What's best when using stock HTC Desire Z rom?
Andre
If it's for music only, Power Amp has a nice eq.

I use PowerAMP already (great program). I was asking about what software to use with a stock Desire Z rom (rooted) to increase the speaker volume for ringtones/etc.
Andre
i havent used this app since my hero, but i used to have LVH (loud volume hack) it increased the volume on the whole device and worked perfectly

Does the DSPmanager affect the speaker volume in general, or just specific things like audio?
The speaker and poor camera quality are the two achilles heels of the G2. If I could increase the volume of the speakerphone and rings, it would definitely boost my already deep love for the G2

I guess its hit or miss with the camera. I always get compliments on photos I've taken they always seem to come out very well. With DSP manager you can adjust the phone speaker some. I no I have my bass boosted and EQ up some on the phone speaker. My ring tones are certianly audible.

I think the probleme ins't caused by software but yes from hardware :S...I have this probleme too....mine touch pro 2 Is much better in sounds than g2

I am just going to say it... the htc aria's call quality is horrible. Maybe I feel that way because before the aria i had a nokia phone. However if you go to settings- -call- -hearing aid. If you check th hearing aid option the call qualit is much better and you can hear people even in noisy rooms.
FYI: I recently got a check up and I have perfect hearing.
So my question is does this hearing aid use up battery life? And how do you guys think the call quality is?

I do notice that if I lower the volume a little bit I can hear an echo of myself in the mic.. Also, the volume of the music player can be better too..

Infinitely better from the terrible LG Vu I had prior to my Aria and definitely better than iPhone. I have no complaints.
the in call quality is a lot better than the other phones i've had. the volume may not be as loud, but the quality of the audio is great. i haven't had any echo/weirdness at all. i had tons of that with some of my other phones.
from what i've asked people i call, the quality on their end has improved since getting the aria as well.

In general, I have always been really happy with call quality on every HTC device I've used. I think it is probably one of their phone's best characteristics.

I had really bad echoe problems with my 3GS, I think it may be an AT&T thing. The Aria is a much better telephone imo than the 3GS in every area except speaker volume. The speaker on the Aria just isn't loud enough, but I have better signal and way fewer dropped calls than with the 3GS.
Tinny sound + Earpiece louder than Speakerphone
When talking on the Aria I get a tinny sound in the ear speaker on the phone...also people claim I am breaking up yet I hear them loud and clear.
Anyone else getting this?

No to all three off your questions

Sounds a little like a troll thread. I've had nothing but clear calls. It may not hold full bars like some of my other devices, but it sounds better than my old nokias that did and gets better battery life to boot. If you're not happy take it back.

Everyone say they have poor call quality.. But none of you give any details as to which Rom on Aria you are using..
Quality & Volume are awesome with one latest Rom's..
The only time I have noticed poor call quality is when I was using the stock rom. It was more noticeable when on a Bluetooth headset when I had the phone below the waist. I would head crackling on my Bluetooth when it was to thexpoint that if I moved the phone to chest level it would go away.
Since upgrading to cm 006 then to cm 008 I haven't had a problem. In fact I can now leave the phone in the other room while I'm on my Bluetooth without any problems.
Hope this helps.

Ive tried using volume booster apps or media players with ajustable equalizers. Im even concidering a portable headphone amp so I can use my sennheisers without them being to quiet. What would be the best way to increase the maximum volume of the phone?

The sad part is in the original 1.6 rom the headphone volume was normal to me as in it was loud like my ipod touch. When i updated to 2.2.2 its now not as loud which is dumb. i would like to be able to hook it into my car cd player and actually have volume like before. oh and i am also i am using a custom rom. streakdroid 1.9 and its is not as loud as well any one fiound a fix for this or mabey some of the devs see this and address this issue in their next build.....PLZ?
Same darn problem
Ever since 2.2, media volume via headphones especially, is too low!
I reduce volume to 0 still hearing noise sound..
My dell streak sound quality is bad. When I reduce volume to 0 still hearing noise sound (playing mp3 or video). I am using at&t 2.2. can it solve via software update? is it hardware problem?
thanks!
Did anyone find a solution to the low media volume ? Im also noticing its very low, and im on streakdroid 1.9 with the volume hack installed but even that hasnt made it loud like it should be.
I find its perfectly loud, any louder and you're going to damage our ears. what headphones are people using. I'm using the Sennheiser CX 300-II excellent headphones for how cheap they are, i do use poweramp, with slight volume increase on the preamp. But if i whack it up anymore its to loud and i get distortion in the headphones.

