roms are you trying it with? Have you tried other cards?
Format the card using Panasonic SDFormatter..
Format: FULL (Overwrite)
Size Adjustment: ON
Now partition again using CWM, 1GB space and 0MB swap.
Yes i had tried 2 cards 16Gb and 2GB now i will try again.
PS: I'm using Typhoon now.

That looks like it should be correct.
Give rafdroid 4.02 a try, that is the one I use and which shows the the correct size for sure.

Hi,
I think you are confusing the different sections of space on the phone.
Get yourself Titanium Backup, and it will list the different storage spaces you have:
System ROM
Internal
SD card
SD card(a2sd) or EXT.3 partition in your case.
The 100MB you see is internal free space.
You can then how much space you have on your EXT. and what is being used.

make sure you clean out the old rom before booting the new rom, , in CWM choose 'wipe data/factory reset', then 'wipe cache', then 'advanced - wipe dalvik cache'

HTC HD2 EXT3 partition not showing up
Hi,
I just installed miui 6.9.29. Everything is working fine but one thing: the ext3 partition i created in CWM (512 mb, 0 mb swap) does not show up as internal storage. I tried to mount it in CWM, but still no luck . Can someone please help me? I really need more than 115 mb of internal storage, since there is only 23.54 mb available. Pretty stupid actually because i only want about 3-4 apps more..
Please help!

How do I format the SD card as Ext4 and then make a partition of about 750mb on it?
If you have a card reader you could just boot your computer with linux (live cd or usb stick) and use linux tools (gparted etc) to partition the card.

Do I need a card reader, I put my phone in Disk Drive and then tried gparted but it couldnt find it, Il try a card reader tonight!
You can actually just connect via USB. Then right click on it in Linux and chose Format. Then go into the advanced options. (I use Ubuntu and have used LinuxMint in the past)

If the rom you're using supports A2SD (every rom doesn't) there's probably instructions in the thread for that. Here's from LeeDroid's thread:
LeeDroid said:
Q: What is A2SD+
A:
A2SD+ Moves your apps & Dalvik cahche to a hidden EXT partition on your MicroSD
You will be required to format you SD card with 2 partitions as laid out below
How do i set up my MicroSD ready for A2SD+
A:
Backup all data on you SD card (this will be Formatted)
The card should be formatted with your standard FAT32 partition 1st followed by an EXT3 partition (I would recommend a minimum 512mb)
Linux users use GParted or a similar software.
For everyone else I would recommend using Rom Manager or CWM
Once you have downloaded ROM manager from the market, open the app and click partition SD Card, Select your EXT size and set 0mb for swap
Restore your data to your SD.
Flash the A2SD+ Patch
Boot << Please be aware, 1st boot may take a while depending on how many apps you have installed.

As I said, every rom doesn't support A2SD and those who do have it probably mentioned in the OP of the rom thread (RCMix3D doesn't atm). You can't add A2SD support by flashing, you can only flash the A2SD patch to a rom that supports it.

Excuse me for going off-topic a bit
But why are there so many people focused on moving every application to the SD card?
It can't be for the space... I just counted and I have 70 apps installed on my internal memory, using 274 MB with 883 MB free.
I just don't get it?

I dont know about other people but for me, there is a new rom out every day and full wiping makes sure nothings wrong and if the apps are on the SD then its just easier you dont have to worry about losing your apps
But always you can use Titanum Backup to backup your apps.
Hmm.. So, ext4... For what? I know, ext4 is newest than ext3, but performance ext4>ext3 or for what?

Sorry, you have an SD card with a single 745MB ext4 partition?
Can you post your exact SD card partition info - all partition sizes, file systems, and in what order they are partitioned.
Also, your ROM - have you asked this question in the relevant thread?

Sorry what I meant was my first partition was 6.69gb and Fat32, Then I partitioned 750mb off as Ext4.
Data first and then A2SD partition second is usually the right way around but I am not familiar with your ROM. For example, does it support EXT4?
Might be worthing popping over to the thread for your ROM in the Development forum and asking around there.

Yeah I did data first, and yeah it does support EXT4.
The rom doesnt actually have A2SD in it, but I put it in myself so its probably no use asking in the rom thread.
I've tried everything, I've partitioned it on linux, gparted, minitool partion on windows, Clockwork recovery, none work.
Thanks for your help anyway!
