You CAN install N900T ROMs on a N900W8 device without anything added/extra patches.
You CAN install N9005 ROMs on an N900W8 device, however you will need an N900T kernel with the N900W8 patch.
You CAN install essentially ALL S5 ported ROMs on your N900W8, however there may be problems with NFC. Easily fixable by the dev.
You CANNOT install SM-N900, SM-N900A, SM-N900V, SM-N900S, SM-N9006, SM-N9007, SM-N9008 ROMs on your device.

Im pretty sure its the N9005.
Take from GSM Arena:
msung Galaxy Note 3 N9000 with 3G connectivity
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N9002 with dual SIM card support
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N9005 with 3G & LTE connectivity.
It seems like the N9005 is the only variant with LTE.
Processor matches up as well.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 (N9005)/ Exynos 5 Octa 5420 (N9000)
Yeah the processor matches up, but would flashing a N9005 ROM on a N900W8 cause any problems? Would I need to flash a different modem?

But i did find out that you cannot flash N9005 omega rom on SM-N900W8... I don't know why, but thats what I was told.
If that's the case, then any roms for n9005 wont be flashable on our canadian variant.
Correct me if im wrong, but I think, there are no roms for canadian variant (SM-N900W8) specifically as yet.
9005 on 900W8
Hi,
I flashed a SM-N9005 pre-rooted rom on my Mexican Telcel SM-N900W8 and everything was working fine, except WIFI, it was stuck on turning on so I had to go back to stock (the problem here is that stock rom is hard locked to telcel). So maybe flashing N900W8 modem or kernel after N9005 rom will make everything work fine no?
Excuse my bad english.

A modem, (sometimes referred to as a radio or baseband), is a driver that controls the sending and receiving of your mobile Network signals as well as switching between GPRS, 3G and HSDPA. It does not control Wi-Fi or the switchover between mobile signal and Wi-Fi. That is the job of the kernel. To locate your current modem details, go to... Settings > About phone > Baseband version.

The people could be right in some sense. As some say that there is a lock between region on first activation.
Also, in the N7100 days, to port it over to the N7105, there would be files needed to be deleted/added from the N7105 file/N7100 file.

I have go to T-MO section thread, AT&T section thread, this section (guess for N9000 & 9005)thread, all of them, I found canadian asking question and providing info.
I also found out this time, Wind Mobile goes with N900W8, not with Tmo this time.
I really think starting a new section for N900W8 is necessary. But i guess we need to wait and see if dev rom get working even is N9005. If N900A, N900T both rom does not work in N900W8, at that point, the xda team will add the new section.

I just wanted to make this perfectly clear: DO NOT use this kernel on a Verizon variant (almost impossible as it hasn't been officially released). This kernel is not signed and the bootloader will error out. You'll then be soft bricked until you flash a signed kernel in Odin.
Visual proof...first the signed unsecure kernel that allowed first root on the VZN SGS4 (notice the signature at the bottom):

Again, please folks...do NOT flash this if you don't have an unlocked bootloader and an original kernel backup. Things could get REAL UGLY, REAL FAST.

Since it's now VERY obvious you are not the author of this kernel, I will try to explain what I think happened. The person that created this kernel probably (and I say probably because I'm not going to waste the time and bandwidth to download 1.9GB of software I don't need) downloaded the leaked firmware and extracted the boot.img. He then made two minor adjustments that gave root access and repackaged the kernel. This probably took all of two minutes. I haven't looked at the original boot.img, but there's a 99% chance this gives root on a N9005.
There's a 50/50 chance it will work on any other N3 variant that doesn't have a locked bootloader. It depends entirely on how closely the keys match. In the US, this means Sprint, T-mobile, and sometimes AT&T. The S4's bootloader was locked by AT&T and I'm expecting the N3's to be as well. Verizon is almost always locked unless you buy a developer edition phone. A locked bootloader will fail to boot an unsigned kernel and the phone will be soft bricked.
This is one of the reasons unlocking a bootloader is so important to people that enjoy customizing their Android phones. It allows for custom recovery installation, custom kernel (which can then be unsigned), and custom ROM installation. Root can still be achieved with a locked bootloader, but it is much more difficult.

