Not yet.
Most recoveries require unlocked bootloader. We'll be able to use like a safestrap, etc though like on the S4

So as I've gathered I can't update OTA when one is available if I have a custom recovery (CWM, TWRP). My question however is if I will be able to apply the update using my custom recovery, and if so, will I retain root and all my frozen bloat from TiBa? Thanks.
If you're talking about stock ota, then no if you have a custom recovery

Will get custom updates that you can flash through recovery long before the carrier releases the same update..

You are referring to custom ROM's correct? I was hoping to remain stock and root and still be able to apply updates.
Maybe I should be the bullet and flash a custom ROM that still incorporates TW (want the gestures).

thats what i am doing.
is unrooted phone able to flash zip?
You just need a custom recovery to be able to flash zips. Rooting doesn't affect this.

No. You need to unlock the bootloader (and keep it unlocked) for the custom recovery to work.

Just root my phone recently. I'm wondering what is loki? Since some roms require loki. I'm using s4 i337m or a Canadian model. Thanks!

It is a S4's exploit that unlocks bootloader or bypasses bootloader so that you can install TWRP or other recoveries to flash custom roms. If your device has higher version than MF3, you can't use loki doki. Simply, if you rooted your phone with motochopper, that means you are in MDL or lower version in which you can use loki doki. i believe that you are on MF3 or higher, so visit this thread before doing something wrong.

You don't need it at all with Canadian models. There are several threads within the forums that cover this information.
I rooted my phone using cf auto root. It has already custom recovery. It means i don't need loki anymore. Thanks!

Now that Xposed is compatible with Samsung TW ROMS, I'd like to install Xposed on my S4 with 5.0.1 Lollipop and OC3. I need a custom recovery to install Xposed, so how can I do it?
I've searched and can't find anything. Right now I have just the stock android recovery.
You can't. The only custom recovery you can use is safestrap and afaik xposed won't flash in it.

Well, it looks like safestrap isn't compatible with oc3 yet so no custom recovery for you

Correct, my error, thanks for catching it.
I searched but came up with nothing. Is there any compatible custom recoveries for our phone?

Nope because of the locked bootloader your only choice is flashfire from the play store which is good enough.