Yeah i find the rear speaker to be very low when playing music, running copilot and many other apps. Infact the only app i've noticed to have a loud volume with the streak is bbci player. This wasnt the case on the original stock rom (316 i believe) so its something to do with 2.2.2. Before upgrading my streak was quite loud all round.

Hmmmm. I think I am sticking with not updating to 2.2.2 at this time.

me too...
after upgrading from 2.2 to 2.2.2 I've noticed a significant decrease in ringtone, media and alarm volume, there is also a flickering noise in ear speaker during calls which is very annoying.
If there is no solution to this, I'm thinking to switch back to 2.2
I had been listening mp3 on android based HD2 with the high of %65.
Now with that dell streak I have been listening %90 or 100 and while in the middle of the city, %100 may not be loud enough.
I do not care ringtone speaker vs. The only low sound level I care is the sound level via 3.5mm wired headphone media volume. I also use minimalisting program tiny player which has no eq or visual effects.
It sounds loud enough on the headphones but when you try to plug it into any external speaker or amp like a car stereo or an xmi speaker the audio volume limiting system that they included with 2.2, the output is too low. It's a bummer that you can't turn off the avls like a lot of other devices. Dumb, I wish they'd fix it, I'd love to use it in the car but it's way too quiet.
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
Hmmm, 2.2.2 is definitely on the low side...what's the deal of such low volume - isn't the Streak a multimedia device as well? The volume is a shame - even my old phones' volumes are louder. Hope they fix this up in their next firmware. I really can't understand the idea to lower the volume - aren't there people who test the firmwares and made this remark at Dell before releasing??
guys, stop complaining and provide solutions for the ****ty sound, we all know it ain't loud enough...
Hopefully someone will provide solutions to increasing and improving sound.
Complaining about it won't make it any louder, we need a proper fix!!
Hi there guys.
First of all apologies if this post will cause any confusion or if someone has asked before.
The volume output on nexus 4 make me feel like I'm actually deaf because of its LOW VOLUME.
Is there any volume boost apps such as the ones used on GNEX?

Just flash this equalizer and turn up the equalizer settings and you will get louder sounds.

Compared to the GNex, I thought the N4 was super loud! lol
The equalizer is more of a software side fix. I think the op is referring to something that actually sets the hardware output higher similar to what the voodoo apps do. This results in a cleaner non distorted sound compared to just boosting eq levels.

The DSP manager prescribed above helped tho.

voodoo works because the inbuilt AMP can be controlled on a wolfson; other software that is universal on all hardware audio solutions like volume+ and others more than likely just adjusts gain.
the DSP manager fix is probably the best all round software based solution as it can be boosted via EQ ( not great cause it can cause clipping), gain adjustments and DRC.
software solutions are not ideal however and i would suggest an external portable amp if your headphones require a hifi level power source, but for most portable gear (Even high end) the N4 is perfectly fine.
The output of the speaker is fine but I definitely notice the volume is lower with headphones then the Gnex. I personally don't like DSP etc as it always makes things sound distorted. The NS with Voodoo was like the best ever sound I got on my headphones.

coming from a galaxy S II the N4 volume seems much lower for certain things. The in call volume is louder however things like notifications seem lower even at the highest level. Not stoked about it.

