Note 3 scuffs on the bezel - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys. I am new on this forum. I got my note 3 a few days ago. Did anyone else notice little points on some places on the bezel? Came like this out of the box. I returned it to the store and got a new one but the finishing of the bezel was much more worse then the previous one. Its a shame that for a phone this expensive it has poorly finishing. Also will a click on flipcase damage the bezel even more if you take the phone out from time to time? Oh well its a phone and for usage...
Thanks for the feedback.

My Note 3 also had a scuff, but just a minor one.
Bothers me now since I noticed it!!

I see a tiny scratch on my bezel too - and i've had a case on it since day one.

seems the bezel is easy to get damaged! a friend of mine droped his phone about 20cm on the (very fine grained and paint-sealed factory concrete) floor, and the bezel has 2 about 2mm big places where the chrome-like layer chopped off. looks horrible... :crying:

I never dropped my phone.

What's the color of the plastic underneath the bezel metallic paint layer ? Black ?

Mine isn't that deep or big to notice all of that.

guys please send pic....

can't see mine good enough to take a pic

Mines horrible. Got plenty of scuffs on the top edge showing the black colour underneath. Never dropped it, never lay it flat - not sure why its rubbing off already!
Anyone had any luck fixing these? Bezel replacement, painting chrome etc?

Maybe it's better to remove all the paint?

Guys please send pics

Mine are minor on different places and taking a picture won't show it well. I asked in a local phone store how to repair it, only way is display replacement since its attached with your display the bezel...

I know this is an old thread, but I just got my note 3 with some very minor skuffs on the top right of the bezel. You can not feel them with your finger, and you have to be in very bright light to see them. I looked at a friend of mines also, and it had the same skuffs on the exact same place. I guess this happens in production.

I had two from the time my cat thought my Note 3 would make an excellent toy and threw it off the table (I bought an Otterbox after that).
Fixed it with grey metalic nailpolish. Also lackered the entire bezel with blanc polish to prevent the rest of the bezel wearing off. Cost me a total of about 10 quid. Quick, simple and no need to replace anything.
Soemtimes you have to think a bit more like a woman We do this with fake silver rings, too.

Battle Scars *OUCH*

So I'm trying hard to keep my phone from getting even one scratch until my cases come in, which should be any day now.....
....then today I freakin' drop it on the concrete by accident.
I feel like $#!t ...my heart sank.... damn it!!!
BUT, on the bright side I am very surprised on how well it took the hit. The phone dropped and actually rolled a couple of times, yet it only marked up the plastic/metal looking trim that goes around the phone.
By any chance do you think the rim piece would be available later for a replacement part? Gosh I sure hope so. I'm desperate to go rip off the trim at the T-Mobile store
...I keep telling myself....it could have been worse right?
Bottom line: For how hard it hit the concrete, I'm impressed...since it was dark I was thinking it was going to be way worse, until I held it to the light to see the damage. Thank goodness for not a cracked screen....
BTW: I have the 3M screen protector. If it wasn't for that it would have for sure had some mean scratches on the screen....sigh..
Ouch.. I did the same with my new Touch Pro (current phone) and it also ended up with some dings on the sides, but that phone's partially metal with a plastic screen.
Since one of the frequent criticisms of this series of phones is the build quality, glad it looks like the Vibrant's made pretty well after all if it can survive that with only cosmetic damage.
you should put a warning in the title, those pics are way to graphic.

Yea I agree that the Vibrant is well made. I've read a lot of some people commenting on the material and all, but obviously they have no idea how well the made it is. Heck, I'm kind of glad it wasn't heavy and bulky.....

Kudos Vibrant....just can't wait to put a case on it to mask the scars....Soldier.

