Anyone going naked? No screen protector? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm hesitant to remove the screen protector that came with the device. Does this screen scratch easily? I ordered some protector, should arrive next week.

As long as you're careful and don't keep it in your pocket with keys or rocks you should be fine. I've had the G2 for about 2 weeks with no screen protector and it still looks brand new. Also I had a Galaxy Nexus for 2 years with no screen protector (which afaik did not even have Gorilla Glass) and that screen is still perfect as well.
I do have a case on it though.

No screen protector and lives in pockets with change and keys. Screen looks as good as day 1.

I'm debating this a lot.
On one hand it's nice to have some sort of screen scratching protection. I baby my phones and they usually get their own pocket, but with my Galaxy Nexus I did notice a phantom super tiny scratch and set my ocd off being sad that it wasn't perfect anymore. On a side note though the GNex didn't have Gorilla Glass. My Droid 1 did and survived being scratched.
On the other hand these phones were made to be used naked. People add protectors to keep their phone in pristine condition, but what happens after 2 years of using it and upgrading, you just leave the old one to the side and forget about it. The entire time you could have used it in its maximum comfortability you chose to hinder yourself instead. Why take that away? Unless you plan to sell it, then I see a point.
So far I've had a naked screen for about 2 weeks now. No phantom scratches present and it's been a lot more pleasant to use than with a screen protector applied to it. I know it's a risk, but I took it on the Droid 1 and it turned out to be fine.

Naked and loving it

Ive said this in another thread, i dont think it matters much what the glass is made out of but more important is the coating because my HTC ONE would scratch very easy under the same use i put my g pro note2 and s4 through and my g2 is now a moth old and looks like day one.

GNex was lotus glass, iirc. Same specs as GG, different vendor.
I dropped my naked G2 on day 2 onto a parking lot. Picked up a very minor scratch and a chip the size of a pin point.

Mine didn't even come with a screen protector. I've been naked since I've got it (around Sept. 18-ish) and haven't even used the free window cover that came with it. I haven't dropped it or anything but it seems like it would survive. It has some scratches only visible under certain lighting conditions, but invisible with the screen on.

here is the reason i put a case on mine http://www.androidauthority.com/lg-g2-drop-test-282528/

I seem to recall seeing something about Gorilla glass being good against keys, but sand is really bad. Sand is as hard as the screen, so will scratch it. If you live in a sandy environment, it may be more of an issue.

To add to what I said earlier, a case is a must!! The corners are always weak spots.

I run all my phones naked and this one is no exception. While I don't expect it will take the same amount of abuse as my 1G iphone, I'm sure this phone will hold up fine.

ALways naked....always. I wanna touch her sweetness when I play with her and have her brush up against my leg as she sleeps in my pocket.
(I have issues I know)

Screen protectors these days don't add anything to the screen. The clarity and the smoothness are perfect. I can't imagine not having them on considering how cheap they are.
I found that this phone is better with case for me. It is easier to hold, insulate the heat from your hand and that glossy back really gets on your nerve after a while.
-LG G2

My screen has never been touched by bare hands. I had screen protectors already waiting for when the phone arrived. Took off the factory protector and applied this before I even hit the power button. Also using a quickwindow case.
Normally I always go totally bare on phones. But I also used to jump from phone to phone a lot more, and rarely bought new. My gnex was one of my only totally new (albiet subsidised phone). I didnt use anything on that. I had jt near two years, signifancly longer than any other phone, but it looks like hell. Screen has some noticable scratches and all the corners are rough.
Having bought the G2 outright, i feel much more inclined to protect it. Plus, i am certain to sell it eventually, probably in a year or so. Id like it to be as prestine as possible.

Guys take it from me and my cracked G2, which resulted loss of the entire bottom digitizer and get a case. :crying: Though my previous phone (HTC EVO 3D) took drops like a champ and ran great but this one, after 1 not as high drop pretty much killed it..