Has anyone tried rooting the SM-N900K?
Does the galaxy3root dot com method work?
Terrified of trying this for fear that it will brick my device.
I'm trying to figure out why anyone would try this, when Chainfire has done his thing, is this to try and avoid the counters being triggered or something?

Still looking. Doesn't look like many Korean residents use this forum.
I am trying to install a 4.4.2 rom. It (phoenix) is on, but the baseband of my I9505 is still stuck at Mk2.
I followed steps to flash a new modem, but it reports failed every time.
I downloaded a stock 4.4.2 rom. It failed to install in odin. I was able to get back in recovery to use my nandroid, but I would really like to get this critter working with a 4.4.2 rom.
Is there a way to just update the bootloader?
Is there any drawback to being on the 4.4.2 BL instead of the 4.3 one I am on now?
Should I have a custom kernel that relaxes permissions or something?
Thanks tons.

That file you are trying to flash is only for the old bootloader. I think you have the new bootlader so that file is not for you. If you want to update your modem, then pick a newer modem.

I thought the NC9 designation meant it was the right modem. Is there another version of that file that is for the new bootloader? I also believe I am on the new boot loader. I got the lovely knox 0x1 warranty result to go with it...

ps why do you want to update the modem? If everything works, then it's ok. It's not that a newer modem is always better.

Thanks for the reply, I will give that thread a look. My problem is that when I move to a 4.4.2 rom I am not able to send text messages. I noticed after a few days of fighting with it that the rom I had was NB9 and the baseband of my phone was MK2.
I was under the belief that if I got my baseband to be NB9 I should have everything back in order.

I don't think its a problem with the modem. I had a similair problem once and that was caused by an incorrect "smsc number". That number is needed for sending sms. You can receive right?
I don't know how you can change it with the default sms app, but with an app like Go SMS Pro you can enter it manually.
Just google for: smsc number [insert provider here] see if that works.

I could not get into my S3's SMSC settings, but my two older phones appeared to be blank. Neither would give me anything when I hit refresh either.
I decided that since PagePlus uses Verizon that their SMSC was probably the one I needed, but that did not solve it either.
At the moment I am restoring my 4.3 stock rom. It works, so I will see if I can check the SMSC in there. Does it make any sense that I can restore a rom and have it work, yet when I put a new rom on it does not? I guess I did find several post detailing similar results back when IC was new. Maybe I am wrong about the page plus SMSC and that is my issue.
Thanks for the time and effort!

It could be a problem of the specific rom. Did you try other roms?
Does the stock rom flashing of 4.4.2 work now? If not, make sure you use the backport usb, not the front ones.

I have tried 2 or 3 different roms. Phoenix lately and Golden eye before that.
I downloaded a stock 4.4.2, but it stuck on the Samsung screen. Scared me that I had her locked up tight... I had an issue yesterday with it not coming back from a nandroid too... I had a copy on my external card though and recovered from there as well.
I am not sure if I had a USCC stock 4.4.2 when I was doing that odin attempt. I asked on a teamuscellar page if there is a stock 4.4.2 for the s4 yet, but had not seen a reply yet.
Thanks for the tip on the back port. I will give that a go when I try again. My previous message said I was bailing.. but I am really not good at giving up. =) Thanks again!

Yes, that is it. I am not sure how I started thinking I had the I9505 instead of the R970. I must have seen a post somewhere that linked them. I wonder how similar the hardware is. The roms I tried were sweet, just no texting.

I don't think you can use the i9505 roms.
After you flash your rom, try to do a wipe data from the stock recovery. I think it will boot then.

----- EDIT -------
Identified "possible" issue. However I need to know now... how can I "adjust" my store info on the phone to re become the N900W8 ?
See screenshot below for reasoning. Disregard the other phones... I went through 6 "galaxy infuse" phones with work, all with same issues... (boot up, green tint, red, orange, yellow, blue, you name it, I saw it).

