TWRP recovery issue - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Okay guys, I want to see if this is normal or its a product of my doing.
Basically when in recovery everything works fine but the weird thing is flashing/backup/wiping anything takes extremely long. Wiping dalvik/cache and data takes 10 minutes instead of where it used to be a few seconds. Flashing a rom takes over that 10 minutes...its just strange.
On every other phone TWRP has been a minimal amount of time to do anything. Just figured I'd ask to see if anyone has these issues as well.

Mines behaves the same way...I too wonder if it is normal,

I wonder if its just because its new an in upcoming versions maybe it will be updated. Last night I went from 35% batter to 20% and all I did was wipe the phone and flash one ROM.

Phone rebooting

I picked up a NS 4G on launch day and so far it has rebooted itself 3 times. I've factory reset the phone once and the Youtube app (that said installed, but wasn't there) finally showed up, but it has still rebooted once since then. Anyone else had this problem? This is not during a phone call like the TMo version had...just using the phone. Combined with the low signal and not being able to find a browser I like real well, I may be returning it. Thoughts? Thanks.
I got my NS4G on launch day, and it hasn't rebooted on me at all, aside from when I do it myself. Sounds like a hardware problem..my HTC Hero used to reboot pretty often.
I got my 4G a few days ago. No reboots at all.

no reboots here, definitely sounds like you have a bad phone. however the low signal isnt exclusive to just you.
Mine rebooted yesterday after I was on the phone for about 45 minutes.

Roll call of those who are successfully running Stock Gingerbread without Reboots

If you are running a version of Stock Gingerbread and it's worked for you for at least 4 days without a reboot, please check in here and answer the following questions:
What version ROM, what version modem?
Are percent of the time do you typically spend in a low signal strength area?
What options did you have selected in ODIN when you flashed it?
What launcher do you use?
Is your phone rooted?
How many apps do you have installed, and are not from an "official" market?
How long between charges?
Anything else you may thing contributes to your success with Gingerbread?
You can see where I'm going here. Some people seem to have great luck with gingerbread, others (like me) keep having reboots. Perhaps there is something common between all the lucky users that we can figure out.
1. EH17 on both
2. If I'm at work, I have hardly any phone signal, but usually a bar of 4G. Outside of my office, I get a few bars of 3G.
3. Used Heimdall 1.3 over EH06 which was over EG22. Flashed everything but data, cache, and recovery.
4. Zeam Launcher
5. Yes, rooted.
6. Dozens of apps installed. From official and Amazon market. One app not from any market.
7. Charge daily. Leave on charger at work.
8. Luck of the draw on my phone?
Eg22 rom and modem. Maddoggins lock. Never a reboot. Working nicely. Seems after freezinga few thing the battery is gettting under control. Not even concerned w another flash til an official is released.
1. EG22, ROM and modem
2. Inside my house, there are some dead spots but outside its usually alright
3. Umm i think i put the tar or whatever in phone not PDA and no reset time(obviously)
4. GO Launcher EX
5. Of course
6. Um i think all are from official market that i can think of...?
7. I usually charge every night or just put in a spare battery
8. Well i use Eg22Plus Kernel and qbkings overscroll and battery percent mod. Also use necrosans Eg22 hotspot hack. Ive had one reboot EVER on gingerbread about 2 or 3 days after flashing EG22 but it was after tethering for 3 hours straight haha and i think the phone was just overloaded.
1. EH17 w/ ee03 modem
2. I usually have 5 bars with 3G when I'm using data, and on 4G I'll have two bars most of time. I guess every where I go in Nj have great signal.
3. I don't flash Roms with ODIN.
4. I used Tw4.5 by fr4ggor mostly, now I'm using spb 3d launcher.
5. Yes, I'm rooted
6. I have 28 apps installed from the official market.
7. I use my phone till it dies then charge it once it's dead, until its at a reasonable percentage, maybe like 60% - 70%.
* Idk why gb is successful for me I've been running the supercharger script and selecting option 12 & 9 with the last 3 GB builds*
*I usually delete the five terminal emu. that's installed with gb.*
I too had no reboots on EG22 rooted Bonsai B14. Will probably go back to that until then next leak and install the EH17 Browser with it. My reboots on everything else came with Wifi and also an Airave. So it is not signa related for me.

Never had reboots with any of the leaks unless I screwed around (prematurely hit disable or enable when it was already enabling/disabling) with wifi tether but that happens on ec05 as well.