I've owned several phones ever since my original Droid 1, I've never used a screen protector on any of them and none of them have ever scratched. I treat them well but I'm not overly careful either, I throw it in my pocket daily with whatever else is in my pocket, usually keys. I've dropped most of them several times, I've gotten scuffs and scratches on the edges and backs but never on the screen. I don't know if I've just been really lucky or what but I'm convinced gorilla glass is not easy to scratch. I'm sure it can be done but I haven't had it happen yet, and I can't stand the feel of screen protectors. In my opinion they completely ruin the beautiful screen on a lot of phones. I know many people say you can't even see the good ones or feel them, but Ive never seen one I thought looked good. Just my opinion.

Scuffing on Tablet?

I picked up my tablet this morning and noticed there is some scuffing on the back. I tried to rub it off but that didn't do anything. I use my Note for school and I occasionally spin it from landscape to portrait mode. I must say for a $500 tablet I am a little disappointed. I will be emailing Samsung about this. I just wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing this with their Note 10.1? I haven't even had it for a month yet.
Yeah I think spinning anything on any kind of surface would leave scuff marks.

It doesn't matter whether a device is aluminum or plastic; drag it against a material that's harder than it is and it's going to scratch. If you don't like cases get it a skin. That'll probably hide your existing stuffs too. I never slide my devices against anything when their naked. I'll put it down and pick it as vertically as possible. I also get top dollar resale wise by taking care of them while I'm using them. So it's cool if you don't want to baby your toys but then expect wear and tear.
Its not like I am spinning it like a top. I will just place it on the desk and it to lanscape mode. The desk is not made of glass or metal it just a wooden desk so I don't understand how that would be harder then the case.
Tiny particles (to small to easily see) of grit, dirt, etc, trapped on the surace of the table, could scuff/scratch your note with ease. I learned my lesson many, many, devices ago. BUY A DECENT CASE! You'll make the money back on the re-sale.
No offense to the OP, but anyone who walks around carrying a $500 tablet without a case on it is just begging to have a broken, uninsured tablet.

Shortly after getting my Note, I went out and bought some inexpensive netbook skins and cut one to fit the back of the note. (Yeah, yeah - I know - kind of colourful.. but I was tired of everything always being solid black )
After just over a month - this is what the backing looks like. See the scuffing. The back takes a lot of stress. I have an Asus slipcase (ironically) that works beautifully for the Note (even has a loop to hold a full digital pen), but since I carry my Note in a Tucano vertical shoulder bag, puttng it in the slipcase then into the shoulder bag gets a bit tedious.
So yeah, I'd recommend either a slip case or putting a skin on the back. The skin also protects the back if you use their universal dock.
Sand is about 7 on the hardness scale. Diamond is 10. Plastic doesn't stand a chance. Buy a case that will absorb the punishment.
I purchased the Samsung Book Cover case which is working very well and adds hardly anything to the Galaxy Note 10.1. Here is quick video of the Book Cover.

Dont peel the plastic on the back when your first bought it and can have somewhat of a protection. I kept mine on and it still has a case.

And even diamond particles themselvs are sometimes part of sand and dust.
I got a small dent on the back of my note after a week.
I was really surprised as I thought it was made of some polycarbonate substance, so it must be metal.

