It works just fine for me, but you can adjust the amount of vibration the phone has for a couple different things... It's under Settings>Sounds>Vibration Intensity. I think it's the Haptic option, after some testing.
...
OK, I just did a vibrate only test. No sound.. and nothing happens. All vibrations on max haptic is on and I got nothing coming from it. Can someone test this out for me?

Haha. Noob failure of the day.. i should have done a better Google search. The power saving mode which i didn't know was on actually turns off the haptic feedback. -___-

This feature was present in the original note but it seems it's been removed in the note 2. An alternative way which you may be interested in is simply by holding the power button and selecting mute.
Hope that helps.
Cheers for that. Its a real shame thats been taken away.

Indeed it was useful when on the go, muting the phone within your pocket without having to look at it. I'm sure some application out there could reinstate this.
Yeah I miss that feature as well, too bad it got removed

Aww it doesn't have this? wth are they thinking... where do you turn off the vibrate? all the way in settings? or in the pull-down notification menu? Thanks.

I just noticed that I'm not getting any haptic feedback on my Nexus 4, whether on the keyboard or the navigation buttons. I've had the phone for just under a month and have really loved the haptic feedback, but tonight I'm not getting anything. In fact, I'm not getting any vibration from the phone at all, including when I power it on and off. I haven't changed any of the settings and "vibrate to touch" is on.
Is the motor toast or am I just missing something?
Google is just going to send me a replacement. I'm a happy camper.

If you're getting a replacement then there is no need to answer you but I feel like it lol. Your motor is dead. That happened to me on my old Hercules.

I'm just glad it happened so early after my purchase. It would have been much more difficult to deal with afterwards.

Hello guys, i've got the N4 from exactly 1 month and at first the vibration feedback was awesome, really deep and good. Now the feedback is barely notable, but only in short vibrations.
Example:
-Good/normal feedback with vibrations that lasts more than 10ms like sms and calls notifications
-Poor/barely notable feedback with the haptic feedback of the 3 navbar buttons and of the standard 5ms feedback of the stock keyboard.
I can adjust the "power/intensity" of the haptic feedback with apps like "Franco kernel updater" but my fear is that the problem can be worst in time.
What do you think? Have you noticed a similar behaviour with your N4? Do you think it's normal or it's a hardware problem?
PS: I searched on XDA and there's dome threads about similiar problems, but seems that for the other guys the problem was for all time of vibration.
Sorry for the bad english
R: Vibration / Haptic feedback problem, and you?
No one can give me an answer or a tip?

I have the same problem with my Nexus 4. The vibration, especially with typing used to be very good, now I can barely notice it. I have to crank up the vibration to 100 in kernel settings, but before I could leave it as is and have no issue with vibration. I do increase the haptic feedback vibration too, but it doesn't have that deep vibration feeling like it once had.

Yeah, I agree. I'm surprised no one else has this problem.

guys I noticed something. try placing the phone on a surface and press the three touch buttons, the vibration does not work! try to keep it in hand and it works! to you?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
The vibration's still working, you're just not able to feel it. The vibration isn't actually coming through where you press the button - it pulses the whole phone, just like an incoming call but gentler. If you put your ear close to the phone when it's on a surface and you press the button, you'll hear the vibration working just fine.
R: Vibration works only in hand!
thanks, not everyone would have answered a question like that. I got the doubt because the touch of my old phone works better if it had contact with hand on the back top(Samsung spica)
Thanks a lot

Simple question but I can't find a solution. Is there a way, other than manually setting ringer to a silent ringtone, to make the M silent without vibrate in the stock ROM?
I'm a third shift worker and vibrate wakes me as bad as a ringer would. I know you can do it in custom ROMs. Any help would be appreciated.

I just press Vol- until it goes to vibrate, and then press it one more time for total silence.
Thanks, that did it for now. I would still like to find a software method, so if anyone knows, please post it here. Thanks!

Sushhhhh or somehow like that on the play store free.
What I use is notification toggle by j4velin. It fits in your notification bar in which you can turn on/off all sorts of things, sound is one of them.
