Anybody think Verizon will be kind enough to include a pair of Sammy headphones with our Note 3's? Unlike the empty spot in our Note 2 boxes, I would appreciate a new pair with the in line mic, like the other carriers get.
I know a lot of people have aftermarket ear buds etc. But personally I've been using the pair I got 2 years ago with the Galaxy Nexus. Honestly they've performed as well as any aftermarket headphones I've owned for listening to music. And they're especially convenient while driving (no blue tooth in my truck).
Anyway I was more than disappointed they weren't included with the Note 2. Looks like Sprint got them but ATT didn't. Anybody expecting them to be included? Or know yes or no if we'll get them?

According to the Q&A section on the Verizon page for the Note 3, it will:
http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/...-note-3-white?checkedId=oneOrTwoYearPrice7193
Click Q&A, search for "headphones" and you'll see a question about it. A Samsung rep replied saying:
Hi Joey. Thanks so much for reaching out. Yes, headphones will be included upon purchase of the Note 3.
Please let us know if you have any additional questions. We're here and happy to help.
Thank you,

Here's hoping you're right. Kinda feel like we get ripped off when other carriers and other phones have them. Then VzW finds another way to shaft us, so they have a better chance at making a sale on beats...my opinion anyway.

I'm not an audio engineer or anything.
My friends brother owns Aurisonics and he got me a pair of the ASG-1s which sound awesome i usually rotate between those and Bose QC15s when i travel.
The headphones that come with phones and ipods sucks and sounds crappy once you hear a good set.
Any pair of customs with 2+ drivers will blow your mind. They offer full isolation because of the custom fit. I regularly use mine as earplugs when I go shooting, to loud events, or when I simply don't want to listen to someone. (the cord is detachable). Another musician friend has a pair of 1964ears triple driver model. They're a lot more affordable and he says they sound fantastic. Nothing on the market offers the clarity and dynamic range of my 18s due to the 6 drivers per ear, but the price is drastically higher. If you have a few hundred dollars to blow sometime and music is important to you, iI recommend trying out a triple driver custom. You won't be disappointed.

If you have a set of custom IEMs with a removable cable, UE makes a cable with an online microphone and volume control for iPhone. To use on anything non android, simply swap the left and right cables.
*edit* anyone with multi-driver headphones, check the impedance of the drivers together before using them with a headphone device at full gain. Most of them are wired to drop the impedance giving more wattage out of the amp. For anything with 2 or less drivers per channel, that won't be an issue, but anything 3+ drivers, it can easily burn the amp chip out on a phone. With mine, half volume is usually so loud that it causes tinnitus, so it's not an issue for me. (with great in-ear monitors comes great responsibility.) take care of your hearing, because once it's gone, you will not ever get it back.

amen to that. I have a pair of Sure ear buds and everyone thinks I was crazy for spending $300 on headphones...when you put them in and they tune out everything else, even with no music on, they are worth every dollar. I wear mine to shoot as well. Plus sound quality is way better. Glad to see someone else be jammin too. :good:
Oh recently i have been doing a lot of travel for work..I have a huge pet peeve listing to people talk about their daily bs on an airplane, being able to not hear any people is a HUGE benefit.
Shure E2/E3s aren't custom, however. There's still a monstrous difference between pro-grade universals and customs, but the shure E2s/E3s are a good example of pro-grade multi-driver IEMs.

This is true they are not custom fit but they do a great job of noise cancellation at a fraction of the ones you posted. I just don't like big bulky headphones. Shures are not top of the line but they sure do beat the $1 headphones I see all the ifone idiots walking around wearing thinking they sound great because apple makes em. I have the bose noise canceling one but find myself only wearing around the house size they are PITA to take with you

...or you would never be able to go back to "normal" smartphones!!!!
Seriously now: I am old enough to remember a world without cell phones so I have seen them appear, take hold and change our life. I have been an user almost from the beginning.
My cell phone "history" is: Motorola can't-remember-its-name, Ericsson T-10s, Ericsson T39m, Sony-Ericsson P800, HP iPaq rw6815, Samsung Omnia i9000, Samsung Galaxy S i9000, Samsung Galaxy SII, Samsung Galaxy Note.
I have never bought any one of them for any other reason than I thought them to be the overall best of their time, I am a very heavy poweruser, I DO use the FULL spectrum of the capabilities of these smartphones.
The Note? It's the smartphone I have always wanted, the one I was forever waiting for, the one I would have designed for myself.
I realize it's a niche phone but I do hope its is a niche that's gonna take hold and stay because I can't see myself EVER going back to "normal" smartphones.
Yes, I am that happy with the Note.
I will add to the thread as I keep on using it, meanwhile feel free to ask anything.
Some other background infos so you know where I am coming from: besides the ones listed above I have seen/tested many many other ones from friends/relatives/stores between and before purchases. I have also some background in IT.
I am from Italy and bought the phone from Germany.

