[FREE UTILITY] Proximity Actions - General Marketing & SEO

Hello fellow devs, :highfive:
I am an enthusiastic and fairly new Android app developer (started like 2 years ago from total scratch).
I'd like to introduce you one of my most successful projects called Proximity Actions. It's a small, innovative and very useful utility, which allows you to perform various actions using the proximity sensor of your device. I initially developed it for personal use, since I could't find such and I really needed it for managing my Galaxy Tab 7.7. The app is about to reach 50 000 downloads in about a week or so and people tend to love it. :good:
I also made a beta testers community on Google+ called "Novum Inceptum Beta Testers" for everyone interested in testing new ideas and features. "Novum Inceptum" means "New beginning" in Latin . I'm mostly using Google+ so you can add me there.
I really appreciate any feedback so please do not hesitate to comment or even email me if you have anything to say. Also, please feel free to check out my other apps - my very first one was The Mastermind - a code-breaking game for the people who like mental challenges.

Fingerflick + Window Transition share libraries?

Hi All,
First i would like to start out by saying that this forum is the best place to be if you are a WM (HTC) phones passionate user or developer and people here are really great and has a lot to offer.
Second.. As i see in this forum (Development and Hacking) that there a lot of developers who give a lot and ther who want to give a lot but don't know where to start. I see lots of potential in the applications being developed here and potential for lots of other applications that can be developed. MS in the past has kind of misunderstod the power and usage of touchscreen by making the UI of WM not really finger friendly, although they are starting to realize that (maybe after the iPhone came out) but we wont see that for another year or so when they come out with WM 7.
Anyway to cut the story short i wanted to say that almost everyday there's a new Finger Friendly app being developed and added to the forum and people with great ideas want to come up with new applications. We definitly have 2 killer applications PocketCM and PointUI that the developers have made a wonderful job in the UI, finger friendly and espetially the window transitions. They have conqured where MS has failed (so far) in providing the right controls for developers espeically UI controls to develop rich UI applications on their platform.
I was thinking why dont the developers of these applications share their platform with other developers here in the forum instead of each developer having to start from scratch everytime a new finger friendly application to be borned? especially that these applications are all free for download (that is if the developers of these application will keep providing these apps for free and not start charging like some other did)
That's just my thought and i would like to hear what other developers in this forum think and definitly would like to hear the opinion of the 2 wonderful fingerfriendly apps.
Thanks for you time in reading this and sorry for the long post.
Happy New Year 2008
cheers

[Q] Android Market Questions

Okay, so I'm porting an app from WM 6.x to Android, and I was wondering if there was a way to limit who sees your app in the market - preferably by Phone Basebane or model.
I notice there is a ridiculous amount of troll comments on the market, and so many of those people are pretty much brain dead. Good example is the Skype app, which clearly states it will not work on Galaxy S devices. However, there are tons of Galaxy S users saying "Won't work on my Galaxy S i9k/Vibrant/whatever, 1 STAR" in the comments, and down-rating it.
My app will be free, so I don't care if 80% of the market won't see it.
I just want to make it invisible to anyone who doesn't use the phone that I used to develop or test the app, because fixing bugs for other devices that I don't have access to is no priority of mine.
Anyways, can this be done?
Post here
Post it here and some of the other android sites first. That way, you get some popularity and traction before posting on the market site.
The people in this forum can provide valuable feedback to improve it before hitting the John Q public losers. BTW, when you call them Brain Dead..... you are insulting the dead

[Q] Android App Feedback

Hi everyone,
I am part of a small tech start up from Manchester, UK and we have recently created an app using Phonegap. Don't know if many of you have used Phonegap before but it has many limitations. However we are using it as a first try whilst we learn how to make a native app.
I wanted to ask for some feedback about the Android app (we've made an iOS app also but Android is something we want to work on more) as I've received mixed reviews about it's appearance etc.
The app is to help users discover emerging music videos. If anyone could take a look and give any feedback/advice I would really appreciate it and take it all on board. Similarly if anyone else needs any feedback or constructive criticism I would be happy to look at other people's apps.
This is the first time I have posted on here but I wanted some developer advice and I hope I haven't broken any rules/guidelines.
The app is called Rormix - just search the Google Play Store
Thanks, Emma.
Hi,
Your app looks good. My first advice would be to follow the Android Design Guidelines. For example on the the action bar. Those three dots on the left are confusing. Maybe these links can help you

The apps you advertise on DappWall are placed into a special application which works as an alternative Android market. We created this app to be fun and different from other Google Play alternatives.