I was on Stock EH06 across the board for a week or 2 and had no random reboots
I'm running eh17 v1.3 or hurricane rom and no reboots whatsoever
I'm running it with eh17plus kernel, and aio mod.
Oh and using the v6 script too

Stock EH06 with EH06+Kernel, EH06 Modem, and Honeycomb Theme 2.1
I also use AMM with my own custom values, but no other mods or modifiers
Haven't had a reboot for awhile, pretty much not since flashing the theme

There is now way possible that anyone of us can be 100% sure that we haven't got a random reboot unless we stare at the phone 24/7. The reboots can happen even when we are not attending to the phone or over night in our sleep.
I've had my phone work fine all day and when I get up at 0400h in the morning find my phone just finishing an SD CARD Scan because it rebooted.
IMBO, I believe that this affects all GB roms from the 1st leak to this last one, its an ongoing situation with Sammy / Sprint, possibly thats one of the reasons why we see an increment in the RDF pages...

Actually it's pretty easy to tell. Look at the uptime under Settings>Status>Up time. The number resets with every reboot. If you've never had a reboot it should correspond to the number of hours since you turned on the phone.

What version ROM, what version modem? EG22, Using EH06 modem.
Are percent of the time do you typically spend in a low signal strength area? A good amount here in NH.
What options did you have selected in ODIN when you flashed it?Just the middle option checked, modem in phone slot.
What launcher do you use? Varies. LP, GO, trying out Zeam
Is your phone rooted? Yes
How many apps do you have installed, and are not from an "official" market?Probably a couple
How long between charges?6-12 hours depending
Anything else you may thing contributes to your success with Gingerbread? Had a lot of bad luck with different combos of roms, kernels, and themes, I am staying pretty stock until official comes out. My gps works on EG22, and I get the upgrades of GB in general so I'm happy.
What version ROM, what version modem? V1.3 Hurricane[ERA]
Are percent of the time do you typically spend in a low signal strength area? Med-High signal strength
What options did you have selected in ODIN when you flashed it? Used the ".pit" fle nd "repartion" and "auto reboot" selected.
What launcher do you use? I use Go launcher EX.
Is your phone rooted? Yes
How many apps do you have installed, and are not from an "official" market? I have about 25 apps installed 3 aren't from market.
How long between charges? Usually 8-10 hours because of school.
Anything else you may thing contributes to your success with Gingerbread? Hm I feel the repartioningwith the stock deodexed rom helped and the hurricane rom is problem free, and using the EH17plus kernel seperate flash. Oh and the V8 Supercharger update-9 beta-ish script using the multitasing settings.

Oympus ROM, messing w v6... anyways, just wanted to point out, I get the reboots, sometimes with a lockup, that do NOT show up in uptime or the battery stats (stock). had one 12 hrs ago and both didnt catch it. Mine does the soft reboot, just blacks out then comes back a second later, starting into the SD scan. About every 3rd time, it locks up first, I cant get any response from onscreen or cap. buttons, then it vibes one quick burst then reboots. RAM crash? My ram is still high, any tips on a V6 setup would be appreciated, tried suggested ones around...

Grab the latest V6 (update9beta2) here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991276
MegaRam option #9 worked wonders for mine. Tried other options, but was still getting frequent 'soft' reboots when memory would leak out completely. I simply installed Advance Task Killer to monitor reboots, because anytime it would do a soft reboot the little green guy would be back.

[Q] Stock Nexus S Randomly rebooting

I've had my nexus s for almost a year and it's randomly rebooting. While in android 2.3 it rebooted once or twice a week. I thought that ICS would fix it, but it didn't, and now the phone is still rebooting, but only once or twice a month. I wasn't able to notice any thing or app that could cause the phone to reboot. Sometimes it's during a call, sometimes during a game, sometimes while i'm staring at the homescreen. I've looked at some logs and the problem seems to be the OS, because it say something like "critical android error, rebooting" before it reboots. The phone isn't rooted or any thing like that, and now it's in 4.0.3, updated OTA. Any ideas??

If its doing it on stock I doubt that will fix it. Random reboots once or twice a month doesn't seem like a huge deal really. I've had just about every high end android phone under the sun and if I only got one or two reboots a month on any of them I'd be happy.

