absolutely nexus 4 !!! i didnt buy my nexus with the great price of google store i paid around 450 euros and i never will regret this treasure i get better support better quality better development and better community is are biggest pros.. a great screen maybe not 1080p but still amazing and both have same spec almost both snapdragon s4 pro with 2 gb ram but can u say Z is more beautiful than N4?! choose google! u will have the support from mama! :good:
I went from N4 to an XZ then back to an N4. I found the XZ too big and awkward to use, it lags a bit more than the N4 too.
Or maybe Xiaomi MI2S? Currently beats all phones!
Its the Nexus 4 forum, it'll be obviously biased towards the Nexus 4.

I used one for a bit in a Sony store. I didn't like it. It felt more uncomfortable in the hand, it lagged, and even though the screen was 1080p, it looked worse. The colors looked way off, didn't really look great, and the viewing angles were terrible. I would get a Nexus 4.

If I was going to buy the phone JUST to use it, no developing no nothing, I'd get the XZ. It looks great and it performs well.
If I was going to buy the phone to mod and develop, I'd get the nexus 4.
That's another reason I went back to the N4, the dev community for the XZ isn't very active. For example there's only 1 custom kernel and it only works with stock based roms. I was bored.

My last few phones were
Note 1, Note 2, SGS4, and now Mega
I do like Samsung phones, but it feels like a downgrade going from a 6.3 to 5.7 (half an inch)
The Z ultra on the other hand has a larger 1080p screen! but inferior camera and no flash. Undoubetely, the Z ultra will have **** poor call quality and loudspeaker...
Anyone in a similar boat?
The ZUltras looks and screen with the Note 3 camera and hardware would have made a perfect phone for me...

I owed Sony ZU 3G for about 3 weeks. It is a nice phone, especially for the ability to play ppsspp smoothly with PS3 wireless controller.
Great screen, speed, water prove, usable camera.
The resaons that I sold it on ebay are two things... first, battery life is just a little bit better than Galaxy note. Not so durable.
Second, it only got 16gb rom with about 10gb left for user. Yes, you can root for app2sd, but it would be better to get a larger rom inside without worrying about app2sd things.
So depends on your needs. For battery issue, sony will have a CP2 battery case which will cost you $250 for extra 3000mah battery juice.

Note 3. I had the ZU for a couple of weeks. Was too big because of the huge bezels. Scratched extremely easy.
Great screen for viewing videos and such. Would make a better tablet than phone.
The Note 3 is more than just a large smartphone. If you can make use of its vast array of productivity features, go for it. Integrated stylus > Not stylus for such tasks. (3rd party styli cannot compare)
Note 3 is on another level... please don't compare the two.
Sony ultra is a joke... There's a fine line between phablet and tablet and that device crosses it.

Yes, but at least the Note was pocket-able. The Ultra is an absolute joke. You need to be a Hulk to have trousers big enough to fit the device easily without creating discomfort.

Being flippant that would depend on the depth of the water. I am just waiting for Ultra owners to sit down and hear that cracking sound......
Hey I own the Xperia Z and the Xperia tablet 10.1, They are superb and I have no desire to change the tablet. I want a larger screen though but not even I can justify the Ultra's size. How on earth are you going to transport that around?
This is a question of choice. There will be a market for both devices.
I would like to see a new brand called Sonsam. Sony materials and design with Samsung internal know how.

the area Xperia z ultra really beats note 3 is build quality and it's waterproof. Every other dept including ease of use has to go to note 3. Btw I'm not a samsung fan nor sony just prefer better product.

I like the Sony finish. If you have trousers and pockets or a bag just go ultra. But it is big a lot bigger than the Note. Could you really make this your phone? If you need a tablet with phone functions via a bluetooth headset get the Sony, otherwise go Note.

So the fact that the Z ultra doesn't have removable/replaceable battery, no sd card slot, less powerful hardware, no S-pen capabilities, no flash and ridiculous big bezels , is not that relevant to you?

I did say they were 2 different devices appealling to different requirements/people.
You could say the Note isnt waterproof... who cares.. just a different appeal for different people...
I am thinking of jumping ship to Xperia Z Ultra. What do you guys think. It has a ****ty camera but all other internals beat S4..

