Is it just me or are the ringtones kind of soft on the G2? My other phones were almost twice as loud.
idk mines seems to be just right under the g1 with the sound hack 2 i believe. Either way i can hear it all the way i the front room or bathroom or my house so its good enough for me. Maybe its your ringtone also?
whats sound hack and how can i use it???
Either way i think its loud enough. I havent had problems hearing it. What i wish was louder is the speaker for in call volume. It sounds too low

What's best when using stock HTC Desire Z rom?
Andre
If it's for music only, Power Amp has a nice eq.

I use PowerAMP already (great program). I was asking about what software to use with a stock Desire Z rom (rooted) to increase the speaker volume for ringtones/etc.
Andre
i havent used this app since my hero, but i used to have LVH (loud volume hack) it increased the volume on the whole device and worked perfectly

Does the DSPmanager affect the speaker volume in general, or just specific things like audio?
The speaker and poor camera quality are the two achilles heels of the G2. If I could increase the volume of the speakerphone and rings, it would definitely boost my already deep love for the G2

I guess its hit or miss with the camera. I always get compliments on photos I've taken they always seem to come out very well. With DSP manager you can adjust the phone speaker some. I no I have my bass boosted and EQ up some on the phone speaker. My ring tones are certianly audible.

I think the probleme ins't caused by software but yes from hardware :S...I have this probleme too....mine touch pro 2 Is much better in sounds than g2
So I've recently been using my tablet to play music onto my nice dj style headphones. But output volume and quality is absolutely horrendous. I have to be at full volume to get and reasonably level sound, and then when I'm at that level, everything is very distorted. On my one X which has some beats eq thing, sound is wonderful and much louder. Maybe this is just a problem with stock Android, but I need to find some way to get much higher quality and more importantly louder music. I've tried a few mods available here but they don't seem to do much.

What mods have you tried. I use awesome beats on my galaxy nexus. If not that trickster mod app has a setting to make the volume high. (Correct me if I'm wrong) I have my galaxy nexus stock and rooted.

I have tried awesome beats and it doesn't seem to do much. I also tried AC!D mod and for some reason, whenever I started to play audio, my tablet would freeze up

I haven't used much except for DSP, but the audio is just difficult to have it loud. I've found external speakers BT or through audio jack is the only way to go.
Be careful what you try because I've read about people blowing their speaker trying to increase volume. That being said volume+ from the play store worked when it wasn't fighting the other sound mods I had installed. Pimp my ROM app. has some flashable zips that helped. Bottom line its one of the sacrifices that kept the price of the N7 low. Better the speaker to be mediocre rather than the screen. I bought some ear buds and if I want to play it loud for the neighbors I jack in to a stereo. Also a set of desktop computer speakers (sub and two bookshelf) work great with tablets

I use my N7 speaker to listen to music and get quite surprised and how loud it gets and don't notice any distortion. So I'm not experiencing what you are. Maybe I'm just easily pleased and aren't as passionate about audio quality as others
Sorry to say this but, it will never sound good. Not even with sound mods. The sound chip inside the N7 is just really, really bad. I've tried it with a pair of $900 Shure headphones and nothing can save this thing.
As per gsmarena review audio(Music) is not loud enough. I know this, Samsung does the same to their phones. This is a big let down for me, won't hold back from buying this though.
Any suggestions on how i can improve the sound immediately after i buy this phone. Not sure what kind of dev support we may get for this phone.

The review stated the speaker. Other reviews have said the speaker is fine, and I haven't found a reviewer who hasn't thought it was fantastic with headphones. I believe he said it was a test unit and the software wasn't final, perhaps they will ramp up the volume.

May be you are right. One more week and we will have the device in AT&T stores (sep 13th). I will go test it and give an update in this thread.
i will maybe buy the G2 also and because it has S800 SoC i can ask someone who made the best soundmod or is still updating the best sound mod for hox and he is also making soundmods for his xperia z and the htc One ...so then i can ask which files to change for speaker output to see how far we can change but the speakers should be better WAY better then hox haha ...but i also hope to get his device...
A guy on head fi has reported great things on audio quality. He got a Korean model, which has smaller battery but SD card slot.

Anyone know if there are tweaks for Qualcomm chips to boost hardware volume, like it works on Galaxy w/Exynos & Wolfson?
Yep there are tweaks but zeroinfinity or me could take a look if full system dumb is available...normal headphone sound will be surely tweaked but for speaker we have to look then in

There definitely are tweaks, the Nexus 4 loudspeaker was horrible until flashing kernels that fixed it.
a quick question guys ...
How is speaker / audio level and quality compared to galaxy Note 2 ?
Im going to get my G2 tomorrow and i want to make sure i got everything covered up
The speaker is pretty loud for me. Almost as loud as note 2.i think sound quality is better on g2.
Sent from my LG-D801 using xda app-developers app
The most frustrating bit is they cap the max volume at IEM levels to 'protect' your hearing. If you want to use it as a line out or drive circumaural cans, they don't get loud enough.
Dear LG, I don't need you to protect me from myself. Let me have the full amp range.
I actually happened to compare the speaker to a friend's note 2 the other day. the note 2 was louder sitting on the table, but i've found the way it works best is when i'm holding the phone and cupping the speaker towards me. it makes an incredible difference, but i'm not sure what that does to quality. in that case it's louder than the note 2.
I wonder if there is a way to turn off the settings where it auto lowers the volume when something is plugged into it. I have a speaker I use in the restroom when in the shower, and the volume output is much much lower than with my Gnex. Also, I use my AUX cord to plug into my car (because thats the only way to get it onto my speakers, and the one part that is annoying- is that I can't access the volume buttons easily with it in the car dock.
Anyway to increase the Speaker volume? Since we don't have root, volume mods are a no go.
Sound quality and Effects helps me a bunch although not everything works for speaker

I like the S4 speaker better than the S7 speaker. Being that the S7 speaker is waterproof, the speaker wasn't designed for high undistorted sound output. Driving the speaker with more power could lead to premature failure. A small external powered speaker should provide better results when used with the equalizer. A bluetooth speaker is a better wireless alternative.

I agree. The speaker sound pretty good though it isn't loud. A Bluetooth speaker can be bought for next to nothing and will sound better than any phone speaker.

I just need a notch or two louder. I rooted and made my Note 4 louder and the Speaker held up just fine.

I have rooted my notes, amended the mixer_paths or mixer_gains (kit-kat and lollipop respectively) to pump the volume for speaker, headset and bluetooth with dramatic results. I find the S7 edge speaker to be marginally satisfactory, the corded headset to be dissatisfactory and bluetooth headset plantronics backbeat go 2) to be a good fit for my sub-par hearing.
Without root there's nothing we can do to effectively increase the volume. Get hearing aids (I have 'em), and find headsets that are up to the task. Pas I say, my plantronics do a good job for me, although I have ample volume with room to spare with my rooted/edited mixer_paths on my note 5.
How about now?