Good grief. Listen, i love XDA but what i dislike entirely is when some poor SOB asks a simple question, which is NEVER answered, and everybody jumps on the bandwagon and shoots the guy down. I used the prime and tf700 without a case and didn't have a scratch on the prime (yeah it's aluminum) but seriously, the issue is not that it's plastic or a $500 device. I had the original galaxy tab 7 and yes, no scratches either on the back.
I'm going to predict that the OPs galaxy note is.......(drumroll) GRAY and is .....(drumroll) 16GB. Am i correct? Let me explain.
SO there are two problems here. One problem was discussed earlier in another thread about squeaking. I recently had a gray 16GB. Squeaked horribly on the right side. Left side screen slightly "popped" next to the back arrow button down below. REad the forums and only a few people complained about things in that thread - but it seemed to be with gray. I made a statement about the gray and white seeming different, i can't guarantee but i can almost assure you they are. Why? Because i've had them both.
My new white one is more solid. I can't explain it. More solid all around, it *actually* feels slightly heavier. Doesn't feel like a "toy" so many reviewers gave it (more to that in a minute).
The White S-pen that i have is DEFINITELY lighter than the gray S-pen that i had. Again, we are talking maybe a couple grams. But it's noticeable. No popping in the back of my white, no squeaking on the right under the right speaker and where the spen slot is hollowed. The reason i'm mentioning all of this is because to me, they really are different, the gray and white.
The gray one seems to dent in six areas. Let me draw. (Attachment #1)
Okay. I used my tablet and kept it in my old A500 case by Targus 99% of the time. When it came time to swap it out, it had these exact same "surface" scratches on it. What the deal? Keep in mind my gray tablet HAD THE PLASTIC coating still on the tablet. WHich indicates to me that their might not be a surface layer under the gray tablet and the innards are pushing too hard on the outside of the tablet (#2)
"You are crazy, you have no proof" you say. OK. Let me make another point.
GO over ALL of the reviews for this tablet, the 8013 wifi edition by all the websites. Verge, androidcentral, engadget, android police, mobiletech, etc.
Notice which websites gave the tablet a thumbs up for durability (albeit plastic) which model color they had....white!
Now look to see which websites gave awful reviews about the tablets.....they had GRAY.
Don't believe me? Lisa Grade from mobiletech (who i've been following for years since the treo 300/ppc6600 and i730 reviews came in) even postulated in one of her comments that she suspected the white version held up better than the gray and their may have been some manufacturing differences. I've thought this all along, from what i've read and what i've felt.
Now i can add this picture as well, (#3) although it doesn't prove anything except they changed the graphic. Later date? Better marketing? Makes sense. What does your box show and if it's different, is it GRAY?
Hey, if your white versions have the same areas, we need to definitely post things here.
I got the picture of the scuffs from http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...iew-an-embarrassing-lazy-arrogant-money-grab/
Scroll down to the pictures (after glancing at the horrible review)

I second this. It's a terrific case because it's so thin and light. It also works with the desktop dock. I leave my Note in it all the time so both the back and display are protected. It's really more like the phone book cover for the SGS3 which is meant to be left on continuously than a traditional tablet case.

Apparently you're the only one.
Every device can be scratched. Whether an individual device is scratched or not is based purely on what it's subjected to. If I carry my devices without a case and they get scratched I don't blame the manufacturer, I blame myself. That's why most of the time, especially outside my house, my devices are always in cases.
As for the six "dents." I'm guessing that they're dimples because on the reverse side of the case there are probable spacers molded to the cover to prevent the back from compressing.
Mines got scuffs and dings on it.
Yes its sad that it is no longer aesthetically perfect.
But it doesnt function any less perfect so i dont let it bother me
@sledgie
Maybe they are different, most likely just in your head.. unless you can weigh both on a scale then .....yeah. remember kimmers' iphone video where everyone said the iphone 4s (thinking it was the 5) was lighter and faster? ..
Apple pees on your leg and tells you that it's raining.

Screen Protectors?

Has anyone found a nice, clear, and not so grippy screen protector for the M? I absolutely despise Verizon's screen protector. I just tried Zagg's HD invisibleshield this week. That was an epic fail. Not clear at all, despite the BestBuy salesman swearing its even better now than it was a year ago. I was hoping for some sort of thicker type like the Spigen glas.t. I realize this topic is visited all the time in other forums, but we have limited choice at the moment. Any recommendations or insights would be greatly appreciated!

There is this new screen protector call liquid armor it's a spray on screen protector I have not tried it yet but it looks like a great screen protector it's only 25 dollars and last for 6 months it's an invisible shield I guess so it won't take away any clarity from screen because you spray it on and it only takes 10 minutes to dry here is a link to it if you do get it please tell me if it works good if I don't get it before you.

Do you really need one? I've never used one on any of my devices and have never scratched any of those screens. I keep my phone in my pocket too.
Guess it's personal preference. Or added sense of security. ??
Haven't searched their site yet, but I loved the Wrapsol screen protector on my iPhone the short time I was on the dark side..
Super clear, smooth (not grippy), and easy to keep fingerprints off. Also was nice that it was a "dry" application process.
I'm running my phone naked on the screen now. Love the way it looks, but the fingerprints drive me nuts.

