Huge Wake lock issue PA3.99 RC2 - Oppo Find 5

I am experiencing the classic RILJ wake lock associated with GPS and Network location.
Turning off Google's location reporting in the Google settings resolves the issue without disabling GPS.
The problem appears to stem from some bad GPS code but can't confirm.
While on vacation away from WiFi the wake lock got stuck getting a Location fix, because GPS never enabled to get the fix.
It doesn't seem to be a modem issue. I have tried every modem available for the find 5.
I am fairly new to the forum so I don't have enough posts to report this to the developer on the Paranoid Android thread.
Can someone perhaps report the issue on that forum. And or provide a link to this trouble shooting.
Thanks for any help.

[Q] Frequent reboots

From what I read it is caused by the location services and turning them off seems to help my N4 not reboot a few times a day.
Has anyone found a workaround short of disabling location services? Google should have released a software update by now if it is indeed caused by a bug in the OS.

FYI: I have location services on and my phones have never rebooted by themselves. YMMV

rom or kernel, mods, tweaks, who knows what. android 4.2 afaik does not have any rebooting issues.
I just run it stock, not even rooted. Here's a post I found when I was looking into the sudden reboot issues. I don't use HD Widgets either, though I do have the stock Weather widget on the home screen, I should try removing it and see if it still does it.

I used to blame Bluetooth on the reboots as i correlated it with using Bluetooth in my car, but it turns out it's the location services that are triggered more often when you are in motion.

[Q] How to debug “wlan_wake kernel wakelock” on an unrooted device?

The question is as short as the title. I've a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 & it has started showing issues where the CPU remains in lowest possible frequency (250Mhz) and it doesn't go to deep sleep.
I tried uninstalling all the apps that I installed in last 2 days but I can still see the issues.
Searching on google isn't helping either. Most of the posts that get in search results are the posts where people paste the betterbatterstats output. On the official wiki, https://github.com/asksven/BetterBatteryStats-Knowledge-Base/wiki/wlan_wake , it's mentioned that a sniffer should be used to debug.
I saw that most of the sniffers actually require root. So, how do I debug this wakelock without rooting my phone?
Thing to note is, I was not seeing this wakelock since a few days back and I started seeing it just today. I don't want to switch off the wlan while the screen is off & I actually want to fix this.
PS: Please help as I've actually very religiously searched on the internet and I'm unable to find the solution.

That's how I came to know about it (using BetterBatteryStats though). It's a kernel wakelock, not a partial one. So, it's not what's triggered by the apps and hence it isn't easy to find the app that's causing it.
At various places, people are suggesting that some app is constantly using the wlan0 and hence the wakelock but I'm not sure which one.
So, anyone knows?
Bump

How'll that even remotely effect wlan_wake?
Guys, I was really hoping if someone could help... Thanks

Hi
I had the same problem
Sometimes it's happened when I change WIFI state (On/Of)
Follow this:
0)I use Cpu Spy app to determine wakelock & Deep Sleep Problems
1) go to Wifi settings & turn on Wifi
2) go to Advanced
3)Set "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" to "Never"
4)Wait some seconds (I used to turn off screen, wait for some seconds)
5) turn off wifi
if you want to use wifi, turn on wifi and set "keep Wi-Fi..." to "Always" or not.
Notice that befor turning of Wifi, set it to "Never"
notice that when your phone is connected to charger T before disconnecting charger, unlock phone and wait for a few seconds while screen is on, then disconnect charger,

XXUCMK2
Few possible causes:
- Do you have Wifi Scanning set to enabled? (Wifi settings)
- Do you have Use Wifi Networks enabled in Location settings in both Settings and Googe Settings?

Have you experienced GPS lock issues?

I've found that sometimes I can't get a GPS lock and have to restart the phone to get one. It makes using Waze a pain.
No.

I'm having the same issue. Annoying.
Never had any issues. In fact this is the first phone in a while that does a pretty decent job of it
on XT1575
checking my gps using "gps status" app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cochibo.gpsstatus&hl=en)
GPS is on, able to see 20 satellites. I have a lock on 0 / 20.
No GPS locked quickly
You been outside or inside house?
Outside
I've had to toggle from the settings to get it to work without rebooting.

I've never had an issue with my GPS. You should go to settings> location and see if you phone is in high accuracy mode. Both my moto X's came with battery save mode as the default.
Tried.
I've also factory restored. I will try again this evening.

