I do not wish to put contacts in regulars contacts folder or sync using some cloud server, gmail or Google sync. Is there a way to transfer contacts from a previously backed up contacts on an older Samsung Note 2 directly to the Note 3 contacts?
How about syncing so e contacts from a MacBook Pro to the Knox Contacts? Can this be done? If so, how? Not regular contacts but into Knox Contacts only.

Hello,
I understand that Google Sync is supposed to keep my contacts safe so I never loose them.
I initially started of with a nokia 5230, I used Ovi Suite to import all my contacts in Outlook, then I got them to my HTC Hero with HTC Sync. All great.
I also notice I have contacts that where in my gmail account, and I've even linked them with my phone and facebook contacts.
However, if I now login to my Gmail account, I only see the gmail contacts in there, no phone contacts.
I had the same problem. In your 'People' application (Contacts) on the phone, if you hit menu and then export the contacts to your SD card, you can then import them back to your Google contacts area on the phone. This is the only contacts/People area that will synchronise with Google.
After doing that, just go into View under the contacts menu and choose to view only Google contacts. The phone contacts list will still be there just not viewable as you will be loking at Google contacts instead.
I have done this and avoid sync with Outlook as I was getting too many duplicates - all synchronisation now is direct between the phone and Google. I do however use Coogle Calendar Sync between Google and Outlook and it seems to work OK.
Hope this helps.
Thanks, I'll try that.
Hi everybody!
Yesterday I've bought HTC Desire Z, amazing device, but there's this thing ...
before, when I owned Windows Mobile device, I used to sync it with Outlook via cable and to Google contacts and calendar via active sync (google sync for phone ...) and I've the same contacts and calendar in Outlook (which I consider to be my primary PIM).
Now what I did with Desire Z - first, I've deleted all my Google contacts and calendar events. Then I synced Desire Z with Outlook using HTC sync and after that I set up google account on device and set it to automatically sync contacts and calendar. But no contacts and calendars are synced.
My question is - am I doing something wrong, or is this standard behavior, that the contacts are not synced between different sources?
If this is the standard way, how do you keep it synced also with google?
These are not synced with each other crossed.

htc sync will have created "phone" contacts not "google" contacts. You will need to create a .csv file in outlook and then login to your gmail account on a computer and upload this file.
This will create "google" contacts for your phone to sync with. Once this is done it's best to ditch outlook sync. It just gets in the way and causes strange duplicates and errors.
Hello,
I'm having duplicate contacts on my phone. Can anyone help?
I'm getting 2 contacts for everything. Looks like the phone is creating multiple contacts, Is it possible to avoid this (rather than stop syncing with fb and gtalk)
thanks
Maybe it's showing your google contacts and your phone contacts, or your phone and sim contacts, have a look in your settings in the contacts screen, and make sure you only have one of the settings ticked.
Also if you are importing to gmail account, you can use gmail to remove duplicate contacts.
It all depends where the contacts come from.
If you go into the gmail web version on a computer and look up the contacts and there are duplicates - then delete the duplicates and sync.
If the duplicate contacts are stored on the SIM - then either delete them or choose the option not to view them.
If the duplicate contacts are stored on the phone (but do not sync with gmail) - I would just delete them (you could always back them up with KIES on the computer).
If the duplicate contacts come from different applications (gmail, facebook, etc) then you just 'link' them. This way gmail will sync only with the gamil contacts and Facebook will only sync with the facebook contacts but most importantly you only see a single contact with all the info from both souces in it.

Is there any way to backup and restore linked contacts when you do a full wipe and restore? Titanium Backup doesn't seem to like doing this, and linking them again really annoys me.
Any ideas?
i set up syncing our exchange server. back in the days with my htc sensation it synced only my private contacts. the s4 synced all public contacts. now i have like 8000 contacts on my phone. how to get rid of them and sync only my private contacts of the exchange server?
it seems like, it is only possible to sync all folders.

i tried to use the workaround, but the whatsapp sync already used all phone numbers, so i also have like 1000 new whatsapp contacts, i even never seen in my life....
the next problem is, the contacts may be hidden, but if you try to find a contact in the phone app, the hidden contacts by groups won't be hidden and it's nearly impossible to find a contact very fast.
that "feature" is really disappointing. i also don't know what to do now? should i start deleting contacts? i'm affraid the sync will delete them in our exchange server. but how to delete them only in whatsapp?
my solution:
- stop sync with exchange
- clear whatsapp data / cache
- delete all exchange contacts with kies
- send all contacts from my old htc phone to the s4
Hi All,
Both my Nokia 6s' have stopped copying / syncing Contacts from Outlook for Android into the phones Android Contacts App.
Up until a week ago all my Contacts in Outlook were also found / sync'd in Android Contacts but some reason this abruptly stopped. I can see all my Contacts in the Outlook App, but I also see that the Outlook account is not found in Android Contacts and it does not let me add a new (Outlook) account. Also, the "Sync Contacts" slider in Outlook for Android is missing.
I have tried Reset Account, Delete Account, uninstall / re-install App etc. in Outlook (on both devices) but without any luck.
It is strange that this is happening on both devices. Is anyone else having the same issue?
I've never been able to get the Outlook App contacts to sync with Android contacts. However, the way I got around to do fixing this was to add another account to the stock GMAIL app on the phone with the Exchange credentials. For whatever reason, then I can get two-way syncing of contacts between my phone and Outlook. If there is a better way to do this, please post here!
Thanks
I also sync Outlook contacts by addimg my adding an Exchange Account via Settings-Accounts options, then manually configuring it.