Mind describing it more? Is it smooth for your fingers to glide on like for swype? Is it crystal clear without the oil look or degrade the screen quality? It looks like application is similar to invisible shield, which I don't mind, but I didn't like the rubbery feel of invisible shield. Is this any different? I saw it on amazon also. Thanks!!

I work outside in a fairly dusty/sandy occupation. I usually have sand and clay in my pocket at the end of the day. I'm definitely stressing for that added measure of security. I prefer the clarity of no screen protector, but I know a scuff or scratch would drive me insane.

Some people do need/want one. Hence the post. So, not sure why you're asking.
I would like one where it seems to allow your finger to glide easier. Some screen protectors seem to smudge just as much or more than stock. A friend of mine had one that allowed for a great smooth feel which didn't seem to smudge at all. Had a matte type finish and was dark unfortunately. I'd love to try one with that matte finish that wasn't dark and that kept visibility good, just not sure it exists.

ghost armor! if you can install it yourself that is, its a little pricey if you go to the booth in the malls, 25 for front 40 for full body ( on the site if you can install yourself it is 15 for front 25 for whole phone ), however to me its worth it, i like my phone to feel like it does without anything on it an ghost armor comes the closest to it in my opinion, it feels just like the glass no texture to it, i dont even notice that i have a screen protector on. definitely worth the money :good:

Bought Benks Magic SR from obostore. Awesome packing and great fingerprint protection for the screen!
Have anything you'll need to install or even reinstall the film (sticky strings to remove dust, blue easy removable tape to hold it during applying).

I had to replace my M not too long ago. I had the protector from the Trident Aegis on it, and that was a great weekend cover! So, since that was lost in the device swap at Best Buy, they hooked me up with a Zagg, again. They installed, and its good so far. A few imperfections and permanent scuffs though. I don't believe it's worth 25$, but it's handling the job at my sandy/clay ridden job

This is the best screen protector ever.
http://www.armorsuit.com/
its awesome u can hardly see it installs easy and works the bubbles out itself.
I know everyone's got mixed feelings about the various wet application protectors, but I have had good experiences w/ xtremeguard. I purchased the M full body screen, along with a few others, when they had their 82% off sale a month or so ago. The shipping on the products, and the quality control, leave something to be desired (the first shipment, some of the protectors had creases in them, some of the cutouts were not precise, and some of the skins were not delivered).
However, their customer service was great. Whenever I emailed to advise them of an issue ((1) full body skins that they did not send, (2) skins that were not accurately cut, (3) sending me the front, but not the back protector), they immediately sent me a replacement one until they got my order right.
I used a soap and water combo and put the screen and rear protector on my M. Other than my misapplication (which caused a small bubble in the lower left corner, I felt like xtremeguard was a great VALUE, and works well.
Y'know, on my last phone, I paid $20 for the Verizon screen protector. That thing got beat the hell up... scratches, smudges, etc. Then, I found out my phone had gorilla glass all along, and was more resistant to scratches and smudges than the protector itself. The only thing the protector did was reduce the touch sensitivity.
So, I would say that, if you do get some kind of screen protection, you probably aught to prioritize impact resistance... I've seen my fair share of shattered gorilla glass displays, but I can guarantee I've never seen a scratched one... and the smudges are surprisingly hard to see on this phone... though not non-existent.

Screen Protectors?

I mean, really?
N4's screen is made of Gorilla glass, right? That means we can finally put it in the pockets, purses, without worrying that the key will scratch it. So why overlay a protector over it? So that it will feel less smooth?
Is there really a need for a screen protector for the Nexus 4?

Well Gorilla Glass is just a brand name for strengthened glass. It is not scratch proof, merely scratch resistant.
I probably will not be using a protector because I dont keep my phone in the same pocket as my keys, but eventually I will probably put one on.
My Sensation 4G, which uses gorilla glass (if i'm not mistaken), doesn't have any screen scratches and I did not use a screen protector.
My GNex on the other hand... ohhh boy. Samsung should have sent them in the box that the phone came with!
I asked because none of my friends who used iPhone never put any protection on, and with some care, none of them have any scratch on the screen. Oh well, I guess I'll skip the protector and just be careful about where I put it.
Its not keys or coins that scratch it... its dust/ sand.
the only reason i ever use screen protectors is to protect the resale value of the phone im using (since i change phones every year) but with the low price of the nexus 4, im kind of glad and wont be putting one on!

