Hi guys, im totally new to this
So i've found out that i have to transfer this file called ''obb'' files for most premium games like Modern Combat 4.. Asphalt 8 etc, and its really frustrating that i've tried so many many times, but i still cant do it. I even did it whilst watching a youtube guide on how to do it.
How do i transfer obb files to my phone?
Here's what i usually do, please tell me where did i go wrong and what i should do!
I download the file
I open it up, because its in a 'rar' format, i unzip all the obb files.. usually four or five or them
then after extracting them all, i put them into my SD card of my s4, and i put them into a folder called Obb..
but when i tried transferring the obb files to my phone, because i have already transferred the first part of the obb file into my phone, when i try to transfer the remaining files to my phone, it says something like that '' would you like to transfer this file? there is already a duplicate of it in your phone '' .. along that lines..

hi,
I just installed Betaplayer and it seems to work out fine. Just have one problem. When I transfer the files (like .mpg or .avi) to my "moviefolder" it only seem to work sometimes. So far I´ve only managed to move small ones. When I try the bigger files it just wont work. Why?
What happens is that the "copy and convert to mobile device format" appears and it starts to copy the file. But after a short while it just stops and starts to copy from the beginning again. And so it goes on...
I have a 1gb SD-card so I´m not out of memory.
Does anyone have a clue?
Have you tried to use a SD Card reader/writer to transfer your files ?
Thanks... it worked!
I just bought my Xperia play, and tried to move some .apk games and apps to the sd card. On PC it shows they were transferred, but on my phone, no sign of the .apk files.
I'm new to the Android system, so maybe I've done something wrong.
How am I supposed to transfer/install those files?
PS: Music and videos successully transferred.
Edit: Solved, used Easy Installer.
Me, I used Appinstaller..
On a side note, I thought you were asking for installing app to sdcard coz we have a poor internal memory.. oh well to answer this, first i used app2sd, but not as helpful as I expect, there are still apps/games that you couldn't be transfer on sd card, so I use link2sd, perfect app for me, now all apps/games can be transfer to sdcard.. But it requires your phone to be rooted and you should have partition on your sdcard.
If you view apk files from astro file manager, it'll let you install them from there. Make sure you have the phone set to allow installation of apps from unknown sources.

Browse to the apk file using any file explorer and open it from there.
So I tried downloading some games and most of them required me to put sd data to android/obb folder. But the problem is that every time I tried to move/copy the file into obb folder, it shows me a error and will not let me copy/move files into obb folder. Is there any solution to this? I have googled everywhere but with no luck.
I am using the SGS4 I9500.
Thanks!
Android - OBB solution
I too had the same problem when tranfering from my PC to the phone.
The only solution I found until now is to copy to the external SD card, then from your phone use a file manager to copy from the SD to the Obb folder.

Try Airdroid.
With it you send files to your phone via WIFI. This will somehow bypass the writing protection of the phone.
I'm using it myself as I can't find any other way around, only this works
:good: :good: :good:.You the King .I did as you said. The files copied fully over airdroid. The game is working fully.Realy appreciate it.Airdroid is awesome. One more thing, Is there a way to run games off the external sd card and not the device internal storage as the device internal storage is only 8gb on the samsung galaxy s4 mini
Thanks Again

Use airdroid, or copy the files to your external sd card and then transfer it to your Android folder on the phone itself. I use ES File Explorer to do the job
Sent from my GT-I9500 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
From external sdcard copy to the internal sdcard
another way is to copy the rar file and extract it on the device

FolderMount is your friend. Google it up.
The reason you cant copy large files into that folder is because 4.2 has new folder permissions on the Android folder. Getting through them is tricky. I usually just let the app make the folder and then let it download like 1%. Then use FolderMount to set up a mirror in external card and copy the obb file into external card. :good:
transfer big files to extsd
Transfer big files (such as fifa) to sd card via gl to sd ...make sure after transferring u must open the game through gltosd only !
Hi, new to the forum here. I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy S5 (Exynos variant), and have been facing issues while trying to get games to run. I tried putting the data files of various games in Android/obb (the obb folder isnt there by default, i had to create it) and then installing the apk and running the games, they work fine until this point. But when i restart the phone the games dont work, i checked the obb folder and its empty but it still takes up space. i couldnt delete the game files from obb since they werent showing up in obb but were still taking space. i had to factory reset the phone.
So any ideas what might be causing this?
PS Im running an unrooted phone at 4.4.2
