So I downloaded the CF Auto-Root tool and ran it according to instructions. The Odin tool status reads as follows:
Code:
<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..
<OSM> Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..
<OSM> Please wait..
<OSM> CF-Auto-Root-hltetmo-hltetmo-smn900t.tar.md5 is valid.
<OSM> Checking MD5 finished Sucessfully..
<OSM> Leave CS..
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 0)
I booted the phone normally, enabled developer options, checked off USB debugging, disconnected my phone from my PC, started the Odin executable, clicked PDA and selected the tar.md5 from the CF Auto-Root rar, put the phone into download mode via VolDown + Home + Power and pressing VolUp to continue into download mode, connected the phone to the computer as soon as it had the Android logo, and clicked Start.
I waited about 5 minutes - no changes on the device and repeated Start clicks just repeat the pasted text above.
I rebooted the phone, plugged it back into the PC, and restarted the Auto-Root steps - no luck.
I haven't installed any drivers specifically, just whatever Windows installs when I plugged in the phone.
Anything else special I need to do?
Edit: resolved and successfully rooted!
I uninstalled the default Samsung drivers and reinstalled with the exe method from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2038555
gib root oh wait have root
Thanks and thanked!
I would make sure you have all the USB drivers installed. This may be your problem.

So I've got a Euro non-carrier galaxy tab - shortly after receiving it I've done an update via Kies and this appears to of bricked the device.
Here is what happens:
Booting normally, the device sits on the Samsung logo and occasionally vibrates. This can go on for hours
In recovery, I get:
update media, please wait
update media, finished
#manual mode#
update application, please wait
check_point2: /data/app is not directory
followed shortly by the recover menu, with the following extra lines:
update application, finished
-appling muti-csc...
installing muti-csc
Now, here are the things I've done that I think are related
OCLF
Root
So - How do I fix this? I've tried pushing a fresh firmware back onto the device via odin 1.7, and this fails:

I'm running on an x64 win7 box btw.
I've tried:
wipe data/factory reset from recovery, which takes me to the screen with the andy and an orange ! in a triangle, but nothing more
the same happens if i try any option from recovery, really.
I welcome any suggestions - I've found a few people having similar issues, but no real luck in trying their solutions.
Oh hang fire guys, 'Phone EFS clear' appears to have fixed it...it's reflashing now in any case..
edit: i take that back, its made no difference at all. Ideas?
Anyone? Please help

Don't panic! As I understand you did OCLF that converted Samsung proprietery RFS into ext4. This means that in order to reflash anything new you would need to convert it back. There is extensive material on how to revert it on XDA, for example in Samsung Vibrant development forum.
Look for it and revert. Then you can use Odin.
I did a similar thing the first time Kies offered me an update for my Samsung Galaxy S, I knew I was supposed to undo the OCLF first but in my haste to sample the new firmware I forgot.. Anyway, you won't be able to fix this with Kies as you'll need to do a full flash with re-partition via Odin. Good luck, I hope you get it working again!
Tried a full flash... now am stuck at the samsung logo...

Try to shut it down holding Power button. Then holding Volume-Up and Power try to boot it into recovery.
If you see text on the screen you can try to select to do full wipe following directions from the Tab screen, then reboot.
Another option is to flash Roto-JME with internal SD formatting. This operation is supposed to restore original RFS file system as well as firmware.
Since I never did this on a top of ext4 files system and I cannot say anything about the outcome.
Thanks will try that. Downloding Roto-JME-FmtIntSD-v2.zip now
Look for the dbdata.tar file on this forum and run Odin again (2nd run)
Got it! It worked. Thanks Adapt0r! Thanks so much!
HEEEELP.. Was trying to flash to stock JVP through ODIN and i mistakenly remove my fone during flashing.
Now my fone does not even bootup anymore. It can only get to download mode.
I've tried to flash again but got no result. see ODIN message during flash below.