I have leftover screen protectors from my old Galaxy Nexus. Since their screen shapes are more or less similar, I'll just put it on the Nexus 4.

I never bought a screen protector before for my phones. I usually just put them in the neoprene case I bought. However, when I got my GN I notice it got some scratches on it. How I don't know cause in my pocket I care my phone nothing else goes in there but my phone.
So I am out looking to get a Full Body Protector (Screen & Back) and was wondering what everyone would recommend on brand wise?

I have about three scratches on my Nexus screen, but then this is not 'Gorilla Glass' ('fortified glass' means nothing). I won't ever put a protector on any of my phones, especially not when it would ruin the ergonomic design like the Nexus 4's screen.

I think the infinity shield is good, i think that's what's its called...plus it keeps the smudges to a minimum

Awesome! Does the skin have a grippy feel? And is it wet or dry apply?

Wet - never buy dry screen protectors, waste of money.
They are obviously grippier (not even sure that's a word lol) than none at all, but less so than skinomi, zagg and bodyguardz. (i know, I've tested all lol)
Hard to explain the feel of a skin.....
You can drag one finger down the screen with no pressure applied without it sticking

Hmm... Alright, I just don't want any resistance when I'm swiping across the screen. I'll order one of these skins when they're released.

Slight drop, screen cracked - what are my options?

Phone fell about 2 feet getting out of car, which left a long curved vertical crack even with the stock bumper on. Had it for one week, just have the regular warranty. Is my only option to return it for repair, or can I somehow get it replaced?

Assuming you purchased it with a credit card, check with your card company, first. Many have 90-day accidental damage coverage automatically applied to your purchases.
Thanks all for your replies. I bought the Moto Care and already put in a claim. They told me it should go through for full replacement, just needed to wait for the extended warranty to show in the warranty department's system. It didn't show as purchased in My Stuff for a few hours, but it does now so hope to get the approval soon.
Cry
Now i get it !!!!!
Ok, now i understand.
There is no video of drop test or any other durability tests done on the Moto X Style on YouTube or anywhere.
I requested a few top YouTube review channels and they also have not replied.
F*** Motorola, making paper knives, lol.
This post has made me purchase Moto care for mine too. Glad you seem to be getting everything sorted out.
I've practically thrown mine three times. I've got two small dings on the bottom corners. It all comes down to luck. Sometimes you have it and sometimes you don't.

Finally got the replacement last week (Monday 10/12) but Motorola really messed up/lost the original claim (won't go into the gory details) which killed ~10 days with no action whatever, but then after escalating to the stateside support tier was quickly given a code to order a brand new phone through Motomaker which I did on 9/30 with expected del'y on 10/16, so luckily it arrived a few days early but the whole thing was frustrating and took over 3 weeks. Returned the damaged unlocked rooted phone to TX with a prepaid label they emailed me, which I'd returned to stock with the tool provided here (many thanks, worked great!) plus replacing the unlocked logo, which was received back with no issues.
Had an Incipio Octane case on hand when the replacement came, which I think gives much better protection than the stock bumper does, and would also use a screen protector if they didn't all apparently suck so far, so am waiting for one that sounds decent. Incidentally, you can change the Motomaker configuration of the replacement when ordering with the code, even add wood/leather if you didn't have it originally (I didn't) and just pay the $25, but I just went with a different back color which you can't see anyway with the case. Was always careful with my phones and never had one break from minor falls, but maybe the larger size/weight makes this one more vulnerable, so now I'm paranoid of dropping it which will probably make me more likely to!
Having had Gorilla glass 3 and 4 on phones....I think Gorilla glass 3 (which we have on the Pure) breaks easier than 4 in drops, but doesn't scratch as easily as 4 does. I have dropped and cracked a 3 screen but never scratched one.
Whereas I have never broken a 4 screen but it sure did get a scratch within the first week of ownership on S6 Edge.
I wonder how "shatter proof" the new Droid Turbo 2 screen will really be??