I dropped mine on the sidewalk few days ago and it just scratched up the top of the back lid so I just swapped it. My heart stopped for 2 minutes and I was afraid to look at my screen because when I dropped my hd2 it shattered the screen

Does the 3m screen protector reduce the quality of the SAMOLED screen a lot, or make it sticky?

dam that hurt me. i just got mine last night, hope i dont do the same
A gel skin would cover those up nicely. I decided to get one in the first place because even though I love the feeling of this phone without the skin on, I hate scratches/dents a lot more.
I had a bad track record with my G1 too... dropped it like 4 times
You should link me to where you bought your screen protector. I got Tmobile generic ones, but they suck, so I bought one from eBay. What I've got was this super thick, weird feeling protector, leaves too many bubbles, sucked. Bought another one, which is identical to ones you buy at the store, works good, but doesn't cover the bottom part of the phone.

Don't be too sad. I got a screen scratch the other day. Of course its real tiny and when I point it out to others, they can't even see it. But its all I see.

The best one IMO is the one from clearfreak, which is the one I have. Just make sure when applying it, to follow their directions. You have to spray it with water, wet your fingers and squeegee the water out with the little tool it comes with.
It's made out of 3M and you can't even tell it's on. All the other screen protectors like the generic ones really mess up the touch response. It's not as responsive from what I've noticed. Stay away from chEapBAY if you know what I mean...those are all pieces of junk from china, hence 5x protectors for $0.99US

Same one I have and I love it....the 3M stuff is awesome, thank goodness if it wasn't for it I would have definitely have scratches from the fall.
You should write them and ask to exchange your screen protector. I actually got mine swapped out because I had some annoying lint on the sides and couldn't get it out so they swapped it.

Very interesting you asked that because I was curious at first as well. However, I must say that once I did put it on, it didn't alter the quality at all.
As for it being sticky, I assume you mean on the surface when you glide your fingers across it right? Well...it depends if your hands are dry or not....it really doesn't bother me and I think it works fine...the only time it may be a little resistant is when your hands are sweaty. I think that would go for most all screen protectors though...

Is the S 4 too weak?

I just pulled the S4 out of my trouser pocket (front) and the screen has been broken. :crying:
It did not drop or so but I went some kilometers in the car and it got some tension in the pocket Apparently the plastic chassis is rather soft and could not save the screen enough.

Here you are. You can see the crack only when you look very closely. Don't know how to photograph this. When the screen is off you don't see nothing.
Id say it is a bit weak, Ive cracked my front glass (digitiser is fine) between the home button across the menu touch to the side. Ok I dropped it from 4 feet onto concrete but I dropped my S2 about a hundred times before the screen gave. It (S4) is still fully functioning so doesn't bother me, It was the second drop- the first just dented and chipped the chrome effect plastic surround bezel that really should be made of titanium on this phone as its so light and fragile.
I wont swap it on insurance exchange until I break it proper and it is unusable, Orange UK are very good with insurance, £25 admin fee and courier swap the next day.
Ive only had it 2 weeks !

You should be more careful with your devices. You seem to drop them a lot. In less than two weeks you dropped your S4 two times. Something is definetly wrong with you. Put on a soft case at least.

Buy rigid screen covering cases, pockets aren't safe they're either tight and exert pressure or they're loose and bang about, the phone is worth a lot of money and deserves protecting.

That's a cracked amoled and not the glass, which explains why you can't see anything with the screen off.
If you've ever seen an s3 / s4 amoled you'd know exactly how thin and fragile they are. Best way to explain it is like an egg shell. It breaks to bits when any pressure is exerted on it.
So it seems that pressure from your trousers has flexed the body and cracked the inner amoled screen.