Thanks,
You can edit your Build.prop to show the correct Model number.
It may also be a DPI issue, if so set it back to default (480)

How would I edit "build.prop" ?
And i'm just rebooting phone to 480 dpi, will re log into play store and check there.
*Update* even 480dpi, instead of any other alternate dpi, no change after rebooting.
Is there x time I have to wait? Or just reboot a few times, hit a few cell towers, come home and try again?
Thanks for the help!

Use root explorer to edit the build.prop -- find the model number and change it to N900W8 hit save and reboot. Should be OK . just in case do a backup cause if your build.prop gets messed up you'll need to flash stock again to fix

Right here? and Put exactly all caps, N900W8 no spaces?
edit I noticed the region is GB (great britain?) Can I change that to CA / Canada?
See pic below.
Yep that's the place. Now I can't remember if the Canadian version is N900W8 or N900w8 - I think it's all caps though like the other models

Ok,
Next portion:
GB / CA? for region?
And...
I have backed up in the recovery to both SDcard and ExtSDCard (I believe they are called).
Have 64gb microSD class 10.
Figured backup twice, can't hurt to have a backup to a backup ...
CA for region since it's the .ca model
Edit: yep two backups can't hurt

Eon's it feels like... I backed up my pc... 85 dvd's later... organized, catagorized...a-z...etc...
2nd backup is taking longer to the extSDcard. Almost done... md5 sum fun...
About to boot and try the edit.
Will report once done... And if successful...or not... huzza!
P.S. are you advertising "paranoid rom" ? ^_^ I had it for my Gnex for ages, worth it.
UPDATE
It stayed entered, but had no change to the play store (pro or con).
I noticed the highlighted zones. Suggestions?
Yeah I'm using PA on my N5.
Hmm, I'm a little stumped. Need to have a think at what the issue may be.

I could start changing all the n9005's to N900W8 .
I can also change the N900W8 to N900w8...
Rather curious what might be a solid fix for this oddity... As my work uses office 365, and I wouldn't mind using it up front.

Checked mine and all instances of N9005 on his phone were all N900W8 ( rom is meant for a N900W8 btw ). Now I can't pinpoint exactly which entry Playstore uses to determine the model number on the phone ( am really a tech noob ) but it shows up exactly as N900W8 on compatibility list. As the op said, he can try changing all the N9005 instances to N900W8 but can't really tell if something is going to break somewhere as this is a tricky portion to mess with. Btw, the location GB doesn't have any bearing on the model number, mine is the same.

So,
Funny thing...
Microsoft Note: Installable via play store on phone and online pc web browsers.
MS office Mobile is not...
Backed up to sd card and extcard.
I changed all the 9000 to 900W8
Literally in the build.prop
Saved, rebooted.
Still working, and now as mentioned, Note is installed, Office mobile is not...
?
Fairly confused how I can gain access to 1, but not both.

Root confirmed working for Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Exynos Korea SM-N915 "S" via the legend Chainfire CF-Auto-Root
FOR THE MOST CURRENT ROOT METHOD, PLEASE REFER TO THIS THREAD >> [INFO] [CF-Auto-Root] Galaxy Note Edge SM-N915
WARNING : KNOX COUNTER WILL BE TRIPPED AND WARRANTY VOID - THERE IS NO CURRENTLY KNOWN METHOD TO RESET THE COUNTER OR ROOT WITHOUT TRIPPING KNOX !!
I used : SM-N910"K" (Korea, Exynos): CF-Auto-Root-treltektt-treltektt-smn910k.zip . Another user in this thread had reported that using the SM-N910 "S" Cf-Autoroot failed to boot, so I instead tried the "K" and success. All THANKS & credit to @Chainfire, if you require the stock recovery for SM-N915S, I'd gladly send it to you if you require it to make a formal Cf-Autoroot for our device.
Root has also been confirmed using the same method and file for SM-N915"K" here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56761632&postcount=34
Method:
1. Advised: Have a full stock firmware package available (just in case) [sammobile.com or samsung-updates.com]
2. Have Samsung USB drivers installed on Windows PC (Easiest way is DL KIES from Samsung)
3. Flash via Odin [I used Odin3 v3.07 - attachment] as per Chainfire's instructions !
** If unsure how to use Odin, there are many guides found by searching !
4. Wait around 30 secs after flash (stuck on boot screen), and hopefully device will boot.
5. Open SuperSU app and update SU if prompted
Note: You will have installed stock Android system recovery for SM-N910K. This should not affect the operation of the ROM.