Temporary fix for Low Volume
I just received my Nexus a few days ago, and noticed the low volume.THe speakerphone is ok, but music and youtube a bit low. It's funny how the "professional" reviewers say the speaker is loud.
Anyway, I found a temporary fix for the music volume, until Google gets off their a__es and fixes the problem.Download Player Pro Trial from the Play Store.
On the effects menu, crank up the bass and volume knobs ,leave the EQ off. When you turn on the reverb button the volume bumps up a few notches. It works on headphone and speaker volume and it's a nice music player too.I think the full version is 5 bucks.
i think this paid $1 app works, even on franco kernel to increase speaker volume, in my bathroom, music is pretty loud!
its made for faux kernels

I like this app better, It works with a large number of kernels.. even stock
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=aperture.ezekeel.experiencepro
Its been working well for me, also has the added ability to touchwake, for those times when the screen times out.
edit: It will boost speaker and headphones volume. You can also adjust mic gain and a number of other cool shizz. Seriously Check it out

The nexus louder audio mod shown in that thread doesn't work. It just adds an app and changes some equaliser settings and generally makes the sound quality a lot worse.
What we need is something at kernel level to simply increase the volume of the phone like they did on the sgs3.
I wish kernel and ROM Devs would focus on this issue a.little bit because speed and battery life and other placebos aren't the only things people care about. The audio on this phone is Far far too quiet although it is good quality.

I feel that the audio coming out on the N4 is much quieter than on any of my previous devices. If you have an N7, you can test this out by setting both devices to the loudest volume setting, setting them to play the same song, and then play the first song while plugged in to your car, then unplug the first device and plug in the second device and play the same song. I have to crank up my car volume double do get the same sound quality. Its really annoying. Is there a fix somewhere that just lets you boost the volume like changing something in the system? I like the native equalizer fine, but the sound is so quiet when plugged into a headphone jack!!
Hello, I'm trying to decide between HTC One and LG G2, headphone audio quality is the factor what I take into consideration in my final decision, what is your experience with the headphone audio of LG G2?... what about of voice call quality?... does it have the problem about low volume?
Thanks!

Audio quality on the g2 is of a warm v-shaped curve. I dont know if there is eq on the phone already but the bass id definitely more full sounding than the s3 (i know you're talking about the one). Treble is brighter than the s3.
Voice quality is very good. Volume for me is ok. Just like the s3. I have very good hearing, so there might be a little bias.

I currently have the Galaxy S2 and for phone calls the volume is really low, playing music it's ok (much louder), the problem with all Samsung phones are you cannot find a compatible headphone and the one that comes with the phone is the worst quality I ever seen, so I wont buy anymore Samsung.
I use my phone to hear music when I do sports, for that is very important for me the quality of the sound of the headphones, and of course the loudness of the voice when it is on call.

don't forget it all depends on the headphone's you get. Bass heavy, neutral, warm and so on. I would never use stock headphones. Get something from vsonic, brainwavs, headroom, beyer blah blah blah.
OMG, I just tried listening to some Lindsey Stirling with a good pair of earphones (Klipsch). It sounds REALLY good. Good bass and the strings of the violin just pops. (Music is trance with violin) Volume is good, I had it at 60% and it's plenty loud.

That is the problem with Samsung, at least here in Mexico is very difficult to find a good headphone that works with my phone, I dont know if its the high impedance the S2 has or I dont know, this is a general problem of Galaxy series.
For the other side, in the S2 the volumen of mp3 is excelent, but the volume when you are in a call is terrible, in a very loud ambient is difficult to hear the other party and I dont have problems in my ears hehe...
Personally, I've found that the LG G2 through my Fiio amplifier and into my car sound system is easily the best sounding audio I have had out of box from an Android mobile phone ever. And I've owned pretty much every single one over the last 4 years. I am not an audiophile though, so take that with a grain of salt.
I got a chance to listen to mine a little while this afternoon. I think it is very good. In the next week or so, I will try a head to head vs GS3/Wolfson and see how they compare. It strikes me a a little bit warmer. HIghs may not be quite as transparent (w/ RE0s), but at the same time more natural. It is louder out of the box than I9300. I have not tweaked the hardware output levels so far, so don't know how far it can go. (The GS3 has a ton more power than they enable at the factory.) I could stand a little more volume with REOs (and they require some bass boost), but it is very close not changing anything. I expect must people with most headphones would have plenty of power. I've not tried with an amp, but I will.
I liked both Neutron and PowerAmp way better than the LG music player. I didn't try Google Play.
Just root the phone and then install viper4android mod. You won't be sorry. Best android mod out there and compatible with almost all rooted phones
