The one and only way to change your notification bar is root. The notification bar is part of the framework-res.apk in the system. To modify this file in anyway you need root. Sorry your out of luck
Check out G.O.T's Openrecovery......it will allow you to root if you haven't already and has a nice theme included with a black notification bar!
Am using it right now and looks good...although I would suggest not installing the fonts as they are slightly messed up on the new update.

It doesn't work for the 02.38 leaked build from GOT Team...or rather, it works but it mess up all the text, because Motorola have made some changes in framework-res.apk on that build. With the past build, 02.31, it works flawlessly.

You can try to remove got theme, in OpenRecovery folder delete "fonts" and retry applying theme. It should go
I wasn't referring to the GOT Theme (I've tried it and it works, even if I don't like it that much) but to the SenseUI/Black notification bar linked by iamdarren on droidforums.net, it confuses some texts on the Shols_2.38. For example when you want to shut down the phone, it shows "airplane mode" instead of "shut down phone" and other things like that.
I know it's an old thread, but ia am also looking for a black notification bar.
Using Telus build 3.11.
Anyone th files?
does anyone know if this works on milestone xt720 eu ver? and 2.1 upd-1
The ss evo theme for droid (has to be installed over simply stunning 4.7) has a nice notification bar. Dunno if u can install just the bar though. :/
Modded version of SystemUI to add 9 Toggle functions to the QuickPanel. There is also longpress options to go directly to the setting.
I have only tested this on KJ3 so I'm not sure if it'll work on previous versions or not. Use at your own risk.
Special thanks to crt60 for helping me get this running in KJ3

Deodexed and CWM ready. Enjoy
Nice. thank you.
I missed this feature coming from i9000 bl to att bl. Thanks a lot.

If running a custom version of ROM KJx, will this also change my battery, clock, data and wifi icons in the notification bar at the top of the drawer back to stock?
Awesome, I extracted the systemui.apk and used root explorer to drop it in system/app then rebooted and it worked flawlessly! Thanks for this.
Yes some of the bar icons are controlled by SystemUI.apk, but also from framework-res.apk so I'm not exactly sure what would change.
I had a similar situation with a previous rom where sometimes my signal bars world be white and sometimes green because the framework file had green icons and my sysui file had white.
Its best to backup your files, in this case SystemUI.apk, before trying out a new one

Awesome mod!! Been wanting this for a while now. I was even trying to get this done myself but it just didn't work. I can report this works!! Thank you for this!!
There are two small things I noticed I just thought I would mention though. Carrier name is not shown in the drop down, and when I scroll to any side, there is no overscroll glow on the sides. I am using crt60's power menu and crt off mods.

it appears that this only works for deodexed ROM
tried it after flashing the KJ3 odin one click and status bar will not start keeps force closing
IM assuming that if one was to deodex the stock rom it would work
but wouldn't it be simpler to make a package like this that works on stock odexed?
Actually if i remember correctly it is more difficult to theme an odexed rom as opposed to a deodexed.
How easy would it be to re-odex this package so it would work on an odexed ROM? Is that some thing i could do myself?
If so how? Im sure there are other people wondering the same thing.
I would love to have the 9toggles but it seems this is impossible with an odexed rom. why-o-why?
I installed your system.ui apk with root explorer sucessfully onto Fasty's KJ1...only changes were; lost transparent dropdown and logo, and 'H' is now 3G only (native to KJ3?), and wifi + data icon are stock...these are all non-issues for me as the usefulness of the 9 toggle trade-off is well worth it! Fasty's KJ1 battery icon (personal favorite) remained! Thanks.
Same result as above. Thanks.
This is Blitz76's 9 QuickPanel Toggle with the over scroll fixed.
That was my bad.....

Thanks crt60, I tried the update you posted but I still don't see the overscroll glow. I flashed from cwm, then I tried just copying and pasting w/ root explorer. Am I doing something wrong?
Oh and did you guys remove the provider name from the drop down on purpose?

The over scroll I'm talking about is when you scroll it, it went too far to the left. I have absolutely nothing to do with the code, I just assisted with some graphics.
There is no "you guys" about it. Its all blitz76. I wouldn't have even posted this fix if I didn't think he was really busy and might not be back for a few days.
Does it work on KJ2 ?

