I'm on the fence about leaving smart stay on? It only seems to work sometime, and I can't tell whether it is killing my battery or not. Just curious if anyone out there is using it?

I have been keeping it on, but it doesnt work very well for me thus far. If you look away for more than a sec or so and then look back it will still shut the screen off. I havent noticed battery drain though.
I turned off Smart Stay and all the other "Smart" features, they rarely ever work properly. For instance, Smart Stay requires that I stare at the sensor for the screen to stay on. In addition, now that I have a case with a lip on the front of the phone, I think the lip interferes with the sensor and none of the Smart features have worked since.
I use it. It doesn't work 100% of the time but enough to leave it on.
I've used S3, S4, and now Note 3, and I've always enabled it. I never realize how much I've depended on it until I got the Nexus 7, which didn't have this feature. The Nexus 7 would always dim the screen when I'm browsing/reading something. So good job to Samsung. They made a feature that is not only useful, but also transparent.

Same here. The notification "eye" annoys me a bit, but that's bc @beanstown106 roms spoiled me haha
I never used it with my Note 2, honestly never even knew it was there
I didn't like the screen dimming all the time, I do read a lot on my phone so have it enabled for that purpose makes it worthwhile to me.

If you're rooted you can disable that "eye"notification using Wanam Xposed.

It does not seem to work for me, probably because I wear glasses. I disabled it after a week and did not notice any difference.

Or can it mess up/burn out the LED?
It CAN burn out the LED, but don't leave it on for extended periods and you'll be fine.
I only use it occasionally. So is it worth keeping or should I uninstall it?
So far I've only used it as a torch for say... an hour tops? Constant.
I would keep it, they come in handy especially if you drop your keys beside the car seat at night and you can't see. Look into the galaxy nexus flashlight on the play store doesn't take a lot of space and works well.

Is that one recommended then? At the moment am using 'Simple Torch', but if that's better or something, then I'll switch.

Not necessarily recommended but works well on nexus devices, widget looks good and had a lock screen widget. +it doesn't take up a lot of space

Has anyone noticed that the screen on this phone is way too sensitive? Mine goes as far as to register a touch when I hold my finger a few millimeters away. This results in accidental double presses and is very frustrating especially when typing. I even made sure the high sensitivity setting was off.
When in Camera mode, it even snaps photos by itself without my finger anywhere near the shutter button.
Any tips?

Have you tried turning off AirView?
There is a mode you need to turn off which makes it more sensitive. For winter and gloves.

As stated in OP I had made sure that the hi sensitivity option is off as well as any other convenience features.
As for the camera, I have been in windy conditions when this was occurring, so maybe it was thinking I was giving voice commands. But I had all of that turned off as well, so I'm not sure what the deal is.
I will probably revert to factory settings again before returning the phone to make sure it's not a software issue.
I think that Samsung went a little overboard with the touchscreen on this phone. I do not like the fact that everything can be used to touch the screen. What I actually liked about my iPhone 4s was that it was picky about only recognizing fingertip touches.
Great phone overall but this issue sadly ruins it for me. I do not want to go back to iOS so I think HTC One is the only other strong competitor.

Just got my g2 this am and its not that I'm disappointed I just don't know if its worth the full retail I paid over my nexus4. I'm moving to India in a few months so lte does not really matter to me.
Anyone come from a n4 to the g2 and have any insight on what you are enjoying more about the n4?

I am considering the same thing. Can you post pics of them together? I may wait for the nexus 5 but think i like the buttons on the back and bigger battery. I hope the bootloader is able to be unlocked.
Sure give me a few and I will grab some pictures.
Overall the nexus feels better in the hand to me, love the back glass feel, I don't mind dealing with stock for a couple weeks as long as that bootloader becomes unlockable and we get some aosp action.
Re: the buttons on the back, I don't mind em one bit and actually like em but I don't use volume up/down much on my phone anyway.
My phone is on back order, but I'll be giving my wife my Nexus 4 so I can't comment on that decision, but I'm definitely keeping the G2 for myself. I played with one for a few minutes and I'm sold.

Wow they really are close in size! The nexus screen looks great with the buttons hidden. Does the G2 not allow 3rd party wallpapers appear behind transparent notification bar and buttons at the bottom?

Firstly I love my Note 3 and if not for these issues it would be a 10/10.
My first issue is that occasionally the phone will freeze up for a few seconds regardless of the app I'm in and will tell me essentially that Samsung Watchon has forceclosed. Happens all the time and I have no idea why.
Secondly when in a call if I put it on speakerphone and leave the phone app to perform other tasks while on the phone the proximity sensor still acts as if it is not on speaker. The screen shuts off if i try to slide down the status bar or something which is quite irritating.
If you guys have any idea what could cause this or how to fix it it would be much appreciated. Gratzi

#1 i just setup WatchOn and it stopped because i was having this issue as well. no other apps are causing me issues
#2 i have same problem and its the same with my S4 and also my RAZR HD
as far as an update coming i have frozen SDM.apk and will definitely not be taking any updates until it looks safe for root and possible unlock. i saw a lot of people take the S4 update shortly after release and they were not happy campers
Not only is watchon a buggy POS, it runs in the BG all the time.
That was one of the first things I disabled.
WatchON is kind of useful, I think. I used to get the FC warnings a lot at the beginning, but after running the app and setting it up and adding my TV to the remote devices, I haven't had a problem since.
I had problems with watchON crashing when I opened news stand. But I've since turned it off.
As for the speaker phone I've never had that problem.

1.WatchOn pop up errors stopped after it was set up.
2. You can turn off the proximity sensor during calls if you want in the call settings menu.

Id' heard it's been dumbed down a bit, which i was interested in, for me the SGS4 was a bit gimmicky, seemed to be too much going on at the same time.
After a while you simply don't use some of the gestures, you rely on what you know, probably why the HTC One was so popular, it's system was literally stripped of anything it didn't need, worked really well and it's been the best to date, i think Sammy could take a thing or two from that.