Some people are going deaf and they are blaming the Note. No offence meant
I can't agree more man..
This phone is frigging perfect.. When i had the galaxy s2 the ONLY thing that was laking was screen size..
When i saw the note announced basicaly a galaxy s2 with a 5.3inch super omled screen.. It was a no brainer...

Yes, there is so much I simply love about the phone.
Apart from the size I seriously did not think the Note could topple my SGSII.
I purchased the Note part being inquisitive and part because I love to have the latest tech.
Having now tried the Note for the past few days it just gets better and better.
Obviously size is it's biggest draw but I was pleasantly surprised at just how good the Camera is.
I love the Camera on my SGSII but the Note's Camera knocks the spots off of it, which is weird as both the SGSII & Note share the same Lens.
Just goes to show what happens when you have different software to drive the hardware.
Next up we have what I would consider as a 'major' improvement on GPS.
Again the SGSII is no slouch at getting a fix and maintaining your position but the Note just blows the SGSII out of the water.
Okay, this is helped by the fact it uses both the American and now Russian satellites and now we also have a barometer to aid in keeping the accuracy down to a pinpoint.
I'm looking forward to when the Developers Kit for the Barometer gets handed out in December. We should then start to see some Apps that utilize the Barometer to full use.
Nice one Samsung.... The Boy did good.
Totally agree! Best smartphone ever! Got it yesterday from CU.
+1!!!

Would really be interesting in hearing a comparison to the Dell Streak. I bought the Dell Streak 5 from someone selling their Give-Away phone and eventually bought the UNLOCKED to T-Mobile (with 3G) and was never happy with the Streak. I didn't mind the size at all. In fact I bought the Mugen Extended battery and that somehow felt better in my hand than without the battery. (Girl Hand) what I didn't like was the DELL .. Maybe what I didn't like about the Dell will be what I don't like about the Note .. PHONE CALLS. Not it being to big, but getting to the dialer to hang up always gave me fits .. It isn't easy to use like the iPhone. I like the iPhone for calls and the other for everything else. Always struggled with phone calls on the Dell Streak. I will carry both with me .. my iPhone and my Note. If I am just running out to the store I will bring my iPhone .. I use Google Voice I think it is called, it rings all my phones when I have a call. I wish it worked for texting also. (ramble-ramble)
I have my alarm on my note set to I'm sexy and I know by LMFAO and its so fitting.

Have you tried calling with a headset? That seems to be where the reports of sound quality are coming from. Would love some confirmation of this...
Hi everyone,
Thought I would post about an Android issue that is bugging me - the fact that despite USB Host functionality being present in ICS, USB DACs (digital audio converters, external sound cards if you will) do not work with our devices .
If they did work then we could use relatively cheap USB DACs with our Android phones and enjoy great music sound quality, no matter which cheap DAC/DSP the manufacturer has seen fit to include. Ever since I sold my Galaxy S, which has an excellent Wolfson DAC and can produce awesome sound quality with Voodoo Sound, the sound quality of my subsequent devices has rankled. Now with ICS this is a simple software fix, which makes it all the more irritating (someone has managed to add support for these in a Nook Colour kernel that works with CM9). To be honest I'm seriously considering buying an iPhone for the first time ever because they have this functionality out of the box.
Fortunately there is something we can do about this besides making ineffectual unhappy noises and waiting for customs ROMs etc to fix this - vote the issue up here: http://code.google.com/p/android/is...rs&colspec=ID Type Status Owner Summary Stars
To vote just star the issue.
This issue needs 1200 votes to enter the top ten, which doesn't seem a big ask given the hundreds of millions of Android users out there...
Please star this and share this out to your social networks - help save me from having to continue think about getting an iPhone!
Quick heads up to everyone here know that since I posted this the issue has had 56 votes and lifted 12 places in the issues ladder. Thanks to everyone who has voted - lets keep going!

Absolutely, I have an Fiio E17 coming to me soon, would love to use it with my LCD-2's and Sennheiser HD25-1's.
If we can get enough engagement we can actually get this issue sorted, so I hope folks get behind this.
I guess google can't do much here, as the kernels were compiled from the hardware providers, which in our case is samsung!