Once or twice a month is not bad at all...
A reboot once or twice a month isn't really bad, that's true, but I was curious to know what was causing the phone to reboot. Thanks anyway.
I'm on stock 4.0.3 (i9023), was on stock 2.3.6. Had maybe one random reboot since I bought the phone (wich was about 3 or 4 months ago) and I think it was on Gingerbread (not sure though)... Not bad since I had more of them when using custom roms on my tiny X8 I had before.
I've done a full wipe and a full update when updating to ICS.
Hey guys, I have similar problem. I bought my Nexus S second-handed half a year ago. I had 2.3.6 at that time, and it used to reboot itself like once a day. But as the time passed by, the ammount of restarts increased to 3-5 per day. When the ICS was released, I rooted and manually updated ICS (I have european i9023 version, I'm from Czech Republic), with stock ICS rom and CWM recovery 5.0.2.0. I thought it would stop, but i was wrong. Then I read it was caused by some widgets (like Beautiful Widgets, bought, not cracked). It worked for some time after unistalling, reboots decreased, but now I am on the old level with 5 restarts a day. I tried everything, even full wipe, formated USB storage, didn't help. Do you think another kernel and custom rom could help, or is it some kind of HW problem? Thanks for any advice.

Help - Constant reboots

I received my Nexus 7 yesterday from google play. I played with it all night and everything was great. No manufacturing defaults that I can detect. I charged it up when I went to bed. I woke up this morning and played with it for about ten minutes and everything was cool. Now I'm at work and it starts rebooting every 20 seconds or so. I'm using Nova launcher so I enabled the default launcher. No good. I factory reset and its still boot looping. I was tethering to my phone so I disabled wifi. No change. Turned off GPS...no change. Can anyone think of anything else I can do? I really don't want to wait on hold with Google.
Thanks.

My Nexus 7 is on pre-order here in Australia, but I do have an Asus Transformer tab which reboots to no end.. I was kind of hoping the reboot issues wouldn't exist in the newer Asus-manufactured tabs .. this is not encouraging!
11 months after buying the TF101 and 3 RMAs and several OTA firmware updates and countless hard-resets, the random reboots are occurring.
My advice to you is bite the bullet and send it back ASAP and argue for a replacement. Don't think that you can just put up with it for a bit and wait for firmware updates, because trust me, it will drive u nuts!~
Yeah, I'm on hold now and have been for about an hour. I have to get this thing replaced as its useless. Its funny that if idle it is fine but as soon as I do anything it reboots. I was really looking forward to playing with it this weekend. I just hope they can ship a new one quickly.

If you're tethering, doesn't that mean you also rooted too? Did you change anything else?

Let me clarify. My phone is rooted and had wifi hotspot on. My tab is not rooted. Completely stock. I am still getting reboots after factory reset with wifi GPS and syncs turned off.

I'm starting to have rebooting issues too. It's not as often but it is happening and is very random. Hopefully it's nothing with the hardware.
Restore stock ROM before to ensure rooting didn't introduce any issues before wasting anyone's time with RMA.

I wish mine was something that simple. I've only had mine for 4 days so far and haven't done any mods to it. I'm going to try a factory wipe though to see if that helps.
Order placed for RMA for the reboot issue. Its currently not even booting. Its just giving me the boot animation. Very odd especially since I didn't root it. Anyone know if it will ship next day?

stock Pie 9.0.11 to 9.0.6 downgrade problems please help

Went from rooted device with stock rom 9.0.11 back to 9.0.6 because battery on 9.0.11 was not impressive after a couple weeks.
I followed this proccedure https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t/how-to/rom-stock-fastboot-roms-oneplus-6t-t3862516 , I downloaded the 9.0.6 fastboot zip file and then I extracted and opend the flash-all.bat file, Phone rebooted and everything was deleted (backup was already made), so at the moment I have 9.0.6.
A couple strange problem, youtube is acting very strange, the video stutters and there is not audio, also when trying to play spotify there is no sound at all. I think the flashing process was not really good otherwise I should have these kind of problems. Before I downgrade, everything was working fine.
So how should I procceed to fix this
Try clearing cache from stock recovery. Probably some things remained that need to be cleared out.
Also, I'm stock on 9.0.11 and get 2-3 days of great battery after a reboot, then performance degrades. At the moment I'm rebooting every 48-72 hours and all is well.

I fixed by following this guide https://phonebatao.com/guide-oneplus-6-how-to-downgrade-from-android-pie-9-0-to-android-oreo-8-1
so with 9.0.11 you have around 2/3 days batter life by rebooting your device at least 1/2 times to have that great battery lfe ? is that what your saying....
What I mean is that idle draw is quite low (2-3% overnight) for the first 2-3 days after a reboot. Actual time depends a lot on what I'm doing with it. If gaming , I get maybe a day off use before charging. If no gaming 2-3 days.

It varies widely. Some days i only use the phone 1 he SOT while others might be 5 hrs. I'm not predictable that way. But I know from many cycles that if I don't reboot by day 3 the idle draw goes up by a factor of 3-4. Rebooting cures it for a few days. Not sure where draw is from, Accubattery hasn't helped me narrow it down and I don't have BBS installed.