Thank you for your reply. It might be that there were some keys in my pocket when I had to carry some heavy stuff around.
Now I learned how fragile it is the hard way. I just hate those flip cover cases but it is "highly recommended" apparently.
I purchased the unit two weeks ago. I will see how nice the return policy is.
Your not alone Tricki There are at least 3 other threads with the same reports of the S4 breaking in pockets!
Mine broke in my pocket also!
To all these people saying there must be more to this story, mine was taken out of my car mount, put in my front right empty pocket (screen towards leg) after I got out of my car, I walked into my house took the phone back out of my pocket to discover the LCD had cracked! No physical damage anywhere on the outside of the phone, digitiser completely fine! Phone has never been dropped and hasn't been knocked on anything! Every other phone I have ever owned well over a dozen, over even more years has survived being carried like this!
To say the Amoled is very thin and fragile in the S4 is an understatement!
This is not new. Happend to the Galaxy S3 as well: https://community.verizonwireless.com/thread/777720?start=0&tstart=0

Actually, your report made me think about amoled displays. If they have this type of weakness, it makes them really fragile compared to LCD displays.
Also, my tip was meant to be general. I sometimes forget my phone on the pocket but I usually tend to take it out before sitting. Your report makes me think about this even more.
I wonder if this happens on other non-oled devices.
And one more thing, just because your pocket is on the front does not mean that a phone does not slide to the side.
Never heard of problems like this from the S2. I used to have one. I never took special care about it. It just worked fine and survived some drops.
I think a phone should survive some stress. Perhaps it is just the combination of size and plastic chassis.with the Galaxis which followed the S2.

Tiny bubble under screen

Good Day
My gf's white I9500 has a tiny bubble (or what seems like one) under the screen of her phone.
It is not showing on the pictures I take so I will try my best to explain it to you.
The phone was purchased on Saturday 14th September and she noticed it on Tuesday evening. There is NO screen protector on the phone.
So it's located towards the top and slightly left hand side of the phone screen.
It's quite small probably 1-2mm
When I press it, it seems to disappear but reappears shortly. When I blow on to the screen to create steam as if I am going to clean it, everywhere around the bubble streams up except the actual bubble. When I run my nail across the screen I feel maybe a slight bump.
In my opinion I feel the last coat on the glass was a thin film which was not put on properly due to dust or an air pocket.
Has anybody seen this or have an idea of what it is and what has caused it?
Samsung should clearly cover it because it seems like a defect

Take it back from where she bought it and ask for replacement. They will check it and if is a manufacturing defect (which 100% is), she will get a new one.
Ask for replacement if that tiny bubble really bothers her.

I noticed the same issue about one week after I bought my phone.
But on my device, the bubbles appear and disappear without a trace. I couldn't establish a pattern or a reason. See the attached picture.
those seem on surface of the screen so maybe the screen protector causes them ... especially if they aren't permanently there ...

I forgot to say I removed the screen protector and the bubbles are still there, unchanged. It's something wrong with the samsung amoled + gorilla glass combo.
Today is expanded, see the picture
LE: later it went away, slowly. This time it responded to pressing on the glass of the screen, the more I pressed, the more it dissipated away slowly.
It's like the glass hasn't been applied properly from the factory. But why is it appearing randomly? Why do the air bubbles come back?

Get Samsung to repair it. They come and go most likely cause of pressure? Most of the time I guess this bubbles appear is cause the loca is being spread away but when pressure is pressed against it the bubbles go away? I'm not sure but just warranty service it and get it over with.

Can Graphite 6P's users reassure me (or not) ?

Hi !
I can read on internet that some users saw there graphite 6P's paint coming off despite they used it carefully (they said). That'll be cool if some of you guys can reassure me (or not) about it ...
I plan to put a case on it, but sometimes when i'm home for example, i'd like to use the 6P naked to feel the metal body. But if it's too risky i won't, because i see some users said that after 3 days of use, the paint was coming off ! 3 days wtf !!!
So if you could help me about that, it will be very nice

Well to be honest it was carelessness on my end. I had it on my lap while I was in my car and upon exiting it fell off and did a few cartwheels. All while naked. Surprisingly enough, only the corner was *SLIGHTLY* chipped. Even though it's beauty was marred, I was pleasantly surprised by the the durability. I'm 6'3 so it was by no means a short drop. After that I got a case though. I do plan on using it naked every so often just to show off my Dbrand skin. But if you are going to be out and about and constantly taking it in and out of your pocket, a case is definitely the way of go.
Had mine for a month or so with no case and just use it as normal. Still looks like new both metal case and screen. No issues whatsoverer.
Common sense says don't put it in a pocket with keys or coins etc in it, or in the back pocket due to its size.