Well, if ICS fixes this, they'll toss this issue onto the pile and forget about it. No, it won't motivate them to rush ICS any more than the usual 8 month cycles they displayed with 2.2 to 2.3.
So, I put in my 2c with the poll because it indeed has merit, but to what avail? Cell companies (and the manufacturers) do what they want, when they want, how they want, why they want, and give the issue to whomever they want with whatever schedule they want. Then pay themselves a $500k bonus, and throw an hellacious party over the matter to boot.
Guys, as ugly as it may seem, let's get real. Android bug fixes, LTE fee structures, and the proverbial 24 month contracts are here to stay.
Other than our whining, they will never be officially challenged on the matter, it will never get into the legal system, and you'll never have any say about it either (other than some pretty colorful fits I've seen out here - including mine). Anytime these issues heat up and someone forces their hands to provide an equitable service for their fees, cell companies do what they've done for over 25 years - run to Washington with a briefcase full of cash and that's that.
Tough, I know, but it's still just tough. That's all we've got, and we've got to live with it for now. Frankly, I would have hoped competition would have worked it's wonders over such matters, but anytime Washington is involved all bets are off

Quick update: since posting this the issue has had 300+ new stars and risen something like 60 places up the ladder. Thanks all for getting behind this one, hopefully it will get assigned for review soon - until then all new votes help!
I've added my vote.
I've asked this question before but had no responses, but does anybody know:
Is it possible to use an MHL to HDMI adaptor, and then attach a device that splits out the digital audio - such as http://www.climaxdigital.co.uk/1080P-13b-HDMI-Audio-Splitter - and then feed a DAC with the output from that?
Cheers, Gord
I gave it a star, but we don't need google to make kernel changes...

A few people have asked about the MHL thing, I have no idea. Doesn't really work as a solution to my way of thinking - MHL cable + power source + splitter + USB DAC isn't exactly portable (and if I'm at home I'll just use the USB DAC with my computer). Would be interested to know if it works though in any case.

I just saw this phone in the flesh for the first time. I played with it in the store (in Yurakucho, Japan).
Very nice indeed! I can't wait to get it now. The release date hasn't been announced in Japan, although it will be sometime this month (November).
I was surprised that it comes with an antenna, for watching TV (and hopefully radio). The antenna comes out of the top right corner. I haven't seen this antenna in the many Galaxy Note 2 videos that I've watched on YouTube.
Anyway, as sad as it seems, I'm totally excited to get it. I'm not too impressed with the Samsung flip over style case, so I'll look to try a few others out and see what's about.
I was very excited before, but after spending half an hour with it, I've fallen in love! :good:

The cable companies would have a **** fit if phones were being released in the US with antennas on them!
The people in Korea and Japan have much higher standards and expectations when it comes to electronics, since the tech development is much faster there. There are tons of cool phones released over there that are exclusive to those countries.
Some phones there have more RAM than their EU/US counterparts, some have 64GB storage, some have TV-antennas. I think people there are much more picky and demanding when they shop tech, because they're far ahead of the rest of the world in that department.

They really up to date on tech spec..they even dont believe any info about tech from others country..they only believe their own country..its a little trouble some when working with them here..but, i get use to it..haha..respect their high tech knowledge though

Yeah. The Japanese are very dedicated and serious when it comes to work and business.
When I get the phone, no doubt I'll take some photos of the antenna and the rest of the device, for my site (and fans).

I was surprised that it comes with an antenna, for watching TV (and hopefully radio). The antenna comes out of the top right corner.
Forgive my excitement.

Not surprised...South Korea was the first country to use DMB services.

Just because....I had read thru this thread and yes I agree, I spent 6 yrs in Japan, with travels to Korea.
"Domo arigatou gozaimasu!"
Without realizing that Ludicmike has demonstrated this, (even though I thanked him for the post) I was inspired to go ahead and make my very first YouTube vid.
It's not a great video, but you can see the antenna again.
I'll try to limit the fumbling around and rambling in any future videos.
Samsung GALAXY Note 2 (Antenna on Japanese version)
Feel free in the YouTube comments to give me any advice. It's a big step for an old camera shy dude like me.
Hi there guys,
as in title allready asked "From wich Phone you will jump to OnePlus One and why ?"
I will sell my Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE+ I9506 with Snapdragon 800 cause there is no Development an no CM10/11 support for it!
As the nature of a technique freak is that mostly tune/modify and want it adjust more personal likes and featurs...
In my opinion a phone who dont got CM support is a dead phone cause mostly if there is no CM support there is also no development for this phone! Thats my experiance in last 4 years!
..... well on Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE+ I9506 i had nothing of this ... + Samsung pushed their phones with NSA stuff like KNOX... that was the headshot overall!!!
So i will never buy a Samsung phone that is KNOXED... !!! Bye Bye Samsung!! It was a good time the last 4 years but with KNOX no more!!!
And the 5,5" Display and the Frame of OnePlus One is okay for me cause i also had a Note 2 before the S4 so i know the advantages and disadvantages of such "big" phones
It like you look through a big window instead of a small keyhole.... well thats my sense of taste for such of sizes
At least it was short journey at the s4 phone and i gained to 2 new great xda friends there who is and was willing to do something there Absolon and DeHAWK.
Ill hope Absolon and DeHAWK jump on OnePlus One too!!