Also got FC but managed to get it working.
Use a file manager to mount /system/app rw then rename SystemUI.odex to SystemUI.odex.old, then reboot. This should fix the issue.
However I noticed that carrier name is now gone from pulldown menu, is it by design?
Hi I was just looking to get the 4g LTE icon on the stock/rooted ROM and I couldn't find it. Now, is it possible? Is there any kind of mod we can flash to get a 4g LTE status bar icon kinda like the At&t or the Verizon? I would appreciate any help given. Thanks in advance
Sent from my SPH-L720 using XDA Premium HD app
If you're on stock deodexed you can flash a mod made by covert wolf under Clark's ROM in the Development section. Should be in the OP or the Second/third post. It makes the 4G icon like Verizon's.

I just updated to MF9 and the wolf 4glte mod no longer works, I was trying to change the icon with Ninjamorph and it was a no-go... after I couple of tries I found out that the 4G LTE icon are already in SystemUI.odex, is there a way I can modify it, I already extracted the At&t, T-mo and Verizon LTE icons, can someone point me in the right direction, what can I do now? Is it difficult to create a flash able .zip? please any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks
Nevermind, I found that you can change it by editing the Networkcontroller.smali with Notepad++, tools needed Android SDK, JavaSDK, 7zip, baksmali and smali 2.0b.
Change 4G to 4G LTE
This works for me with a little change in the instruction.
I'm currently using the verizon 4g Icon.

Note:
After editing your build.prop using root explorer its permission will be rw-r--r--.
change it to r--r--r-- (read only) before your reboot.

Is there a way to get transparent nav bar without using Xposed? Maybe decompile SystemUI and edit values like how we can make status bar transparent?
Thanks.
Look for G2Xposed.

The comment before this stating to use G2 Xposed does not solve your issue, being you need Xposed to use G2 Xposed. As far as I know, there is no simple way of having a clear Nav Bar without Xposed. There may be some Roms that will offer this option, look around in your carriers development section. Good Luck.
I kind of want to stick with stock rom for now though, so I guess I am out of luck.

You can still be on stock if you root. You'll just be stock rooted.

LoL. I must have been distracted or something.
But root just is Admin rights. In Linux, Root is the admin username. Just because you unlock the root level access, doesn't mean you are on a custom rom.
I'm running stock rom, rooted, installed "Xposed" APK app AND then "G2 Setting" Xposed module app. No other way ATM that I know of.
Even if there is another way, it would require root access and/or a custom recovery.

I like the customization that can be done in the MOAR ROM to the status bar icons but I like running the deodexed version of the stock ROM on my phone. Is there an easy method to gain access to change colors and maybe change the symbols in the icons on the status bar?

There are several Xposed modules that can modify the statusbar and some of the icons, but I'm not sure if any can actually use custom icons.
GravityBox, Wanam, and I think XBlast. Choose one, because they have a lot of overlap. My favorite is GravityBox because it allowed me to get my beloved left corner "menu" button back instead of the ridiculous "recents", which I kept activating because I've pressed that button for the menu thousands of times over the years.

You always need to install Xposed framework to run Xposed modules.
You need to use a deodexed ROM. It can be a stock-based ROM, but it must be deodexed.
Linked here is the version of xposed you need to flash: http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...od-og5-ok3-t3290370/post65280322#post65280322

So I installed xposed.zip (snapdragon) from the link via SS recovery but I see nothing in the apps drawer and I don't see Xposed in the app list on Ti BU. Did I miss something?
Oy! So I finally found the xposed installer in arter97's thread. I have the installer "installed". How do I install the snapdragon framework zip?
Oy! The learning curve! Ok so the installer automatically adds the framework. When I go to the gravitybox LP module, it says NOT for TW. Do I just ignore this?
NVMD. I loaded wanam instead.
I gave you a post with a direct link to the version of Xposed you needed to use....
Yes, I ignored the warning and GravityBox worked just fine for me (but I'm still using Android 4.4.4)

The link was just for the framework version. I needed the Installer part too.
GB probably would work, but the wanam already had lollipop users talking about it, so I went that way.

Ah.
Wanam and GravityBox are both good. I chose the latter because I really wanted my menu button back, and Wanam didn't do anything I needed that GravityBox didn't also do. It's a matter of personal preference. I am curious if GravityBox works well on Lollipop, though...

It should be the LP one.
If that's somehow wrong, the worst case from an incompatible Xposed module is a bootloop, and you fix that by getting into Safestrap, choosing file explorer, and creating a file called "disabled" in /data/data/de.robv.android.xposed.installer/conf/
Alternately, there's a flashable zip file somewhere that puts the "disabled" file where it needs to be
Then you reboot, get into Xposed and turn off the offending module. Then use a file explorer to go delete that "disabled" file and reboot.
If you run Wanam and GravityBox simultaneously, you'll probably end up with two battery icons next to each other, but there shouldn't be any catastrophic effects.