I guess not getting it, saw it at the Sony Store today, it is a mini tablet, it is super thin though. I dont mind the screen since I work from home most of the time and would be nice to have that big of a screen on a phone, can be a mini ebook reader.
Either way Z1 and Note 3 seem like a better buy,, so expensive though Saving up!
And Z Ultra looked fragile. Its like a huge sheet of paper.

LG G2 is nice but no MicroSD card is a dealbreaker >.<

I thought of waiting for Note 4 but most probably will come to life at period from Sept to December and that's a lot of time.

How do you find the storage. I like being able to plug in a microsd (though it's mainly full of nandroid backups)

Whatever it is, will likely be an American model for whatever I choose. I will probably end up buying it off of the Google Play Store, as I don't like the bloat that the OEM's put on the phones. My wife has a MotoG that was purchased recently, and except for the MicroSD expandable storage and the removable battery, it meets all the specifications of the SGS III. It suits her fine, but I find these aspects a nessecity in a mobile phone. I don't know what my next phone will be, but it must be able to take MicroSD cards, and have a removable battery.

I'll buy a Sony Xperia Z1 Compact now.
My S3's display shattered for the second time now and I am fed up with minor annoyances with CM11 (no 5 GHz Wifi, Bluetooth range problems (maybe related), battery drain after 1st call). The bloated stock firmware doesn't attract me either.
Additionally, Samsung's open source support is mediocre.
Plus, the S3 screen could be a bit smaller for my hands.
Don't get me wrong – the S3 is a great phone, there are just some small details that annoy me. Oh, OLED display – how I love it...
But when I get the chance to unlock a Z1 bootloader or get an unlocked phone, I'll switch.
So far I'm not impressed with the lineup, so I'm sticking with the S3 for now.
The new HTC One looks really nice but I can't live with such a crappy camera. And I don't wanna buy another Samsung phone so the Galaxy S5 is out.
The Sony Xperia Z2 seemed nice, but it's just way too large for me. I'm hoping for a Z2 Compact to come out soon. If it keeps the awesome specs of the Z2 in a small package, I am so sold!
The One Plus looks interesting, but I got a feeling it will be in short supply initially, and by the time it's available the LG G3 is probably out and some leaks of the new Nexus will probably be out.
All in all, an interesting year if you're patient Also the S3 is serving me fine, running a Kitkat ROM on it and it flies and feels as new. My only gripe is that im missing a lot of the Samsung features (camera features, face detection, Allshare etc), but if the elusive offical Kitkat update from Samsung ever comes, there might not even be a need to update my phone this year

I have already ordered Note 3 so that's what I will have as main phone ans s3 as a secondary one, it's so good to leave it behind or sell it. Note 3 for the bigger screen, stylus and snapdragon 800.

That isn't much time, give it two weeks at least and many more recharge cycles.
How high is your screen brightness set to ? auto or some fixed value.
Going outdoors in auto will boost brightness a lot, this will kill the battery much faster but at least you will be able to see the screen unlike others.

I came from Galaxy Note 3 to Xperia Z2 and I can really recommend it. Battery life has been better for me on Sony and other than that you get bonuses only, premium design, stereo speakers (although a bit silent), water resistant, very good camera, lightweight Android skin from Sony etc.
I would recommend.
I loved my Note 2, the Note 3 was even better, but I tired of Samsung TouchWiz. I just got my Z2 and appreciate Song's minimalistic skin. The Z2 has a lot of great things going for it!

This! The number of times I've used my phone when out about, friends or acquaintances have asked me what phone it is often saying they've never seen it and that it looks amazing.
I have z2 and taking photos they were never blurred in the background. Did they clean the lens from fingerprints. Total fake or old software. As also the kidding sharpness of sgs 5.Tried them both in same occasion and place. Z2 was not far worse than S5 but still a first class in compact cams, and hits perfectly clear macro scene, next time use a cam holder if you have shaky hands.
Z2 is much better than S5
I've had S5 then I bought Z2 later..
Z2 is much better in everything except the camera flash and the smaller bezel
2 GB ram of S5 is too much stupid... even with greenify..
mali 628 gpu is laggy
AMOLED screen drain much battery in white color.. you have to use dark mod apps
