I've searched and haven't found this solved anywhere definitively. Does anyone know of a fix for the random equalizer shutoff? It's soooooo annoying and almost a deal breaker for me with this phone. I've got it to stay with Viper4 with persistent notification enabled, but only until another notification, i.e. text or email pops up and then that seems to "bump" it off.
Without EQ, this phone is an ear-bleeding mid-range blasting nightmare of a music player....
Bump?

I've noticed this a few time about my phone... occasionally i've found sound is coming out of the ear piece for some reason.... any other people having a similar issue like this? I can only fix via reboot.
Stock Rooted w/ lag fix and morphed bar/icons...
I sometimes get this issue too. Usually I hit pause, pull out the jack, and jam it back in there. It works.

This actually happens with nothing playing.. All of a sudden all the sounds just come out of the ear speaker
XDA app via Samsung Vibrant
That used to happen to my rooted G1. Maybe it's a glitch with the root method you used. I am also stock root and have not noticed that yet.
My headset Jack is a bit touchy though and sometimes music or whatever will start playing through the handset.

This happens to me every time I use T-mobile's visual voicemail.

I don't know what's wrong but poweramp just automatically stops playing after a while with headset connected. I've tried to change some settings to no avail. Anyone can help me with this?

It's probably a bad configured task killer. Try configuring it or just uninstall it already, 2.1+ doesn't need that

I'm not using any task killer. To be precise, poweramp icon still appears on the notification bar, but I can't hear anything from the headset

Had the same problem. Try killing the native music app. That should help

I frozen connected music player, but it still doesn't work. I also notice that poweramp stops playing only when the screen is off

I think a lot of people are having this problem. Does anyone have a solution please? It has probably something to do with the custom ROMs. I'm running JellyBAM on my s3, and whenever I turn the screen on it mutes. And when I put it back off again the sound turns back on. Really annoying.
I had this problem, and it was caused by the stock task manager, it was killing the app when the screen turned off.
i had this problem and the reason...headphones cable was broken and sometimes when i move it is just stop playing.
Hi Guys,
This is my first samsung so maybe its a samsung thing, but when I listen to music on my phone everytime a new notification comes through either mail or sms or anything really that triggers a notification alert to make a noise it cuts my headphones and starts playing the notification and my music through the loudspeaker and then when the notification tone is done the music routes back in to the headphones.
It is really annoying and is there an app to fix this?
This is almost more annoying to people in the same room as me than it is to me.
I'm on the latest factory ROM, rooted.
Hi,
I had this problem too.. and found answer somewhere here. For example, SoundAbout solves this issue.

Thanks, I've used SoundAbout in the past to fix issues with a cheap knockoff chinese phone, I was hoping there was a better fix hah, that will have to do for now
If you are using a player such as poweramp you can stop this pause and resume by going into settings/audio/audio focus and change the settings to not pause and resume. It will play the music and notifications at the same time. Otherwise do the above steps and turn down your notification volume to 0 manually. You will still get notifications without interfering the music.
I haven't tried other players yet but worth looking into the settings for the same features

Hello all,
Very happy with the Note 3 so far, which is no mean feat since I came from an S4.
I have however found an issue which could end up being very annoying. I use my phone for listening to music through a headphone amp and a set of UE Triple-Fi, so I'm sensitive to potential issues. I've found that when the phone is idle (no music playing, no other apps using the sound subsystem) there is a constant and very clear hiss. If I press the volume rocker down for example, it "thumps" and goes quiet for a few seconds, then the hiss returns. Similarly, if I start playing some music (Spotify or Google Music for example) again it thumps and goes as quiet as as I can hear.
Just to make it absolutely clear:
1) there's no hiss when a sound is playing, just when the phone is not outputting anything sound-wise.
2) when going from no sound to an app starting to play a sound, there's a clear, audible click/thump.
So from all the above it doesn't sound (ahem...) like a DAC SNR issue for example, just potentially a software bug. Has anyone else noticed this, are there any fixes?
Thanks!

Yepp, same problem here...and I hate it. I haven´t found a solution yet. The N2 I had before didn´t suffer of this backgroundnoise.
Thanks for replying, at least I know it's not me going crazy! Can anyone else reproduce this, or is it just us? If it's not everyone then we've got faulty devices, at least that has a solution. Thanks!

My laptop does this.
Set the brightness to full. (and turn off auto brightness.)
Also try disabling any battery-savers.
Nope, this doesn't cause it. The problem is there all the time, no matter what battery options I use.

And changing the brightness to full also has no effect? (That was the main cause on several devices.)
If not, I suspect something else is running in the background. Since it briefly stops when you press the volume keys, it is unlikely to be caused by dust in the headset port. So it has to be an app causing this.
It's still there after the latest updates. I think I might actually take a trip to a Samsung store or just an EE store and see if another Note 3 has the same problem, at least then I know if it's a general issue or if mine's faulty. To be honest, I'm starting to get a bit annoyed with it now just because of this.

I've been playing Fallout Shelter and Pokémon Go a lot lately and I noticed that if I have the sound on and I receive a notification, the in-game sound mutes. I'm not able to turn the sound back on without completely exiting and closing the app in the Recents screen. Does anyone else have this problem? It doesn't matter if it's a text, email, etc. Sound dies.

Does the same thing to me too. I'm also curious if there's a answer to this