It's all a matter of opinion and care for the device. I love the look of the graphite, and have never used a case on any phone. Received my phone on 10/28 and have zero marks or dings or peeling that others have reported. I don't baby the device by any means, but I do set it on a stack of paper or notepad when it's on my desk at work. That is more for quietness than protection, though.

Had mine for more than a month.
Sometimes in a case, sometimes not.
Paint on mine is fine.
It's true! But only some (3) tiny spots like dust that you can see on an angle (OCD here?) but it's true....especially on the edges.
Tapatalked with my Nexus 6P
The paint chipped off on my first (RMA'd) Graphite - upon putting the Huawei provided case. The second Graphite (mfg 11/11) doesn't have any issues, even after using it case-less for a week. Now it is safe inside a Ringke case. I do take out the phone out of the case every day once to clean up dirt and dust.
Had mine for a month. Still perfect.

I've had mine for about 2 months now, it hasn't shown any signs of wear yet but I keep mine in a case.
Just get the phone color you like and be done with it, don't let people sway you away from the graphite with silly things like "it will peel fast". Same could be said about white getting dirty quick or silver showing scratches.
It's crazy how people obsess over such trivial things but to each his own.

I am losing the original glass protector? What should I do?

Hello, my original screen protector is coming off
What do you suggest should I do? Samsung does not change it, does it?
I read the glass screen protectors on the market are not so goods, too may problems with fingerprints and so on..
Well just buy a new one from amazon... I. Just order a 2 pack spigen pack 7.99 on amazon... This one has light scratches and the spigen on my note 9 is brilliant...
On the finger print side can't say as haven't put it but will tomorrow. People on the reviews say it works fine so...
Samsung does not replace it but they offer a similar version to the OEM that came on the phone. I remember seeing a lot of talk about them being $29.xx for a three pack. That seemed kind of high to me when for not much more you could do the Dome Glass. There have been mixed reviews of the Dome Glass. The most common complaint seems to be that it is difficult to install. It looks simple and straight forward, watching the videos on YouTube, but in the real world things are never perfect. There is one video on YouTube, 14 screen protectors for the S10+, or something like that and the vlogger puts on, tests and talks about all 14 different screen protectors. If you don't want to watch the whole video, it kind of long, he lists his recommendations in order from the best to the worst in the video notes. Over at Android Central I posted a question about this, https://forums.androidcentral.com/s...dome-glass-stock-something-else-new-post.html, and was surprised how many people are going without anything. I keep watching the front camera area for scratches and have just about convinced myself to go naked too. Mine isn't lifting up but it is pretty scratched up with a few deep enough to feel.
Just use it without the film. The sensivity in fingerprint sensor is amazing!
I am using this one from amazon and found it really good.

I saw that some protector are above the camera, others not. I read that it is not good for the lens to have a film over.. Am I right?
Screen protectors don't provide drop protection for phones with edge to edge displays and minimal bezels because the vast majority of the time a phone gets dropped on one of its sides rather than the area the screen protector is covering.
But people who walk around with their phone in their pocket or in a bag will scratch up their displays if they don't use a screen protector. The display doesn't ever have to come into contact with anything as obvious as coins or keys to get scratched--particles of sandlike grit that turn up inside a pocket will scratch a smartphone screen.
Whether or not you need a screen protector pretty much depends on how you carry your phone but people who think they are purchasing drop protection often end up disappointed.

Thanks for taking the time taking pics, their film has too much orange peel for my liking.

Well I thought that was bad as soon I put it but after a few hrs the marks do go away and its nice... Well the protection vs the original is better to be fair
Also worth mentioning that the blue light filter is on the the pics and is almost all the way up... So maybe why looks orange.