You can then manual theme things.

That's what I need, there's a lot of Korean apps on my phone. I have disabled some but they still show up here an there. Another very annoying thing is the dailer, it has Korean text on it which I want to remove as I only want English.
I'd be happy if I could remove some of those apps, and add the yahoo and twitter panels.
Do you think I'd able to flash an international version rom my Edge at some point?
Thanks.

I am unsure on that. The processor is different I believe and that would be a main thing.
But with root you would be able to change most of the apps and you might be able to set up the build.prop to a USA one that should let you add yahoo and get to the USA panel store.

Apart from removing a few "useless" apps, able to use various root type apps (properly) such as Greenify, Titanium, Synapse etc.
But the main reason is to control a custom kernel I intend to build (time permitting). Also remove knox features and set SELinux permissive for Titanium Backup app to work correctly.
In future, I might look at a very basic ROM, but NOT on my to-do list

Post in Q&A where your "question" belongs.
It's OT and nothing to do with my general statement of intention to develop this beast (when I get my hands on it).
I'm going to start taking a look at kernel sources sometime today/tomorrow, so I get a head start before the device arrives (Friday? )

That doesn't sound too good - is that site doggy?
I just bought a used Verizon note 3 at a great price, and I want to use it on Tracfone's att network. And I have a few questions.
But first, please know that I have tried to read up about this but am still confused so please go easy on me. Also, why did I get a Verizon phone to use on an att mvno? Att note 3's have locked bootloader. T-mobile note 3's are sim locked. Verizon note 3's are factory unlocked and the bootloader is unlockable. Plus, as I said, I got a great deal.
So, I understand that, once the bootloader is unlocked, I can run Roms for the international LTE model (n9005), the att model (n900a) and the t-mobile model (n900t). I understand that I would need to use the hlte recovery and not the hltevzw recovery to install those ROMs. My question is if I do that, will I have any problems using the phone on Tracfone with SMS, MMS, calling, etc.? Will I get LTE?
What are the steps to getting this to work? Do I need to install a Verizon model kernel? Or can I freely install kernels for other models? What about modems? Do I need to flash hlte modems or Verizon modems? I do not need Verizon service.
Any help would be much appreciated. And please let me know if any of my understanding above is mistaken. Thanks.
after bl unlock.
hlte not hltevzw twrp, rom of choice(not all i tried worked), kernel made for hltevzw, boot and set up, edit apns to you network specs, may have to change preffered network type in settings and/or radio settings. Had wonderful luck with resurrection remix and aryamod roms battery and stability wise. awesome pool of devs still cranking out top notch stuff for note 3. good luck.
might want to update modem from latest stock firmware or odin zip before bothering the rom process.
some roms specify twrp for hlte or hltevzw and diff versions. keep that in mind.

Thank you! By updating modem, I assume you mean Verizon modems. So I shouldn't try att modems, right? I also read a thread about enabling band 4 LTE for t-mobile. It looked like I needed to go into service mode to do that. Will I need to do that as well? Or is that not applicable if I'm on an international ROM? Also, what would happen if I tried international Qualcomm model kernels?
not sure about opening up lte bands for tmobile. i use att prepaid on my 900v until screen pooped out on me few days ago. yes to verizon modems. the rom won't matter in regards to LTE you only get what bands your phone is capable of getting based on what network you're using and the bands that they use. i never had to tweak bands for att service. i got good enough signal. trying kernels not meant for you particular model will result in you getting real familiar using odin to flash full factory firmware packages. Dont do it. lol.

Is there any reason to prefer a rom designed for 900v if I am not going to use verizon service? Will it be more stable or have less bugs? Could you also point me to some 900v kernels? I have been looking but I'm struggling a little bit. Thanks.
ROMs for the Verizon model will work better for Verizon service. If you're looking at AOSP ROMs you can Google search xenial kermel, or lss kernel, or idle kernel. idle and lss have touchwiz kernels as well. you can also look at phantom kernel for touchwiz.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/orig-development
here is a good starting place for kernels. check each one for 900v support. check vzw note 3 forum too. it took me a bit to get use to vzw applicable stuff not being in vzw forum. but like i said the n3 is still very active in development and options are numerous. read, read, read. try, test, try, test. find what works best for you and your device.

