note 3 : Knox warranty void + efs break. A solution ?[ - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
I contact the sav. They check my phone and detect that knox warranty was void and rooted.
So no warranty, i ve to pay about 100€ to repair !!!
The problem is that my efs partition is break, ive no Imei on my phone.
Do you know if there is a solution to restore my efs without to ask to the sav ?
I précise that i ve only access to my phone in Odin. Not detected under Windows. No boot possible.
I ve made a backup of my efs by twrp but dont know if possible to use it. Restore by twrp dont worked.
Thanks

Your english is horrible. How did u lose imei? You should've backed up the efs as soon as you rooted.

Is there really any need for that? I understand perfectly well what he's asking, he's not trying for a Pulitzer prize here; just asking for some help on a forum.

Sorry, I think you'd be best paying for the repair. There is currently no way to regenerate EFS.

I think this is not applicable in this case.
The maker is only responsible for things that are his fault.
AFAIK the maker can not be held liable for something the user broke himself.
If you drop your phone and the screen breaks, then there is no obligation for the maker to fix it for free under warranty.
In the same way, if you overwrite the bootloader or EFS by accident and bricked your phone, then it is your own fault.
Another case would be, if the home button just fell off. In that case it clearly has nothing to do with the software modification and so the maker can not refuse warranty on be basis that the software has been modified.

I had a case on my Note 10.1 N8000 where the partition efs was deleted, yes the partition, not the contentes and I arrived to solve my N8000.
See here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2204960 on post #4.
But look, this command and efs partition can be different or impossible on Note 3. Speak whit a Note 3 DEV. first.
mke2fs /dev/block/mmcblk0p3
PS: On Note 3 the efs partition is mmcblk0p11.
Good luck

Any way ... I agree whit You.

Oh well. This sort of thing is always a risk when rooting. You lost out this time.
You might be able to get it done cheaper if you find a mobile phone store with an octopus box but then maybe this phone is too new to be supported by that option.

Why does this happen?? I mean does the /efs partition get unmounted?? Or something else??
If it gets only unmounted, can t we mount it back using terminal or something??
Or is ODIN the only way by which we can remount it??

Press them that it is not your fault. It happened due to your official upgrade. New IMEI does not costs more than 50 rs. Ask them there names and tell them that u will go to consumer forum against them as they are trying to cheat u. Write few mails to samsung support telling your fabricated story and response of service center. Threaten them about court case if they refuse to help.
please help,i have a phone now that doesn't show imei at all and, doesn't recognize sim card...what did i do wrong???how to fix it?
Search in the xda g3 section, there was somewhere a thread about this.
i searched for two days....nothing...
There is an efs.7z attached file in imei backup thread. It mày help you
yeah found that to,copyed with odin, still nothing...
I Had also lost my EMEI.
Just went to the samsung center and behaved as if i knew nothing.
Just told that the phone is not catching the network.
They themselfs identified that the IMEI was lost and they will have to re-write the IMEI (which is written at the back of the cell).. they kept the cell for a day and fixed it with the same old IMEI.
Since the mobile was still in warranty i paid nothing.
i took it also to a repair center, but mine is not under warranty...i will have to pay 30-50 euros now......

@Srinivas - Just to make u feel better...don't take it as a serious matter though i don't know if it's rectifiable but why do u need an IMEI for..
I mean seriously it won't even come in use even if u lost ur phone(It's India)..sadly it's true !!!
As far as selling it in the future is concerned...i guess no vendor will hav any problem here (might suffer by 100-200 bucks) but thats it !!

[Q] APX Interface. Any Success ?

Hello, just wondering if you had any success in recovering a fully bricked Nexus 7 with only the APX interface available.
It's not impossible, but a backup is needed from the same device. More info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2455927

Try to send it to Asus/Google. Without the proper backup, you can't do much.

Do you thing it's ok for RMA to be raised for software issues due to user's activity ?
In case it is not covered, how much is it gonna cost to get it back ?
If its not covered then you should get it back for free in the same condition or you can pay Asus to fix it not sure how much they would charge.

Its the EFS issue. I've faced (still facing) the same problem. I'd say visit the samsung service center. You can also look into asansam box like its being suggested here. Some service center around you will probably have it already. If anything works for you, let me know.

Does your brother still have his IMEI? if it is still there he must first backup efs, fsc, and fsg then flash back to stock. That fixed it for me.
So I took it to a mobile repairing center ( not Samsung company ) he told me he have to use a super emi number for the device . he will try using this and then he will call me back . it will cost something like 15$

Let me know if it works. I've had to do the same. Gave it to a 3rd party service center that had an SPB/Asansam Box. The only doubt the guy there had was whether 4.4.2 on N9005 is serviceable with Super IMEI. Lets hope it works out. Else I'd try Mirek's method of rebuilding the EFS with original IMEI.
ok here is the thing
Samsung Repairing center informed that the device is out of warranty and it can only be repaired by changing the main board which should cost something around 300$
, we tried our luck with a third party repairing center who fixed the original main board on the device , in a hard ware modding way that costed my brother 70$
I just don't know how he repaired it , but at least this phone is working back again

[Q] IMEI changed to 004999010640000

Hey.
I recently flashed a ROM on my phone and I found the rom is full of lags and problems so I decided to back to my ROM
I made full wipe
When I rebooted the device I realised that the phone had no signal. I found way to fix it. just to restore my etc
Upon a reboot I discovered that the IMEI had changed to 004999010640000 and the phone can only make emergency calls.
I have checked many threads regarding the changed IMEI. But I didn't know what to do after all
Does anyone have any ideas to restore the IMEI?
Thank you.

damm... plz don't tell me the phone is dead for ever..
my sister was in mall today and she ask man who work at phones and fix them about my problem
and he say he "Maybe" can fix it for $27 on his lab
what should I do? :crying::crying:
I think that you have 2 options:
1. Is necessary to find efs backup (efs.img) from similar phone and to restore it in your phone. Too qcn file from similar phone will be necessary to you. Then you need to write your IMEI into this qcn file and after that to load this qcn the file into your phone. It will return your IMEI and communication, but you will have someone else's serial number in your phone.
2. Phone repair in official service
You see EFS is unique to each handset, lose it & only Samsung can restore it. I'm almost certain that guy will fail.
Anyway since you got nothing to lose flash pit files circulating around for your model/version & see it will work.
i hate to say this but you're in deep **** my friend
i just hope you have a full image recovery backup or a valid warranty from samsung.
i experienced that before from my s2 and i didnt recovered my IMEI so i sent it to a cellphone technician. he managed to fix it tho so i m thankful
try to go to your nearest trusted cellphone shop and ask there if they have anything to flash it.

0049 is a Test IMEI.
Your best bet is to head for a Samsung Service Center, preferably with the original box. (and the receipt if you've got one) They've got hardware that can re-insert your IMEI quickly enough.
