Manually boot into recovery? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've researched it and cannot find a answer. Say if you get stuck in a boot loop and want to flash a nandroid backup or something. The only options I seen with the buttons when the device is off or whatever take you into download mode or a mode that only says factory reset.

On the Verizon model I have TWRP installed and hold power on+volume down and when it says the factory reset I just go ahead through it. The phone still has all your files. It just ends up wiping the OS.
Just my .02 cents because I've been in that position.

So if it wipes the os it leaves the phone in a permanent boot loop therefore not working if you do that, no?

Problem With TWRP Recovery

Sometimes. When I Reboot Into Recovery Mood. To Flash A Rom. The Phone Reboots Then The TWRP Logo Comes On With The Blue Screen. Then It Just Stays There? Doesn't Load Into Recovery. But Sometimes It Does. But It Freeze More On TWPR Logo. And I Have To Bring The Battery Out. Put Back In. And Do It Again Then Goes Into Recovery It Self. Is There Something Wrong With My TWRP Recovery?? Any Ideas

That is a known problem with 2.6.0.0
You need to d/l 2.5.0.2
You can find the link in this forum.
Try this link for using with mobile Odin lite.
http://db.tt/fx5Z70vq
This link can be flashed using your version of TWRP.
http://db.tt/CZmXST5v
EDIT: This seems to have been fixed in 2.6.1.0

Thankz man I appreciate it
So how do I flash this?
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda app-developers app
I don't know why there is a difference but I am using 2.6.0.0 and I experienced the freeze a couple of times. Which you only need to hold the power button until it reboots instead of pulling the battery. Since I started using my Extended Power Menu to boot into recovery that way I have not experienced a hang once. So it must be something with trying to cold boot into recovery, which I almost never do now.

Mobile Odin Lite should do the trick.

New problem with phone..

My LG-E612G was restored but had something worrying saying ".android_secure.img not found! Skipping restore of .android_secure.img!"
I then just shrugged it off, but when I rebooted it and got to my unlock screen, it powers off.
I already did a full wipe and restore. Now what?

I think that means there is no file for apps on external memory, don't worry, our phones don't support that.
After a restore over time (i mean, restore a back-up from a month ago) you have to wipe cahce & dalvik cache after restore
Try it

Even one on the 4th of September?
EDIT: Tried it. The only thing different from the boot up was that it said "Android is Upgrading: Optimizing applications 33 of 43"

Can't get into emergency mode. I'm screwed. Today is the day I had to use it.
When I return, I hope someone will have replied. :crying:
You'll get into recovery mode if you Connect your phone To the PC without battery while you press the vol. Down key. than you can restore it With kdz or LG Software update tool.

Thank you! I was FINALLY able to get into Download mode.
Thank you very much!
Right now it is in Download mode, and it is flashing.
Repeated errors.
Keep getting errors whenever I try to enter apps.
EDIT: Tried going into Recovery Mode, factory reseted my phone. That seems to have done the trick.

[Q] Infinite boot loop.

So I download flashily and boot into TRWP. I try to flash into cyanogenmod. It had the flashing screen for about an hour so I though it got stuck. I turned it off then back on and now I am stuck on the LG logo. Every time I turn it off it turns itself back on. How can I fix this? I made a backup does this help?
Can you get into TRWP?

Is there a certain button combination I'm supposed to hold down, because it's just stuck at the LG logo.
Powerand vol-. Let go at LG screen briefly. Power and vol- immediately and hold. How I do it, works every time. If you can't boot our repush recovery, time for stock hard flash.
You can't boot into one recovery from another. What are you trying to do?
Do what Steamer said and get into your Recovery - whichever one is already installed as default - you can only have one Recovery system loaded at a time. Once you're in Recovery, either restore your backup, or install a ROM that will boot. After its back to normal, THEN you can change recovery systems.

Phone wont boot up

so i installed CWM on my verizon G2. I went into recovery and wiped data. When it was formatting cache, it looked like it froze because it was taking forever. So i held the power button down so that i can reboot it. Now whenever i try to boot it back up, it stays on the LG screen for a couple minutes and stays on the ground zero roms boot up screen. Is there a way to get into recovery from boot? I've flashed many ROM's on many phone but i need help please so i can get my phone back up and running. Thank you

Turn phone off
Hold power and volume down until lg logo comes on then release and hold power and volume down again until you get into recovery.

Yes. You will get the factory screen. Do it. Press the power button twice. Trust me it will boot into cwm.
This is twrp but watch this video I made if you have doubt's. If you properly installed cwm which you probably did considering you wiped your data. This will work.

Update on my g2.

First, this is the thread in question Link
I ended up using this method to unbrick. I can now boot to recovery mode, however, twrp is unresponsive or the touch itself is just off, as in I'll click something, and itll click another thing. I cant swipe to do anything, etc. If the screen goes off, a giant twrp lock pops up asking me to swipe, and I cant really swipe, it's just frozen. For reference, I used this method Link
Any ideas? You guys have been awesome so far, btw. Totally gonna donate if my phone gets back on, regardless .
P.S- My twrp version is 2.6.3.2
I think its stuck, I minds well go and sell it -_-.