Thanks again. I was surprised that there isn't a single kernel thread in the Verizon dev forums. I guess all the Dev's moved on while the bootloader was still locked. So, what you're saying is that I need to check international Qualcomm kernel threads for Verizon compatibility, right? That's really helpful.
The state of the Verizon note 3 forum is really sad. I've had many devices that are older and lower end and have always found active and helpful development threads in these forums. Here, the FAQ's and guides are outdated, and the development section is like a ghost town. I guess that's what happens when a carrier decides to lock the bootloader.

Did you have the problem of the incoming caller numbers being prefixed with a "+" so that the phone mistakes the first few digits as an international area code? I have that problem and read that it happens on Verizon phones on the att network. I also read that the prefixer app can help fix that but it hasn't worked for me. Do you have any suggestions?

I had that problem with the incoming call having the "+" before the number, until I flashed the international n9005 version of darklord reborn. Now the incoming caller number works fine but mms is not working. Do you have mms working on att? SMS works fine, but mms fails to download. I am, of course, not on att, but an att mvno: Tracfone. MMS is working fine when I put the sim in another phone. I've checked the APN and data works fine but MMS doesn't. Any help? The people in the thread say that MMS is working just fine, but I assume they are running it on an n9005 and not n900v like we are, which is probably the issue.

I'm sorry... But you have been able to unlock the bootloader on the N900V for over a year now.

I'm sorry if that came off rude. I am just a little frustrated. But I think you may have misunderstood what I was saying. I was saying that the verizon specific forums do not have a whole lot of activity. As PlanetZ said, there is still a lot that's being developed for the verizon model, but we need to search and read all over the place. I am not knocking the devs or anything. Just commenting on the state of the forum.

I would try adding MMS to the APN type.. you can try changing the MMS port from 80 to 8080.. ive had to do that for att before and tracphone apn seem to mirror att apns for most part. or if you cant get it working on darklord rom try this aryamod rom..

I had zero issues with it and as far a touchwiz rom goes its smooth. or try any rom the NX team puts out. Hope this helps

Thanks for the suggestions. The aryamod rom causes the same incoming call number "+" problem. And changing mms port to 8080 didn't work. I am now trying phronesis rom with 900t rom and tmb csc. I hope this does the trick.

thats weird. did you have all roaming options turned on ? domestic and global ?
Edit: so your problem intrigued me and I did some reading I still am seems to be an issue across the board for multiple users of multiple devices of multiple ROMs with no clear fix as simple as flashing something or wiping device and reinstall... I'm going to keep researching it and see if I can't help you find a solution for the meantime you may try this app to remove the plus sign in front of incoming and outgoing calls report back and let me know if it helped...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tftbelow.prefixer
Open Prefixer
Hit the check mark to turn Prefixer "on" - to make it active
Add a rule - choose "Manual Add"
Choose for "Outgoing Calls"
Rule Enabled: Check
Title: "Take Out the plus sign"
When the number matches: .* (that means every call)
During Days: Mon-Sun
From Time: 00:00
To Time: 23:59 (yours may be a bit different; I have my phone set for 24 hour time)
Actions: Remove Characters: \+
That's all. Make sure that the rule is enabled, and that Prefixer is enabled.
or try
Open Prefixer
At the top right click on "Incoming Calls" tab.
Click "Add Rule" icon, (the circular icon with PLUS inside it on Bottom Left Corner)
In the dialog box that pops up, click on "Manual" Button
Rule Enabled:*ON
Title:*Fix Incoming plus (+) prefix
When the number matches: "\+.*" (without the double quotes) (means every call that comes in with + prefix)
Actions: Remove Characters: "\+" (without the double quotes) (remove the + prefix)
Add Number to call log:*Prefixed number*(save the manipulated number in the call log)
I have not used that prefixer app at all and those setup instructions are copy and paste from other forums of users having same issues.
