After emailing back and forth with the HTC support team about the Leo's "too loud ear piece" and after asking me a million questions they finally sent me the Debug tool 3.4 to run it in my Leo and send them the logfile.
Well the stupid application it's been running for days and never seems to stop. It did create some 20 DM files on my SD card which can't be seen in explorer anymore. I put it into a card reader to see what's happening.
I hard reseted my Leo to stop the debugging tool but no use, I reflashed, taken out the sd card, but nu use the darn thing still runs and kills my battery! WIFI doesn't work either!!!
What should I do?
Please help!!!

I even swapped SD cards, formatted them you name it I've done it!
Please share your wisdom if you have an answer!!!
PS debug tool 3.4 is what's causing the problem!
Are you doing a hard reset without your sd card inserted?..
If the answer is yes, then try..
format your sd card, then flash a new rom using goldcard method.... it is virtually impossible for the file to stay storaged in the sd (after format) or the device (beacuse u did format it when doing the flashing process).
In makes sense but!

I know hard reset should have helped, but try letting the phone empty and then remove the battery for a couple of hours-day, then try it agian.
Mabey I don't get the question but.. how come it's still working with the debugging tool while the phone is flashed? The debugging tool is prob. placed on a special sector of the main memory normaly not accessed by a rom, the program it self doesn't run from normal memory sectors, so you might have a try with a SPL update/overwright. If all fails send it back, why would htc give you this program? they allways say send it back and you'll get a new one?...
please post the tool, might give some insight after disasm. MFG area is interesting.
It's been written to special memory place.
Again, please post the tool you were given
how are you doing a hard reset?, are you using the clean memory tool software on your device, or are u pressing vol up and down simultaneously while powering on the device...... I just dont get how the program stays in memory after hard reset, even after flashing.

I've attached the toll. I finally got rid of it by being able to rerun the program (which i prior tried a million times) and rewrite the parametres to "0" instead of 435 and 401. Give it a go if you know what you're doing and you can read log files.
regards,
G
You got rid of it. I edit out the post
Solution:
First backup your SD, after format with FAT32 .... reinstall your ROM and after insert your SD.
got dmmnit, glad u got rid of it, maybe we can learn how it.doez stick to the rom like that n use it in other apps like smartprotect. congrats!:
hi, do u mind sharing how u got rid of it?
I run this tool too, but after have no way to stop first try to read forum. Solution to stop program already is given from wmfreak. It is not need to make hard reset or to reformat SD card. Only things to do is to run program one more time and:

What happens with radio files etc? I'm inept if you didn't notice!
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
could you please post the files on other file host
if I went through this method would I also have root afterwards? or is that a separate process to be done first?
Nice one. Thank you 42turkeys. Worked like a charm on my Three UK Hero (other than the 170 and 171 error- but I did manage to sort it out...)
All perfect.

This is if you want to stay not rooted
If you do want to root then follow the link in my sig and you will have a 2.1 rom at the end of it.
Thanks 42turkeys. Am assuming then that it doesnt depend on build number.

Problem with this on Orange
Help! I tried this on an unrooted and unmolested Orange Hero, and when the SIM is in it now goes to a "SIM Network unlock PIN" screen.
If I remove the SIM, 2.1 seems to work fine (but just not as a phone!)

Work firewalls are a pain
I had to fight a battle just to get eurodroid.com recategorized from 'Pornography' to 'Technology'!
Is this method likely to work on my T-Mob G2?
I wonder if anyone here has tried it.
Friend at work tried it on his Orange Hero and had the same problem as Possum.
Also, it looks increasingly likely that I'll have to send my phone off to T-Mobile for a repair - do you reckon they'd make a song and dance about the fact I had 2.1 installed?

3. Just run a T-Mob RUU and send it off.

I accidently deleted both of the Transformers movie which comes on the HTC...does anyone know how to reinstall them without resetting my phone back to default. Thx
If you deleted the files off of the sdcard, a hard reset will not bring them back. You may be able to recover them with data recovery software but it's a long shot. You could try and go to a T-Mobile store and see if they have an sdcard from a returned unit.

Well, looks like I'm just going to have to let it go bc that would be a long shot. Plus, I'm sure there r other options where I could download other movies and save them to my phone, I hope...what do u think? Thx
you can try the file sharing sites worked for me when i needed to get the programs that came on the micro SD when 1st ran.
but however i had only backup my movies but not the programs.

Does it show 'Force Close'?
If so, you might need to flash the phone using SEUS, to correct the mediascape problem - you can install on a PC, by getting it from here:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/phones/topic/updateserviceapplication/xperiax10?cc=gb&lc=en
Then the problem should be fixed. Choose the option that says NOT to do a factory reset, if available, so you can keep your applications and settings.
Otherwise you'll have to choose the other option, then install your apps and settings again.
(I'm not sure how to use root access to fix this, due to the many apk files and odex files that 'mediascape' uses as a whole. This would be quicker, so if anyone has any ideas to help with this, please help.)

I wouldn't do that.
Just go to the HTC webside and download the latest official rom for your device using your serial number.
Run it and it will certainly clear everything.
i searched in the help section and all over htc website, and i cant find where to download this rom...
PS: thanks for the info though, i didnt know i can format my phone that way
