Try Airdroid.
With it you send files to your phone via WIFI. This will somehow bypass the writing protection of the phone.
I'm using it myself as I can't find any other way around, only this works
:good: :good: :good:.You the King .I did as you said. The files copied fully over airdroid. The game is working fully.Realy appreciate it.Airdroid is awesome. One more thing, Is there a way to run games off the external sd card and not the device internal storage as the device internal storage is only 8gb on the samsung galaxy s4 mini
Thanks Again

Use airdroid, or copy the files to your external sd card and then transfer it to your Android folder on the phone itself. I use ES File Explorer to do the job
Sent from my GT-I9500 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
From external sdcard copy to the internal sdcard
another way is to copy the rar file and extract it on the device

FolderMount is your friend. Google it up.
The reason you cant copy large files into that folder is because 4.2 has new folder permissions on the Android folder. Getting through them is tricky. I usually just let the app make the folder and then let it download like 1%. Then use FolderMount to set up a mirror in external card and copy the obb file into external card. :good:
transfer big files to extsd
Transfer big files (such as fifa) to sd card via gl to sd ...make sure after transferring u must open the game through gltosd only !

Hello!
I have a problem to write data to external microSD card mounted to my Tab 7.7. I cannot copy/move files, create folders, etc. there when doing this using the Tab. At the same time I can do all of this from my PC when the Tab is connected to it - I can create folders on the microSD, copy or move file. Also, there is no problem to read data form the external card by the Tab (books, for example). So, the problem seems to be only with writing to the card from the Tab.
Could anyone give an advice please? Thank you.

You can only use the internal File Manager app built-in the tablet, OR if you have a rooted tab, then use root explorer or estrongs in root mode to do so.
Basically, the microSD card is mounted in a very awkward state - normally you cannot move or delete files from the card, but with the built in file manager app you do have the proper permissions.

Kazuni, yes, this works. Thank you very much for your help.

You need root, and make sure you do a nandroid backup prior to modifying the file.

Forgive me if there's a forum about this posted somewhere else on xda... I couldn't find one coz few other people seem to be having this issue.
My problem is that I can't write more than like 7mb to any of my 3 my ext SDs (on the phone or on a computer via usb) without the phone pretty much crashing & needing a reboot.
It never happened back when I used GB... And I've had the same issue on all three ICS ROMs I've tried (CM9, F4K r4 and DarkyROM v11).
Anybody had the same issue or an idea on how to solve this?
Ext SD issues
Can you be a little more specific? Which ROM are you currently using? What are you trying to do? Are you installing apps, transferring data to SD ... ? Where are trying to store stuff? Which directory? My Galaxy S external SD is named emmc in File Explorer.
Galaxy S: RemICS-UX v1.3beta
Galaxy Note: ICS 4.0.3

Currently using DarkyRom v11 (Black Edition) with Semaphore ICS 1.2.5s Kernel.
I am simply trying to transfer files (Mostly media files: jpeg, png, mp4, mp3) from mnt/sdcard/media to mnt/emmc.
The transfer progress bar just hangs and the phone becomes unresponsive to the point where I need to reboot. Reading data off the card works 100% fine.
The memory card does work if I remove it and connect it to a computer via a card reader / SD slot.
I was wondering if it wasn't a hardware fault on the phone (seeing as not many other people running ICS on their i9000s have the same problem), but then someone I know picked up the exact same issue when he flashed CM9 on his sgs.
Ext SD problems
If you are having /datadata problems try here for starters: 'http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1541942' (CM7/9). There is a summary of cause and cure, along with further references for you to follow.
Initially I had problems understanding the file structure of my rooted phone. Using FtpCafe I tried to download large map files into sdcard/external_sd/. Big mistake, as I quickly ran out of space. Moving those files to emmc/ sorted my problem. Go to Settings->Storage to quickly check how things stand re internal and external storage.
Galaxy S: RemICS-UX v1.3beta
Galaxy Note: ICS 4.0.3
EDIT:
Sorry for the above, but have only just got your update. Like you, I had trouble transferring files on the phone (about 1GB), but put it down to memory problems and the limitations of the phone. Much safer to connect to the computer in USB connection mode and move the files around from there. In my own case, I had my files backed up to the cloud and the computer; so I simply deleted the unwanted files and downloaded directly to the external sd card from backup.

