[Q] System UI has stopped error - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

okay, so silly me...to get the tab ui flashed the mod yesterday...ended up in a bootloop...i could get into recovery so i flashed the PA rom ...got a bootloop still.. logcat showing many errors...flashed the MCR ..it booted up but would only show the select "trebuchet" screen once and dissapear...i flashed the stock flashable zip ...it booted up but keeps showing the systemui has stopped error...now i m kinda freaked since its a relatively new device for me and i really am lost short of flashing stock using fastboot!...any ideas folks?

Use nexus root toolkit it will help (run flash stock and unroot)

Well I found out the problem....it was a deodex mod and my ROM was odexed...and then the MCR ROM freaked it out even more by deodexing all the data.....just did a clean install of the stock ROM and it worked...

[HELP] Stuck at HTC logo after installing bacon on unofficial CMod

What I did
1. Install unofficial CMod
2. Installed baconbits
Problem after bacon bits install on unofficial CM: i boot up the phone but it gave me an error/popup for every application i was running "google voice has encountered an error" "com.android has encountered an error" etc etc. endless popups to where i couldnt do anything on the phone other than locking and unlocking it.
what i tried to do to fix it:
3. Wipe data/factory reset
4. Tried applying Stock Recovery, thinking it would somehow help
current problem: stuck at HTC logo
please help! i just want to get it back up and running, any rom... rooted or not. i cant even get into the phone
Wow u really messed up.
Idk how to truly guide u out of this because it seems like u really don't know what ur doing. But your going to have to restore the phone. Read the thread about unrooting and returning to stock.
Also if I'm not mistaking you can fastboot flash system.img and data.img from pc10img.zip but as I said idk 100%
And flashing stock recovery is a no no because it can only read htc zips so it will block you out from flashing a new update.zip

Can you get into fastboot? Power the phone down and hold VolDown+Power.
Flashing baconbits over a non-official CM 6.1 was a mistake.... Baconbits is just an addon for a stock rom... CM 6.1 will have everything that baconbits has and more...
yes i can get into fastboot. problem is finding a htc signed rom... i think
If you are still S-OFF, you can flash clockwork mod recovery using fastboot and then just boot into recovery and install whatever rom...

Issues with running any custom ROM

Hello guys,
I wonder if somebody can help me. I bought a new Nexus 7 few days ago. As usual like with any other new device, I unlocked and rooted the device with the nexus root toolkit. After that I flashed via recovery a custom ROM. Everything worked fine, but after few hours, I wanted to try another rom, so I rebooted into recovery and the mistake I made was, that i wiped the inernal storage instead of cache. I was not able to get the custom ROM to the internal storage and the ROM was deleted, so the only option to bring the tablet to work was flashing original ROM via the toolkit or fastboot. Now I'm running on the original ROM, because when I try to flash any custom ROM, the insallation finishes fine, the tablet restarts and it gets stuck on the bootanimation.
I already tried 3 different ROMs, but the problem still persists and I have always to flash back the original ROM to get the tablet working.
Does anybody know, how to solve this problem? I really want to have a custom ROM running.
I appriciate your help!
Thanks for any ideas!

Re download the rom of your choice to the tablet. Goo manager is my preferred method Keeps from adb push to the device...
Then Boot into recovery.. TWRP is what i use..
Wipe dalvik cache and system...
you can also in twrp .. copy your rom to usb/sd media boot into twrp with a connected usb media.. do full wipe and flash the rom from usb storage.. Great for those who have issues with internal storage. This way you can wipe it as well...
Good Luck....
Hello Erica, of course iI didit this way. As I wrote, I tried 3 different ROMs and the problem is always the same. I stucks on bootanimation.
First time I flashed custom ROM without any problems, but after flashing original ROM via the root toolkit, I am not able to get any custom ROM running.

Wipe caches and if it gets s stuck at the boot screen sometimes you just have to turn it off for a bit and try turning it on in a couple minutes

did you flash a custom kernel? you are not suppose to before the first boot
Sunmann, I will try.
billchen, In the custom ROMs I tried was always a custom kernel. So it flashed kernel as well.

Hello guys, I'm back again. It still doesn't work flashing any of the custom ROMs. Does anyone, please, have any other idea, what could cause the problem?
Thanks a lot!

Wierd glitch on CM10

OK so I just installed CM10 and I have it "working" but It is not something I want permanently. Every time I go to put my original system.img any where near the root filesystem it freezes then goes to the boot animation. I cant get my my img on the device , I think its a trap to keep me on CM10  (Im JK). But can someone PLEASE help me.
Everything is a fresh install of CM10, nothing touched
Thanks
how are you trying to flash back to stock? u need to do it in fastboot. stock boot, system, userdata. if the stock rom doesn't see everything else stock it won't boot.

[Q] Stuck Boot with any custom Kernel

Hi!
I have a EU i9505, rooted with Jamal GE ROM, September update.
I tried installing KTOONsez, both version, but the phone just stays tuck at the Galaxy boot logo
si I have to clear both cache and reinstall the ROM
I tried with Chronic Kernel, same issue...phone stuck at Google 4 circles boot logo.... so I cleaned cache and reinstalled rom... BUT now the phone is not booting anymore
As soon as the boot finishes I see for a while the desktop (with the STD wallpaper and wrong time/date) andthan it reboots....
HELLLP!!!!!
Sounds like something has gone wrong with the installation process and now nothing works. I personally would now install a stock Rom via Odin and get the phone working again. Then start again installing your rom of choice. Ensure that you use an old stock firmware as newer versions have the fuse security feature. What recovery did you use. I had similar issues with Philz so now I use official CMW.

Thank you, I give it a try! I did a full wipe and reinstalled Jamal AOSP GE. Now it is working again.
I will remove PhilZ, put CWM, than flash OMEGA + new kernel

New ROM, same issue...if I install a new kernel, the device just reboots... I will try Cwm vs philz

Bootloop regardless of what rom I flash

I've tried installing the d3rp rom and optimus rom using twrp and cwm. It installs fine according to either recovery, but upon reboot I just get a loop of the sprint logo. I can restore back to my original recovery with no problem. Does anyone know why I just don't get to use custom roms? I have the v8 ota as well
I was able to flash the furnace kernel fine as well.
first of all

When you flash roms, you have to wipe everything EXCEPT internal memory. I *hope* you made a backup of the stock rom before trying to flash. Also, which version of recovery are you using?
I'm using twrp 2.6.3.3 installed through freegee. I backed up my stock rom and have no problem recovering to it after it bootloops. I just don't understand why none of the custom rom flashes will take. I've wiped everything but system and internal storage every time before flashing, multiple times on some attempts, but every time I just get a loop. However, flashing the furnace kernel on stock worked fine and did not cause a loop
I had the same problem. I tried 4 different rooms and only the flex one took.
