Did Verizon remove the option for lock screen shortcuts (from the lock screen menu) , or is that hiding somewhere else?

It's there. Settings>Lockscreen>Shortcuts Turn them on and then you can customize the apps as well.

When I go into the Lockscreen menu under Setting, I don't see anything about Shortcuts :-/
I am hoping that this is something obvious that I am not seeing, but would you mind posting a screen shot of that setting?
It's there for me. Here's a screenie.

Thanks for the screen shot,...I have no idea why that option is NOT on my phone,...-.-' Well,...with Root de la Vega out now,...AND that it doesn't trip Knox, I'm not sure if I'm going to just leave things as is, or if I should Root and see if the re-install of the OS would pop that selection up.
Thanks again, repsol!

Shortcuts are not available with pattern or pin (possibly password too?) lockscreens. Try switching to swipe to unlock.

Actually, I didn't. One of the moderators moved it here. There was one post, then the one that got moved here. That said, I got my question answered. Certain settings disable certain options. Instead of merely ghosting unavailable options, Google (?) opted to not show them at all.

Is there any way to get this back without waiting for roms?

Navigation bar, the aokp rom has thus feature built in. I'm not sure if there's a mod for touchwiz roms yet though.

Why do you want double buttons when they are built into the S3, it just takes up extra screen space? The Nexus and other devices that don't have hardware buttons use those soft buttons.
Go to phantoms rom page and there's the mod to enable it there.

Ahh sorry, I should of mentioned I'm on verizon.
And @Halmo I'd like the keep the feel that stock android gives, and I also don't like having to hold a button for the task manager.

No way to do that. Just wait for someone to develop a ROM that will work with all that locked bootloader jazz. At that point, you might be able to get the nav bar back.

From what ive heard your supposed to tap your build number in about tablet 7 times and it should give you developer settings. Thats from what ive heard also so i could be wrong.

Hi, I'm using Captivate and just got CM10.1 and was about to post about this problem. Why would like suddenly hide that settings and such a weird way to activate it??
Anyways, thanks for the information.

Do people have this kind of issue with the phone? I can take screenshots so I assume its not a screen problem.
Its running stock 4.2, rooted and unlocked.

Try reflashing the stock image. If that doesn't work then I'd assume it's an issue with your hardware.

What's that jelly bean notification? Also I thinks that might be software BC I had a old phone that would do that and I reflashed and it worked.

You sure that's a screen shot from the stock because the app tray should have 5 columns of apps not 4

It looks like the OP is using Apex Launcher. I don't use it myself but I can only assume that would be the reason.
Currently using Apex launcher but it occurs in stock as well.
I called google and they said it could be related to auto brightness 'adjusting' to the light. imho I think its a faulty light sensor bugging out so I requested for RMA.
Thread moved. Questions belong here in Q&A.
Thanks

Hello,
I had the same issue. I think that's software bug beacuse it persist on screen captures.
I don't want to make a RMA.

Hi, I have the same issue on my Xiaomi mi2 phone which has has the same processor as the nexus 4.
did you reach to a conclusion regarding this?
Thanks.
I have the same problem with my Nexus 4. You can see it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTyYqu8buvk . I think that more than one have this problem and it could be related with CPU or GPU drivers because the Xiaomi Mi2 (same CPU/GPU) have the same issue.
Why every time I try and view a picture in my gallery, the menu bar or whatever you want to call it never disappears. Even after taping the picture

when I pull up a photo with the stock gallery app it shows the menu bar you are referring to, then a second tap makes it go away, & a third tap brings it back

Unfortunately this seems to be a widespread problem. From what I've seen it has to do with the "accessibility"settings. I had the same problem when I installed NoLED and gave it permission under accessibility. After I turned off the accessibility feature everything went back to normal. Hope that helps.

If the status bar is gone you can swipe down from the top of the phone/earpiece and the statusbar will come back, and if you swipe up on it it will go back again. Only on a TouchWiz ROM, but it works in all apps.

thanks asus for listening...new launcher has homescreen icon lock and with other security feature...those on other 3rd party launcher....you might wanna try new asus launcher agains....thanks
I didn't appreciate the notification for App Lock since I'm using Nova Launcher... Hopefully that was just a one time thing.....

excellent....
finally something that lock the apps
This is a very useful feature I saw a little bit of when I flashed the latest stock firmware and reset my phone this morning. It's a pity I don't use ASUS launcher, I hope other launchers implement this privacy feature!
ASUS is doing well on adding new features like being able to disable almost all system apps in latest update!
A moratorium on new features would be welcome however if it meant the 5.1 update would drop already!
heard the latest ZF2 variations like selfie, laser etc. have a new zenui launcher which is light and fast. Hope they release the same for existing ZF2 as well.
Nice addition, the lock home screen option was required there. :good::good:
I love the strides they've taken with the Asus launcher. Really commendable. The two different layouts, the privacy features and now the nice, fullscreen folder style.
Guys i cant use applock feature.
It keep asking me a password.any suggestion?

After the update i got do many bugs..i did a hard reset and it was gone..ne sure to make back ups
If asking for password that is the other old fuction, it supposed to lock the app so no one can open it but with password and it can take the picture of that person who try to access it