Yeah, that script is for the low storage notification... an issue I had months back but fixed.... Don't think it's relevant for my current problem.
Running out of space on my internal storage is exactly why I want to be able to move files to my emmc... But that's what's not working, The phone won't let me copy to emmc.
Thanks for trying to help

you need to use https://play.google.com/store/search?q=move+to+Sd+card&c=apps
or menu > settings> applications> storage use > application you want to move to SD card
you cannot cut and paste from internal phone
But to move from one SD card to another, just connect usb, once usb icon appears on task bar
open your notifications drawer > touch usb connected > touch connect storage to PC
you can now open both SD card in your PC and transfer anything you want to any SD card

Hi, I've spent hours already trying to find a way to recover a file that got deleted from my internal storage.. I even rooted my phone..
I tried a few apps, but they either recover data from the SD card when it's mounted as a mass-storage device, or they recover only media files.
Anybody knows of a way to recover a file (let's say it ends with .xyz) from the internal storage??
I need a utility to install on either Samsung S4 i9500 or Windows 7.
Any help would be appreciated - I'm really stuck here...

You need this undelete app "Undelete for Root Users" get it at the playstore.
Go to the playstore and download/install: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fahrbot.apps.undelete&hl=en
I have it installed and it can undelete any kind of files from internal or external sdcard.
On a Samsung S4?

Sadly enough, I just installed it and I got the error: "Your device does not seem to have any FAT file system storage. ..."
After that, the app just quits.
Does it work for you on a Samsung Galaxy S4?

Sure it works fine, no problem.
The reason it gave you that error is that your sdcard is not formatted in fat32.
It must have been formatted using a different formatting scheme.
If the files are really important to you then the only way to possibly undelete them would be
to remove your sdcard and plug it into your windows computer and download a utility like
"Piriform Recuva" which can undelete/recover files from various different format schemes.
Here is the download link for Recuva: http://recuva.soft32.com/free-downl...478&pl=&ds=s&gclid=CMKd0pbVt7oCFW1yQgodUkcAkg
Good luck!
Remember that it's a lot faster to click the "Thanks" button than it is to type "Thank You"!

I'm familiar with Recuva and other disk-recovery software, but this is not the case - I don't even have an SD card.
Maybe I wasn't clear enough: I'm referring to the internal storage - the one that's built into the phone.
tried wifi file transfer and airdroid to transfer files from PC to my note 3. could see the folders and files from my note 3 on PC but when copying files fro pc to note 3 aborts. what could be the problem (any firewall changes on pc or note 3?). no issues with note 2 and the same pc. is that because of kitkat update?

Its possible if you don't have a folder from that app on your external sd card and are using stock... KK doesn't allow any app to write to the external card unless it has it's own folder. It's a "security feature" Google put in....
Only thing it does is make using the external sd card harder and drive people to use cloud storage which is what Google wants....
making sense!! thanks ultramag69

One other thing it does is stop people updating their firmware! - stay on 4.3 DO NOT upgrade if you want to continue having full access to your sd Card.

At some point you will be forced to use their software, whether its a security update pushed to 4.3 or until you get a new phone... Sooner or later you will be assimilated....
Not necessarily. Should that happen I'll root and"fix" what Google broke!

I can't copy or move (but I can delete or rename) files and folders on / from the SD card (SanDisk 8GB) of my unrooted Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime (SM-G531F) with Android 5.1.1. I still can create, rename or delete files and folders.
I tried with My files and ES File Explorer, then I formatted the card in phone and with SD Formatter.
With my PC I can copy or move files or folders on / from the SD card.
I changed the SD card with one similar from my Asus TF-101 tablet and the same phone problems occur, but the phone SD card works normally in tablet!

I'll try.
Please don't reset your whole phone, it won't solve the problem anyways.
With the advent of 5.1.1 Google added a new Media Security Protocol. The affect is that any app that doesn't have root securities can not move or copy files between Int and Ext storage, except those they generate.
The good news is that I know of a FREE file manager that can get around the problem by hooking into Androids Storage Access Framework.
One small problem is that the setting turns itself off frequently, so you have to go back in and turn it back on.
The better news is that it's footprint is only a little bit bigger than 'My Files' and it has a massive amount of capabilities and settings which are 100% configurable.
Enough of the suspense, "Ghost Commander"
Good luck, it's not for the weak of mind.
P.S. To get to the switch;
Top right three dot menu
Location
Home
Storage Access Framework
and search out the Mother directory of your Ext card, then select.
Grumpa
I know this is late but i just had this problem on my note 5.
Try installing / SandiskMemoryZone.Apk should let you move pics and files then.