That's good to know, thanks. I was a bit envy of the Nexus 6p having GG4 but since I'm more worried about scratches than me shattering it maybe it's a good thing the MXPE has GG3. It reminds me of the long-heated sapphire vs. mineral crystal debate regarding wristwatches: Scratch-proof vs. shatter-proof.
I bought the extended warranty for $19.99 but I don't think I'm gonna break my screen so I skipped Moto Care. I have an Octane case on it so it has pretty good grip. Perhaps I should keep my phone on a holster or in my pocket all the time and use an earpiece with all calls just to be on the safe side?
Same 2 ft drop - refrain if you can

I think they need to change the name to *****-Ass Glass.
I tell you, if the new Turbo 2 actually has glass that cannot be shattered (yah right) then I believe all phones will move in that direction. Unless they scratch easily! Of course the insurance companies that make a fortune on broken screens may object! Tough noogies Square Trade, and Assurion!
Today I bobbled my 12-day-old replacement for the first cracked-screen phone that began this thread, and it fell farther than the first time (maybe 3.5 vs 2.5 feet), hitting first on the top right corner then bouncing up while twisting mostly onto its front before landing fairly squarely face down on the concrete garage floor. Still has no screen protector yet, so I picked it up expecting the worst but can't find a mark or scratch anywhere on it after removing the Incipio Octane case. Whether just a lucky fall or it would've broken without the full protective case (was using stock bumper the 1st time), I can't say but think it likely made enough difference. It noticeably bounced a couple inches which didn't happen with the bumper although it was a lesser distance, but I believe the denser more-rubberized case material is designed to do that.
I do feel that this phone's size makes it more prone to dropping, not that I didn't occasionally drop my Nexus 4 (w/Diztronic case) but it was so much easier to grip or quickly tuck into any ole pocket such that there were fewer opportunities. Thus far I'm habitually handling the new phone like the smaller N4, but now must train myself to be more careful at least in certain situations.
This just reminded me of a major flaw in motos design. There is no frame around the screen to protect it. The glass is edge to edge, so the only protection would be a big bulky case; which is a no go for me.
This happened to my moto x 2014, broke the screen froma very small drop. Never had an issue with the original moto x, it's survived many drops without damage
Best of luck this go around
People complain if the bezels are too big or small it seems. The casemate bumper is not bulky and provides some protection.

Hey I'm thinking of getting this over the Nexus 5X mostly because of the JetCash deal till the 31st, but you mentioned that you had yours replaced even with the boot loader unlocked? They didn't care at all? That is my last contention. Coming from a Nexus, it was easy as heck to just restore the phone relock and send it back for RMA. As for insurance I think I might get SquareTrade though I'm considering Moto Care, but scared of the support headache in general that I've read all over reddit. I've also never ever cracked a phone screen or really any screen ever, and the this X made it seem like its more likely but still safe than sorry. As for Android updates I'm sure they won't be too quick to ditch this one as it has zero connections to carriers here.
btw I bought the phone right when BestBuy had it, I basically tested it for a week and returned it. I really liked it but it was only 16gb with 9gb left. I can away really happy. Also I like to use my phones without case, so I might put a skin on the sides for grip but that's it, the phone is quite large as is.

Cases for the Phab 2 pro

There are already cases listed on Amazon but beware as none are legit for this phone. Make sure to match up the cameras and fingerprint scanners to the back of the case.
First legit case
https://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-Invisible-Xtreme-Lightweight-Absorbing/dp/B01JOOECG0/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1477713400&sr=8-6&keywords=phab2+pro
First legit case. Just a simple TPU one. Clear.
Hopefully there will be some portfolio style cases that be used as kickstands. I want to be able to put it on a desk or table to watch video or to use Skype.
That case might actually be the one that is going to be available on the Lenovo website (they say a clear case is coming). I am a bit OCD about my phones and want to have screen protectors and cases in hand when I open the phone box. I would have ordered the phone from Lowes.com yesterday but I really want those items - made specifically for this phone - in hand before opening the phone box. I am assuming that case on Amazon ships from China? I am hoping that in 2 weeks there will be more different options available (now that the phone is in hand for many customers)...