It was already there. I use Waze every day. Sometimes it won't lock. I have to toggle GPS to get it to work again.
I think it might be a Waze problem. When it happens to me I just close Waze, start GPS Status app, and restart Waze with both running, and it locks right away. No other apps have this problem. Waze still hasn't fixed the semi-random shutdowns that it does in the past 2 years of use, so I don't expect a fix for this GPS problem either.
I never had the problem with my 1+1. It was always immediate. Waze hasn't shut down on me with either phone.
Random GPS lost fix during Waze navigation - suddenly Waze reports GPS lost fix - only happened to my with my Sony Xperia Z3. It happens when I put the phone on my lap - I guess putting it in a mount close to the windshield will improve this issue.
Still very disappointing as OPO, Meizu and other cheap chines phones never gave me this issue.
GPS lost
I'm experiencing the same issues since the beginning. It happens in all GPS applications. Not only in Waze.
I'm using Endomondo to track my runs. I have gaps of several kilometers. Sometimes, the lock won't come on without switching the GPS off and on.
The same issue for Pokemon Go.
I returned my phone and they replaced the mainboard.
That didn't fix the problem!
Did anyone fixed the problem?
I frequently get a message in Waze about no GPS. Typically if I kill Waze and restart then I get the GPS signal.
I only see GPS problems in Waze.
I got this all the time in Dirty Unicorns 10.6, when I switched ROM's I had no more issues.
I'm still on stock image. Not rooted yet.
I applied
Code:
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
which is suggested for Moto X Play (http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-play/help/gps-issues-x-play-t3248283) and Moto G (http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...-gps-custom-rom-backup-special-t2909768/page3).
Simioni (post 15 http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-play/help/gps-issues-x-play-t3248283/page2) suggests it's related to 3G connection.
I will do some trials.
If your rooted try FasterGPS, if not GPS Status & Toolbox can update aGPS info... Might help too.
I went for another run today and the part that was missing was now tracked perfect.
"Erase modemst" seems to fix my problem.

GPS not locking on after 5.1.1 update

After updating to 5.1.1, the GPS on my N910G is useless for navigation. If I am still, it can pinpoint my location on "High Accuracy" setting but when I'm moving i.e. when using navigation, it never locks on. Setting location to "GPS Only" does not help either. Does anyone else have this issue?
I have a similar issue. After a reboot, the GPS locks for 2-3 minutes, and then stops locking until next reboot.
I just posted a thread about this!
I also can't get a lock after the update.
I tried so many things and I gave up , everything was fine before
I had terrible fix issues with my GPS. I switched from wanamlite rom to sweet rom, now my GPS works again!

What is turning off my GPS / Location Service?

When I go to use Google Maps for navigation, I often get the message "To continue turn on device location which uses Google's location service". The problem also affects ViewRanger, an app I use for walking. GPS appears to turn off during a walk so I lose the track of my route. In this case the message is "GPS is disabled in the settings. Please enable it."
I recognise this happens after the phone has been "asleep" for a while but have not been able to measure how long it must be asleep before the problem arises. I think it is at least 30 mins.
It feels like a "battery saver" problem, but I can't see any obvious power saving setting to turn off. ViewRanger is set in App Power-saver to have no optimisation policies.
I have had my Axon 7 since Jan 2018 and this problem has only occurred in the last few weeks. My model is A2017G on stock Oreo B03 and unrooted. The problem did not emerge when I first moved to Oreo. It may have started when I moved to B03 though I think GPS was fine for a while after I moved to B03.
Something is turning off location services in the background; how do I find out what it is? Is there some sort of log I can read? What other solutions are there? Many thanks in advance, Evan
I moved from stock Oreo B03 to B04 (via B02) and wiped the cache. All now seems to be well; ViewRanger recorded a 4 hour track with no problem yesterday. Slightly strange though as I had previously wiped cache while on B03 and found that didn't fix my problem.
Too good to be true

It did all seem a little too good to be true and, sadly, Location Services again began "turning off automatically" only a few days after my upgrade to B04. I have attached 2 screenshots from the notification log for when I started recording a route in ViewRanger at 15:07 and again 3 mins later at 15:10 when tracking appeared to stop. The logs mean nothing to me, so any insight would be very welcome.
In the meantime, I uninstalled ViewRanger, deleted all ViewRanger directories, restarted the phone, re-installed ViewRanger and wiped cache again. After that, for now at least, Location Services are again behaving.
As all this appears to point the finger at ViewRanger, I will raise direct with the application owners too.

ViewRanger, support were very responsive and supportive. They made a convincing case that the problem is not caused by ViewRanger, not least as the app has no capability to turn off Location Services.
But something is still turning off Location Services when the phone goes to sleep. How can I tell what is doing this?
In the meantime, wiping cache solves the problem for a few days, but, so far, it has always come back.
I have the same issue and that's why I think this phone's gps is useless. I find this gps not in accurate way to detect the coordinates even in all previous firmwares (nougat, all ver of oreo)
The auto turned off gps services maybe the case of software, but I think the hardware is bad either.
This is the worst part as I work using GPS a lot but I still love this guy's music features. I ended up using secondary phone/tablet to run some geographical apps, sad cant have em running in one phone only.
Update: my GPS get fixed on B04 with locked bootloader, it seems fine and fast to get POI. It's usable now. Guess the previous rom has bugs on GPS or it's broken by other apps I used before
