Carrier IQ on HTC One - One (M7) General

Hi guys,
I am no longer using H1, replaced it with LG G2.
On G2's thread, someone found that AT & T put a spy on their G2 distribution.
Just want to warn you that, it might be (on some carriers), that H1 has a spy inside it.
You could check your device with this tool :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.projectvoodoo.simplecarrieriqdetector
No root required.

Google play edition is clean.

and are all the Wildfires can be rooted or only some types ?
and what are they ?
does it have problems ?
and can i install games and app direclty from the pc or only from the market ?
what are the device colors are selling in the market now ?
and which one is better this or the aria ?
and thank you
aria is for AT&T only and Wildfire is much better that HTC Aria
If you read through this forum (and some search) I am sure your questions have been answered in one way or other. For example you asked "Does it have problem?" of course it has problems in some ways, just read the forum, you'll understand what is meant.
I am new so please help me now and answer the the questions here

Why is that? On paper Aria seems to have better specs (at least when it comes to screen resolution)

Dude, why don't you just do some basic reading around instead if troubling other people for extremely basic information you could fins out yourself?

[Q] Hello Everyone
Dear All,
I am new to this section, however associated with this forum since 2008, I am using HTC Excalibur presently and shortly planning to shift to Wildfire, I am looking for your suggestions & advices whether should I go for this device or else.
Respect for All
Peace

I personally think this is a great device and it is brilliant value for money but there are 2 major flaws for me:
Speed:
I find it a bit laggy and it is not as nippy as, say, the desire. This is mainly because of it's slower, 528 MHz processor but it is not meant for speed and meant to be a budget phone.
Display:
The screen is very low res (QVGA to be precise). This low resolution means that not all apps are available on the Android Market and that sometimes text is a bit hard to read.
Despite those issues, if you want a good, budget android phone then go for the Wildfire.
Both of the above. If you can afford it, the desire is a better device but, for the price, the Wildfire is an excellent device.

One reason I bought the Wildfire over the Desire is its more compact size......will report my experience back shortly.....

Good article

Read the article over at Android Central as well. They explain how the sky is not falling over this. You wouldn't know it reading gizmodo or other tech sites.

Yeah and it only affects stock Sense firmware as well

Sure it is not effecting anyone in this forum because we have rooted our phones and running costum roms, which by the way we had to breach the htc user agreement to do so .but remember majority of htc owners wont root their phones and i bet they are the ones who wont read that article.
my point is its sad to see a company like htc selling phones which enables anyone with a pc to spy on you and if you try to fix it yourself, you have to void your waranty (technically).
i suppose this is what happens when you try to luckdown an open platform. really root access
should be an option out of the box on all android phones.
I'm guessing that non-rooted Desires are affected because they have Sense(?), but the T-Mobile G2 does not have Sense. It does have the "Tell HTC" entry in the settings menu, but I've never gone in there or enabled it as far as I remember. I looked for the HtcLoggers.apk file, but couldn't find it in my /system/apps so I'm guessing I'm safe (though not sure if that is because I haven't triggered "Tell HTC" yet or because the G2 ROM itself is safe).
The G2 is not listed on the list of affected phones on the Android Police site, but their list looks a bit incomplete so I'm wondering if anyone has any more specific knowledge about the susceptibility of Desire and G2? (Desire yes, G2 no?)
One interesting thing that may come of this is the escalation of the need to be able to push important patches faster than the current ecosystem allows. I keep hearing talk that Google is working to reduce the fragmentation and delays in shipping new ROMs, but I don't see much happening in practice...
Is it just me, or all the phones listed on their site run at least Sense 3.0?

Looking for an android phone similar to dream g1

I want to change my phone to something similar to the G1. Someone knows if there is a phone with the same design but updated hardware (dual core)
Thanks
I wish! There really isnt, ive read about people who have attempted to change out the logic board but ive never heard of any success. Really your best option would be to go out and find som hardware keyboard android phones with more power as many of us former dream users have done.
You can run a search in gsmarena to help you out but you will be limited on options, maybe 10 that are a reasonable upgrade but only a handfull that are actually worth it.

Isn't the MyTouch 4G Slide like that? It even has a trackball type thing.

[Q] New phone

Hi everyone
I’m new to this forum and forums in general so I hope I’m in the right place for my question.
I can upgrade my Galaxy S 3 in December and I was looking at the HTC One but my carrier keeps trying to talk me out of it and is trying to sell me on the Galaxy S 4 or the LG G2.
What I would like to know is witch phone you would choose and why and not just because of specs but also just personal reasons why you would pick the one over the other.
Thank you.
Go with the HTC One
I have tried Samsung and LG and I prefer HTC sense to all the other interfaces. HTC corporate is the only manufacturer I know of that provides support for unlocking the bootloader, etc. to promote open development.... like what takes place here. I was very pleased with my Evo3d, and HTC blew me away with the One, which I currently own. I have experienced issues with all other brands. Also, the custom rom selection is unbelievable. I am running ViperOne 3.1 and it is by far the best I have ever seen or used. Hope this helped.
Hi
I'm happy with HTC since as said bl unlocking is officially supported.
I don't like Samsung coz of preinstalled apps I didn't need. The other thing is their whole marketing strategy which I can't stand.
No experience with LG phones, but their DVD writer rocks @ almost cheapest price

Thank you very much you just made me make up my mind especially because of the boot loader and open development since that is exactly what I am wanting to start playing with.
Happy to help

Happy to help! One thing I didn't mention is I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the camera on the HTC One.....the new technology is astounding and the most important aspect of all the additional light (200x's more) allowed into the pixels is the shutter speed is almost instant, and low light shots are clear. You wont miss a shot an you can probably print 8 x 10 photos just fine. If you are rooting, check out the Viper Roms. I have tried a lot and found theirs are very stable and carry the most customizations.

Bloat

Anyone find a list of apps and services that are safe to disable yet? I found a few using an S7 list as reference. I come from LG phones, so I could essentially go through and disable bloat on those phones without even following a guide. Still love the idea of LG phones, but I needed to try something new. This phone is fantastic and battery life is on par with the G6, if not better. I had the G6 for about a week, it was also a great phone.