I heard that the screen protector type might be an issue because of the way the Pro's display is angled... That maybe the wet install "skin" type might be better? I like this type better - I only used the wet install on my earliest phone - have used this type ever since...
Do the holes on the case you got match up with all the ports, etc. on the phone?
I am actually thinking of waiting until the Black Friday time frame to get mine because I would prefer the Champagne Gold color and I figure by then there will be plenty of case and screen protector choices... But, if not, did your items ship from the USA? Thanks for your time!

i bought these, and the manufacturer screwed up the dimensions. the width is only the width to the edge of the screen (NOT the bezel), and the height is the OVERALL height (PAST the bezel, will not sit flat because of the raised lip around phone). not even close to fitting properly.
Thanks for the updates using your personal experiences!!!

I ordered the only TPU case that was available on Amazon from Tektide. The case fits perfectly.

Here's a picture of the tempered glass on the phone. Take a look at the edges as they don't full stick properly.

Yeah... I see! Thanks for the pictures! I would worry about dust and dirt getting under those edges and sticking - it would look pretty gross... So I guess a thin, bendable or a wet install skin will be the way to go...

I've had a soft case ordered for a week & it still hasn't left China. My phone, ordered at the same time, arrived yesterday. I'm afraid to even pick it up without a case and, when the case gets here, I still won't take the phone out of the house until I get a rugged clam case/holster or Otterbox case for it. With the phone's Lowes Building Supply tie-in, someone should have anticipated the need for a rugged case. I've been a builder and contractor for decades, since "mobile" phones had to be permanently installed under the dashboard, and I know no one who would risk carrying something so delicate on a construction site without the heaviest protective case.
What about it, Lowes? Got a protective, rugged holster in the pipeline for this thing?
Even though I will always be carrying it around in a handbag I want a protective case, too... My fear is that there won't be enough interest in the phone for the "good" case manufacturers to even bother with it!!!

Last night I had my phone face down on a table, and accidentally bumped it off. I heard a thud and looked down to see my phone face down on the concrete floor. Either the Tektide case saved it or I may have just been incredibly lucky in how it landed, but fortunately it was undamaged. Lesson learned though: phone is slick when face down.
My el-cheapo ($0.99) soft case came in from China & it's great! It's clear (vinyl?), covers back & sides, and it's slightly sticky--perfect for anyone worried about dropping their slippery new phone. I'm waiting for a rugged clam case / holster before I take it out of the house but for those of you who don't mind carrying a $500 piece of glass in your pocket, this case will fit all your needs, providing you aren't in a hurry. I ordered mine on a Thursday & it arrived on Friday--a week later. Here's the link to buy:

Forgot to mention, do NOT open the soft envelope that this skin case arrives in with a razor knife ! ! ! ! ! This large phone's large soft case fills the vinyl bubble envelope. When I sliced the envelope open I scratched (sliced) the soft cover inside. Damn. Still works fine but...

You sound like ME! Not even wanting to take the phone out of the house without the proper protection! Lololol! I bought several of those cases... I hope that teenie package will get here before the phone does... Although I still haven't ordered the phone yet...I am still tempted by the Zenfone Ultra... And would rather buy this one from Lowe's. And don't want to order waiting for 3 week shipping... I will definitely get it while I still have a valid coupon code for 30% off a Drops & Spills warranty at Square Trade!!!

Black case now available on Amazon + Qi receivers
This case has the wrong photos, but comments say it fits the Phab 2 Pro perfectly and it's black - better for using with a universal Qi receiver than the clear case.

I have it on order and will report back, though my phone doesn't arrive for 2 weeks (shipping from Lenovo delayed twice now!)
I have a couple Qi receivers on order and will report back what works (or doesn't).

These are both for "Type A" micro USB like the Phab 2 Pro (the narrow part of the micro USB is facing the screen).
