[Q] Upgraded during glitch, phone exchange? - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, question for any of the verizon "experts"
i upgraded my phone during the verizon "glitch" and decided to not pre order the note 3 but instead get a different phone.
Now that the note 3 is available tomorrow, would i be able to exchange my current phone to the note 3 (within 14 day exchange policy) without me losing my unlimited? When i picked up my original new phone the lady at the store said i should be able to exchange it no problem, but I just want to double check because I dont want to lose my unlimited.
thanks guys!

it's all dependent on how the transaction is processed within Verizon.
I work for a retailer and we use a different system then corporate stores but for us, when it's done as a "exchange" it just swaps ESNs.
However if it's done as a return then the upgrade is applied back on the account and you'd lose said unlimited when the upgrade is processed again.

Sorry if this is a stupid question but what site are you reffering to?

I am pretty sure that cingular gives you 30 days to try anything - any handset, any service.
i know a couple of people that have ordered phones with plans and data to get them cheap, then as soon as they activate their account they can go into OLAM (Online Account Manager) and cancel the data plan... and dont get charged for the phone, etc..
Very nice! If only I needed another line...

well... get a free phone, wait 30 days, sell the phone on ebay for 300-400 and pay the cheaper ETF... i cant see loosing
I got my 8525 like 2 months ago and I was premier eligible but when I saw the price I laughed and didn't add the data and voice to see it go to 0.00.
What kind of argument do you think I can make to cingular to see if they will refund me the phone price? I was able to get the phone for 225 before mail in rebate (100 Dollars) through cingular's tech support. However, do you think I have a shot at getting that 225 back because I have been workign for a company that was and has been certified to qualify for this program.

i dont think you will be able to get the 225$ back, cause phone prices go down over time as newer models come out . imagine everybody wanting thier money back on a phone that is offered for free now...

depends on the agreement with your company, etc... i believe that att employee's can do 4 upgrades per line per 12 months...
Unless there are different deals for different companies, which there may very well be, the deal that I see is a free 8500, I don't see the same free option for the 8525
I also checked my Premier account, and it didn't show any deals like are being talked about on the 8525. I then called AT&T Premier cust. service and was told that the Premier accounts are different for all companies and educational institutions. Each "store is unique".
yeah they are different. Some have ETF and some dont. You have to add the phone and data packages for the phone to go to $0.
Just checked my premiere and it changed to zero after adding everything also but I bought my 8525 when it first came out so I'm not upset.
I'll be waiting for the replacement before I try and upgrades..
some have reported using different emails and getting multiple phones (1 per email) and then combining them on a family plan.
I used 1 email address (my wifes) and bought 4 phones for different family members. Each one had different billing info, and I called at&t and had each one added to the family plan of that family member. Of note is that as these all required having a pre-existing numbers ported to them I had to go down to the local AT&T shop and pickup new (3g capable) sim cards. They noted in my account and I got these free of course.
I kept the data plans, so I can not speak to that.
My only suggestion in dealing with AT&T is if you are canceling an old (out of contract) line, deal with that after you have done the porting. Imply that you are simply switching the numbers as you want to use this new phone as your primary. Once that is all taken care of, cancel the old line. Otherwise they may give you a bit of grief about inter-company number porting, its BS, but that doesn't stop them.

Price Match G2 Policies

Hey guys, just looking for some information on policies regarding price matching/returning a phone for the g2.
I purchased from radio shack about 10 days ago with a new contract. To my disappointment, I found that costco is offering it for much less. If I return the phone to Radio Shack, will I be eligible to get the new contract price at costco? Will Radio Shack or Costco require me to terminate my new contract in order to switch over to costco within the remorse period? I talked to a sales rep at costco and he wasn't exactly sure. I will be going to RS later today but just thought I would get some advice from people before doing so. It turns out RS doesn't price match which gives me even more reason not to do business with them in the future. I'm shocked that they don't see it as necessary to their business to price match in order to keep customers like me who will often find better deals. They have hundreds to lose without price match, less than 100 to lose otherwise...Thanks in advance.
T-Mobile told me that even if they (or wherever you bought it) allow you to return it (Within your remorse period or whatever) it will probably not give you your upgrade back. However if you created a new contract all together I'm not sure. They did also tell me to be careful about indirect dealers as their contracts can be more stringent than t-mobile's are.