- You don't pay per impression. You pay a flat price.
- While with other ad companies your balance gets depleted in minutes, with DappWall your ad is displayed for as long as you want, thus burning into the users' memory!
- With other ad networks you need to give a description about your app in 40 characters. With DappWall you have almost twice as much space letting you elaborate a more appealing description!
Stay tuned for more information and don't forget to register on DappWall today and we will give you $15 free credit which you can use even for 3 weeks of promoting!

You have 75 characters to create an appealing description. Try to use it up if possible, but a catchy short description may also work! Try to find the best line that describes your app. Highlight what makes you unique.
Use call to action words like create, discover, organize, enjoy, learn, build, store, track
Use simple adjectives like beautiful, special edition, powerful, awesome, best, easiest, most popular, perfect
Use catchy adjectives like long-awaited, fully featured
Tomorrow more exciting tips are expected, so stay tuned for them! And in case you missed it, we created a video summarizing our service which you can see at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPk-W25NMmU

Hey guys,
as we promised we continue on giving you vital tips on creating successful ads in DappWall:
Start with questions like have you ever..?, did you know..?, are you..?, fed up with..?,
Don't mislead users with descriptions just to lure to your app. You will miss out on downloads and the only thing you'll get is bad ratings given by angry and disappointed users.
What do people see the very first time related to your app? Your icon! Generally the more appealing the icon of your app is the more people will download it! So create a fancy one!
Please take a look at our best practices for sample ads.
We hope we managed to give you useful tips about creating appealing ads on DappWall and we look forward to see the results! Register on DappWall today and be among the first ones who get the 15$ free credit (applicable until May 31, 2014)!

Invitation to Join my opensource project

Hi guys.. first of all i'm new to android dev and this forum. so excuse me for any mistake.. The reason im posting here is i had an idea for an app i always felt need about and couldnt find on play store. I call it iRevise.
Its a simple notes making app for students(yes there are many) but with a change. A homescreen widget with additional features to make it easy and convenient to revise/memorise the study material. am studying myself and so had started this project.. have got it into a decent app as of now for my use but there are many additional features to be added, and due to lack of time/expertise/funds i may never complete them all.. so came up with the idea of opensource. Ive released it under Apache license 2.0 on sourceforge. sourceforge.net/projects/irevise/
Invite you all to come and develop together to make this into a cool app
Am providing brief info below for anyone intrested..
Description
Well we all sweat trying to learn those nasty chemical formulae, or the weird biological names or maybe some antonyms and synonyms.Whatever it is anything which can make us learn our books better is just a boon. And when it happens automatically, its just amazing. This little appdoes exactly that. Now quickly make your own small notes for things you feel are difficult to learn.Save in the tiny I revise app,and add the widget. And it makes the notes available on your home screen so they cross your eyes every time you unlock your phone. And they get changed automatically so you get them all... Simple huh? Yes but very effective!! And with so many exciting features lined up it could end up as a really awesum tool.. So why waiting, lets code it !!
Features
Quick Revision Tool For students
Supports android 2.3+
Homescreen Widget (Auto Updating)
Backup/Restore Notes (to be added )
Share Notes (to be added)
Study Circle (to Be added)
Inviting everyone to work on the features mentioned and any extras which may be useful.. Also haven't been able to publish on play store as my old account was suspended by google(dunno why) and i dont have an additional card.. so apk also available there only...
So as you guys mustbe knowing by now am a newbie, and so if anyone finds the project intresting and wants to donate for its development, ure most welcome Even if uve an empty google play account and are ok with donating it for the purpose u're most welcome .
Finally everyone pls download the app and review it wirh any ideas which will encourage to continue this further..