Nexus 5! I'm so ready to buy one.
Wow, All of you sacrificing flagship devices... I'm coming from a midrange device, the HTC Desire X. There is not much developement there and just now it is beginning to get CM10 support which is still buggy, so I'm looking forward to get a phone with good specs, recent software and hopefully good developement. Also I'm looking forward to contribute to and support this forum as soon as I can get my hands on this phone!

I'm coming from a HTC One, don't get me wrong it's an incredible device but if I manage to sell it for ~£200 I'll definitely buy the ONE. I'm hoping for more battery life however if I do I'll miss the incredible speakers... (Stereo Downfacing?!)
Edit: I can buy it in HK where the price for the ONE will be around £200

The Oneplus One is said to have great stereo speakers as well. I don't know if they're as good as the ones of the HTC One though.

The problem is the speakers are placed on the bottom of the phone. Also the only advantage I can see from them being stereo is being louder due to constructive interference as I can't see much of a 'stereo effect' coming from speakers with that little separation...

That would be awesome thanks, I'm not expecting them to be as good but I hope they are better than the speakers on something like the S5.
id have to say id be coming from a Galaxy S4. i miss CM and im srsly debating on whether to get a N5 or not or just wait for the oneplus. although their contest sounds interesting to smash a phone...might be a fun time to head out to the WMA.
Coming from the Nexus 5. Crazy good specs for a cheaper price. 64gb is only 350 heck yeah. OPPO quality is awesome too

coming from a galaxy s2, never give up my s2 because with cyanogen it still looks like a new phone and all the features like monitor mode and things i put in it.. but the oneplus one it's just "wow" that spec for that price and already with cyanogen..
i'm gonna buy one for me and also one for my mother
Just bought a HTC One M8, but I have a fully working S4 lying around, so I'll either smash it if I get picked for the contest, or just sell it and buy the OnePlus One. So then I can say I have 2 1s. One+one. Wut.
I just got a brand new Galaxy S5 two weeks ago and if I was given a ticket to purchase a One+ today, I would do it in a heartbeat and sell the Galaxy 5.
The Galaxy 5 is a great phone but all the Samsung "chrome" is driving me insane.. and I don't want to root it because of Knox.
Note 3 att If I got picked I'd smash this Knox loving locked bootloader non development having paper weight in a second...and if not I'll sell it and buy one asap

You get used to a lower quality sound. I sold my HTC One 2 weeks ago to get a G2 and even though the G2 is louder the quality it's not nearly as good as the HTC one delivered. But as I said, you just get used to what you are currently using, don't let that stop your buying impulse .
I'm also thinking of selling my G2 and buying one even though I'm clearly not get it as cheap as others since I have to import it wheter from US or China so I'll be paying around 400-500USD wich I'm currently used to pay for my flagship phones here where I live ( that's considering that I import them not buying them from the mobile companies here wich totally ripe u off with prices as crazy as 1000USD )
From a Samsung Exhibit II. Yea, I'm quite due for an update!
Gonna jump from my HTC One (M7) it have served me well, but my body is now ready for a bigger screen, the OPO seems like a perfect fit, as I also love it coming with CM11S as the default rom.
Gonna to skip 6T , same chip as 6 . Anyone else?
if oneplus 6t will be without headphone jack 3.5 than definitely wait oneplus7 or stuck with galaxy s10.

Heh...some folks are pretty emotionally attached to their headphone jacks...
Moderator can you close this thread,no one wants to stay on topic. Thanks
The only thing that doesn't suck about being old is that you have all the coffee table one life will ever need and you can spend on toys. I usually buy two phones a year so if I like the 7 I'll just buy it then. And yeah, I'd second the idea that every thread isn't an opportunity to complain about the lack of a headphone jack, seems like the forum is big enough to have a thread or two without those complaints.