When I returned my G2s under the buyer's remorse period, the Retentions agent made sure the upgrade eligibility on both lines was reset. She then confirmed we haven't done a handset upgrade through T-Mobile in over 4 years now.
you have 14 days to cancel you contract and return your phone. you should not have any problems in doing that.
i got mine at costco, and was thinking about returning it, and geting it from T-mobile store (don't ask why ), they told me that could be done with no problem.
I know I can return it after 14 days. My question is, if I purchased and returned from one store then decided to purchase the phone from another company, will I have to sign up for a new contract all together? Or does t-mobile hold on to the new contract I created and still give me the new contract price?
when you return it, cancel everything. so then you go to costco as a brand new customer and get the phone for $150 - mail in rebate, + bluetooth and other crap.
Also, i got mine at costco a week ago at $200, so i had to go back and be there for 2 hours, for them to figure out how i can get my $100 back. So i had to kinda return it and buy my phone back.
Just saying, if anyone is in the same situation like i was. Costco people are willing to give you your $100 back!

You shouldn't have to. When you returned your phone, everything (upgrade eligibility and rate plan) should be reset to what you had previously before you upgraded.
After returning my G2s, the rep confirmed my upgrade eligibility was reset back to 2006 and my rate plan I was on previously expired in 2008.

You have to specifically speak to loyalty to get that done though, regular reps cannot reset you upgrade like that (They can only make a note on your account). I.E. If you return it, you will have to speak to loyalty to get your upgrade through an indirect dealer, however you can speak to a regular rep and you can then order from T-Mobile. The rep didn't tell me it was impossible to get your upgrade back and then use it through an indirect dealer, just that they were having some trouble with that.
There is actually no way to reset upgrade contract eligibility. Even retention can only note the account. Due to system limitations once an upgrade is processed there is no way to make the system say eligible. The price will have to be overridden by care or retention. Retail stores will not be able to match the full discount again without talking a loss until 22 months have passed again. It sux for everyone but its the only way for now.

30 days or so to reset eligibility for 3rd party providers
I had returned a vibrant to a t-mobile store, after failing to obtain an extension on the buyers remorse (gps, retarded file system requiring lag fix, lack of HSPA+, etc)....At the time I was told that my eligibility was correctly reset, etc but online it was clear that my eligibility was not reset...Loyalty told me that it takes at least a month for the eligibility to be available to third party suppliers, and that only customer service (or a store talking to customer service) could override the price before that time....This created a mess with third party sources....Thanks T-mobile....These onerous business practices and policies of T-mobile do not foster customer trust or goodwill, in fact quite the opposite...
I will be keeping the G2, and pray that full root is achieved soon....temp-root is ok for wireless tethering, etc; but not for optimized ROMS....(I can't believe how much smoother the unit seems to run when comparised to galaxy s)
yea u will have to cancel it. but what i was thinking about was, what if you went ahead and opened the new account with costco while ur radio shack created account was still open, then instead of clicking new contract, you click, use existing number (which would automatically force close or cancel your radio shack account) then go return your radio shack phone so you dont get billed for it and keep your number. lol i wonder if that would work hmmmmm....
Thanks T-mobile for your arrogance ....
Thanks T-mobile for your arrogance .... I want to say, this happening to me too.
I will never forget, how you treat me, and never trust T-Mobile in future

[Q] Verizon concession line

Hello first thread here, love the forums it has helped me so much to learn about the phone world so thanks for that.
Hello I was able to set up myself with a Verizon concession line through working at BestBuy. I have the unlimited plan for about 30$ a mo.
I quit BestBuy about 6 months ago and so far I still get the discount, I do not plan trying to lose it anytime soon if I can hold onto it.
Now I've heard from my old coworkers that as long as you don't do a yearly upgrade they wont catch on and change it back seeing you're no longer employed.
Is there anyway around this to where I can upgrade my phone? I'm running a Dx which I love but Iv been dying for something new like the galaxy s II.
Concession lines never come up for upgrade as they are not contract plans. Your my verizon may say you have a pending upgrade but if yoy try to do it it will fail

stayin, VZW concession lines are eligible for upgrade every ten months, but you can only pick from the phones they offer you, which is usually three recent models.
Envain, this isn't true. If your rep finds out you are no longer employed, you will have you concession account converted to a consumer account. Also, if VZW provided you with the Droid X, they own that equipment, and could charge you for it once they discover you're not employed. Proceed at your own risk.
Droid x was purchased by me, i believe the rep i worked with just used my MEID or something to attach my phone with this new plan/account/whathaveyou.
Only way i can get service help is calling the Verizon Business number, if i provide them with a new MEID of a phone i buy out wright, if they allow this it should activate the new phone for my use right? I figured I would have to pay the full price for the phone i choose.
i currently work for BBY mobile how did you get the concession account? at store, over phone or through the rep? thanks
I have a similar concession account and to my knowledge as long as you're buying the phones outright, you're good to go. Just call your direct contact and they can activate the phone. With LTE phones is even easier as all you do is buy the new phone and put your existing SIM into that phone.
As far as upgrades, I don't think we can ever use them
There must be different types of accounts, mine never comes up for upgrade, nor do any of the indirect agents I know...