PLSS HELP.
This is not a brick. Have you tried to Re-open ODIN or to Restart the Computer?
i've tried both. it does not get pass the <ID:0/005> SetupConnection..
Restart computer.
Unplug phone.
Start odin.
Add files.
Connect phone.
Flash.
Be patient.

i've restarted the computer, unplug fone, start odin but it still stops at "<ID:0/005> SetupConnection.."
Also, take battery out of phone and wait for 20 seconds. then do as above.

Sometimes just waiting a while does it. Get a different version of odin maybe?

You loading up files into odin before or after you plug the phone in?
I know you are probably freaking out right now but if you can get download mode then it's still recoverable.

When you plug the phone in, is windows registering it and if so, are the drivers working correctly?

A valid point. Try Heimdall.
Have you removed sd- card and sim. Happened to me once. Removing both did the trick.

It's not a brick yet, dont worry.
1. Can you still go to the recovery mod? try to wip data/factory reset. reflash it.
2. If possible, do you have froyo 2.2 official (just as it's only one file in TAR)? Just flash it. Then flash 2.3.4 again.
Thanks all for your help.. I've tried all your suggestions but my phone won't actually boot to download mode anymore.
I've tried several times to go to download mode but to no avail. Screen is always blank (Black Screen) every time i tried.

WASSUP xdaers, i just did a major biggums. I bricked my epic, i think. I was running odin trying to undo the rooting i did in january of this year. My USB port on the phone didn't hold steady and loosen during the process. I can still charge the phone, but when i try to boot the phone back up, i get a cell phone/(!)/pc icon. I dont know what it means....except BRICK. Somebody, anybody, ladies & gents, brothas & sistas, Im in need of desperate help. Can anyone save me? PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE.
Pull the battery, and go into download mode by holding 1 and your power button.. you're soft bricked. Odin still works.

okay i did that. went back into download mode. I tried running odin again, followed all the steps and this is what it reads from the info box within odin:

I think what happened is my Android 2.1 got wiped out. can't find it or see it or nothing. I tried the recovery mode, got into that and no OS to boot up to. What now??? Still at a lost.
Try Heimdall and try it with the battery and SD card out. Instructions on Heimdall are in the 2nd post in this thread as well as a bunch of good tips in the thread.

I installed windows 7 64bit on my mac,
Downloaded CF Auto Root and odin from the second link provided for n9005 (as my Note is on 4.3),
installed samsung kies 3,
extracted the zip and launched odin,
pressed the PDA button selected CF Auto Root,
put my phone into download mode,
connected my phone with the samsung usb cable and pressed start.
I get the following output.

nothing happens on the phone display. USB debugging and install from unknown sources are both checked. Auto reboot is checked in Odin but is greyed out so I can't uncheck it.
Any help wold be appreciated.

Found the issue . When I connected my phone. Even though Kies was already installed. Windows tried to install another driver, the second my phone was connected. After cancelling the install and running odin. The root went as described in the guide and now my Phone is rooted.
Thanks

I get the 0 Succed / 0 Fail error as well (Kies exited). Is this because I'm having trouble connecting to phone via ADB?

What works for me is installing the samsung usb drivers. Even when kies is installed ( but not running ) I have no trouble connecting phone to pc.
Hi there,
Long time on-again-off-again lurker, first time poster.
Here's the situation. Today I decided to upgrade my Samsung-I337 from base MF3 to NB1. I successfully found the tar and flashed it onto my device. Then I decided I wanted to root my device. I was in the middle of the downgrading to MK2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2692825 when I decided to get up from my seat, accidentally removing the cable from my device. I don't believe I'm hardbricked because I'm still able to reach download mode and when I try to boot up normally, I get this firmware error, but my phone hasn't seemed to have reached the useless paperweight stage. I tried to flash the 4.4 odin tar from when I updated earlier back on my phone but all I get is this:
<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..
<OSM> Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..
<OSM> Please wait..
<OSM> ALL_ATT_I337UCUFNB1_I337ATTFNB1_505595_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 is valid.

I've searched around google and here but I can't find a solution. If some kind patron could show me the steps to unbrick my phone or link me to a post that could help me, that would be extremely helpful!
Can you try flashing the full NB1 tar and see how it goes? As long as you have the download mode, you should be able to fix your phone.
