Lockscreen SMS question. . - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any way to get a preview of a new text message on the lockscreen like HTC and Samsung devices? I've looked everywhere for the option but I can't find it. The only way is to pull down the notification shade or swipe up from the messages icon.

Try NiLS on the play store, works for all apps like iOS. I use it all the time.

I was just wondering if there was a native way to do out from LG built in.

Think you can get an app which will display the battery percentage in the notification bar.
Yeah I am aware you can get an app that will do this I'm asking if it's built in the stock setting as it is in the gs3.

If you do the two-finger swipe down (like with the notifications, but with two fingers) it shows the quick settings. The percentage is listed in there. I don't think it shows it by default in the notification bar, though.

Expandable notifications

Has anyone else noticed this?
On my previous phone, I would get the regular notifications and could choose whether I expanded them or not. With the Nexus 4, all my notifications seem to come pre-expanded. Is there anyway to disable this feature?

Anyone?

When you have 1 notification it expands when you have multiple it comes unexpanded. ie you get 1 text its expanded, you get a text and an email and downloaded an app, its not expanded.

Is there an option menu where I can turn that off? I prefer not to have the notifications automatically expand, even if it's only the first one

Does anyone know if there is a way to stop notifications from automatically expanding?
I don't think there's a way that you can. You would have to ask a Developer to code that for you in a custom ROM.

No, as of right now it is not possible.

Incoming texts

Is it just me or is it a pain to get your text from the lock screen? What's the trick to it. I'm not to fond of the new way. I liked seeing it in the status bar but not the message on the lock screen & unfortunately you can't change that.

A pain? You click the message then swipe inside the white box that appears. Takes you straight to the message.

Ya, but it also shows it in the lock screen, there's no way to do one or the other.

Personally, I dont like Samsungs whole version of the multiple lock screen widgets and notifications on lock screen. Very clumsy

SMS Application

I'm looking for a texting app that's good with MMS emojis for like the iPhone where I phones can read. A pop-up notification for texting back quickly? Any suggestions I'm open for pricing, it doesn't matter?

Go SMS or Chomp SMS will work. Both free on the Play store.

Handcent SMS is a very good one.
G0 has worked well but I think for some reason the devs don't like it.

Stock SMS notification number

I'm just curious if there is a way to get rid of this number over the app. I'm trying to use a different SMS app and that number unless I missed it is no where in the settings to turn off.

Freeze the stock messaging app?
Sent from my VS980 4G using XDA Premium HD app
My device is not rooted. Is there another way yo go about doing it without rooting?
Sent from my LG-D800 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Which specific app are freezing? Is it the LGMMS or VZWSMS APK?
Did you go into sms app then settings, then notification and uncheck all the boxes?

Remove the Icon from your screen drag it to the trash bin
After you uncheck notifications in setting. Open the last message you received. It will clear the number and you won't get them anymore until you activate notifications again.