Yeah I don't think we can use it. That's why we pay $25 a month
Your former manager will likely do housekeeping at some point, even if it's not until budget time. That doesn't sound like a "concession line" though since you have to pay something for it. A real "concession line" may have different procedures. I believe you are talking about a "discount employee line". If so, I believe the system either catches up by itself, or the same will apply when your former manager does housekeeping.
your rep and your manager
It all depends on them and how often they check up on everything. At my store it would be cake because our Rep never checks in on anything. The only thing your manager can do is inform your Rep that you don't work there anymore. That is a concession line its just not the free one which is only for managers and you don't get an upgrade but they let you choose from.a list of devices which they will send you for free which you have to keep for ten months and then they are yours. Your only option here is buying a phone flat out or from a person and then doing your device swap online. And to answer the question about how to sign up for the plan you just email your Rep and she/he will email you with the forms to fill out. Be forewarned that if you are porting in you WILL lose service on your current phone. But I've known past employees that have had their concession lines for years without losing them.
Damn just wrote a novel sorry for the block of text but hope it helps.
does anyone know how to get the concession line started? I sent in the Sales Maker form to my Indirect Agent but it's been two months and I still work for the mobile department. can I use the employee verification form and snail mail it to the address instead?

You need to call your Verizon rep and have them forward that form immediately. Stay on him/her to get it done. It shouldn't take more than 2-3 weeks AT THE MOST.

Dilemma with Verizon

Well, here is my dilemma:
My wife signed me up for Verizon, and got me the Samsung Continuum for free from them. Had I known about this, I would of definitely done more research, and got at least a phone that's not EOL. Either way, I'm sorta happy with the phone after I rooted it and it's now using Froyo.
This is all hypothetically speaking, but since I'm still in the 14 days, could I order a free phone from wirefly(probably Incredible 2 or X2) get that activated as a 2nd line, and drop my original line, and have it back as a single line with no ETF within the 14 days? I would be basically just upgraded to the free X2 or I2 and dropping this dead device I have now? Had I known all of this in advance, I would of just of went through wirefly start with, but I didn't know it was even happening until I got home from work and was handed it as a anniversary gift.
Or are there any other clever ways to get around this. Could I just drop the service I have now altogether, and then sign up again through wirefly or walmart and get the free Incredible 2?
Any help on this would be appreciated, thanks.
yes you can take it back before the 14 days are up and yull just have to pay a 34$ restocking fee then u can get whatever phone u want however you only get 2 returns in those 14 days. and i believe how the data usage goes u pay by how many nights u used it or atleast thats how it was when i returned that mifi thing.
I understand I can exchange my phone, but it was ordered through Verizon Wireless online, and if I wanted to exchange it, it would cost me $200 to upgrade to the Incredible 2. Is there a way I can return it, while keeping the service active, and order a free Incredible 2 through wirefly or walmart, and it be my main line.
Yes I was actually talking to them about doing that for me bassicly u diactivate it at the verizon store and go get whatever phone u whant and have that store activate it the only problem is the rep at the vw store looses the cometition and you won't be able to keep your number. Just talk to the sales rep at vw it maybe a hit or miss getting them to do that because of the whole commission thing.
Sent from my de binged samsung continuum
Woah, the problem is the contract I think: you can put any device you want on your existing Verizon acct, but IIRC Wirefly requires a NEW account for their free phones.
Try walmart or bestbuy
And the contract isn't a problem because as long as your in the 14 day grace period your fine.

Exchanging BRAND New Replacement with different kind of Phone

Hi, So I have been talking with an AT&T Rep through email/Phone (The Same Guy) About my LG Nitro and Service Issues. Well he went ahead and SENT me a new phone(Not referb). Well anyways he said since the phone is new when I go to activate it(They want me to activate it with the toll free number with new sim and everything) that they will charge the upgrade fee (But he said he would take it off for me) then change my Upgrade date to the day that I activate it since it was new.
I got it through the mail today. and it has a receipt it all says $0.00 but at the bottom it says Return Policy saying I can exchange/Return within a certain amount of days. Do you think the store would let me do so?? To say get a Galaxy Note?
And no I WAS NOT DUE for an upgrade I used it LAST Month. But its technolty renewing my contract when activing this phone.
So do u think it could be done? I would go in to the store but I DONT Want to WASTE a trip. Its about an hour away.
Can't you Just put ur old SIM in this phone? It's what I would do. Then it wouldn't renew your contract. To answer your question I think you might have to call the store and, ask.
