I was just wondering if someone could point me to what I need to go back to stock and get OTA updates, I live in the US and would like to know which file to download, or does it matter? Do I need the full package? and which honeycomb version should I do? and which file under the version of Honeycomb should I get? or does it matter? Sorry about being n00bish I just would like to get back to stock so I can start over with this thing and get the info down about it.
Hi,
I've been using AfterOTA to go back to stock. It's very easy. I used version 1.01 which isn't available now but 1.07 should still be able to do the same thing.
Which file you use is important as they are geared for different regions of the world. A lot of the files from the Full Package thread aren't there anymore so your choices are limited. It needs to be a full package though, it should be over 300MB. An update won't work.
Basically, you use AfterOTA to install the bootloader and recovery from it's stock tab. Have the update.zip file on the root of your SD card (some of them need to be decrypted). After the tool installs the stock recovery boot by holding down the left or top volume key. That will automatically install whatever update is on the card. Version 1.01 had separate ICS and HC bootloaders I'm not sure how 1.07 is set up. Then just let the update process happen.
I doubt that you'll find anything earlier than HC 3.2 for your (our) region. If you just want a stock ICS tab you could just use that update.zip and skip HC entirely.
Good Luck
Can you point me to the stock ICS zip we would use for our US tabets? I found a page on here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113878 but they dont have an ICS Full Package and I don't know which HC 3.2 one to use. it says to look at my current version but I am on a flexreaper ROM. I want to remove the recovery and bootloader and go completely stock and upgrade to OTA ICS so I can then run After OTA to get a fresh new recovery and ICS bootloader. thanks for your help.
My stock 1.104.02_COM_GEN1 OTA'd to 1.033.00_PA_CUS1.
From Vache's thread the Acer_A500_7.006.01_COM_GEN2 file will update to 1.033.00_PA_CUS1. I don't think this file needs to be decrypted.
1. Download that file. Put the update.zip file on the root of your SD card.
2. In AfterOTA on the stock tab choose A50x. This should install the HC bootloader and standard recovery.
3. Disconnect the tablet. Power down the tablet. Reboot by holding the left or top volume key while pushing the power button. This should start installing the update.zip on the card. If you wind up in CWM then AfterOTA didn't work and you'll need to downgrade.
4. Try to boot after the update. It will probably get stuck at the logo. If it does you'll need to hard reset (bottom volume key + power + slide rotation locker). It takes a while for the first boot and it might crash once while setting everything up.
5. You should be in HC 3.2 from here you can OTA all the way to ICS. You'll need to install the ACER update enhancer from the market b4 it will see the ICS update.
I hope this works for you.
CWM Recovery booted, instead of flashing the update.zip, How do I do it now?
I don't know why AfterOTA isn't working for you. I really thought it would. Oh well, Gersma says it's only for OTA. There are other people who probably know better, but I think you're going to have to get a stock bootloader on there before you can use any of those files. My guess its that you'll need to follow the downgrade guide. Search on "rollback".
I hope you find a better solution, but the rollback isn't that hard.
Good luck.
what if I apply the update.zip from CWM using the "apply update from sd card"? would that just force the up date and wipe everything with the stock bootloader and ROM that is in the update.zip?
I don't think that file will work from CWM. Maybe one of the stock ICS leaks would work. If you can load one from CWM it can load the BL and it will replace the recovery when it reboots. Then you should be able to use AfterOTA to return to stock and upgrade through the OTA's.
Hello Everyone
Thanks for the XDA to help me bring my Dead A500 back to life
after getting my uid in ubuntu and obtaining skb and formatting the whole Device and partitioning it, i am finally on stock 3.1
But I cant find an Official OTA that could get me to stock 3.2.1, and in xda site, i searched and i found the only OTA stock 4.0.3 , when i try to flash the ota stock 4.0.3 using stock recovery ie (volume down + power + update.zip in SD) After flash, i end up with a dead tablet.
tried some other ICS rooted roms and all the same, they get me to a dead tablet.
only 3.x versions will boot after flashing.
My a500 is a 16gb Gen1 , it was on the Official stock 4.0.3 , it suddely bricked for NO reason, after using V8 i got nvflash error and pointed to Root 3.2.1 ,, 3.2.1 gave me several unsuccessful tries, but suddenly one of that tries worked, successfully installed root 3.2.1 but thought i could go for ICS, after flashing ICS , i ended up with a bricked tablet.
So I again flashed stock 3.1 and luckily my tablet boots into the OS . Acer A500 4.010.40.com.gen1
What should i do. what rom should i use to go to stock 3.2.1 (or what should i do to go to stock 4.0.3 or non-stock 4.0.3)
only these two roms work for me after Stock recovery flashing:
Here are two Gen 1 roms provided by dibb_nz . Please say thanks to her.

Subject: How do I Upgrade Bootloader 3.01 to v8, with 1.7.3 recovery and a JB Rom installed ?
My A500 is currently configured as follows:
Bootloader Version 3.01
Recovery Version Thor 1.7.3
ROM Version JB-MR1(4.2) device building - v11
I would like to upgrade to the current Bootloader (from v3.01 to v8) so that I can get multi-boot working. I have followed the various posts to obtain the CPUID, but without success. As a result I am stuck at the first step without a valid SBK......
In the Recovery Screen, a CPU UUID starting with 0x037c...... with a length of 18 characters is shown. If I do a full backup from Recovery, and then have a look at the "uid.txt" file under the CWM Backup directory, it contains the same 18 character alpha numeric string.
When I tried the blackthund3r ATX flash tool's "A500Manager" it returned blank values for CPUID and Recovery Version. If I connect to the device using "adb devices" the serial number reported is an 11 digit number.
One of the guides from this forum (forgotten which guide now - I've looked at so many) suggested that maybe having a JB Rom on the old version of the bootloader was causing the problems and that a downgrade to a Honeycomb Rom was necessary. So after suitable backups, I installed the Lightspeed 2.1 Rooted Honeycomb ROM. It didn't change the way that the CPUIDs are being reported. I've since restored back to the JB-MR1(4.2) ROM.
Can someone please advise me:
1) What should the correct CPUID look like - i.e. how many characters, and alpha/numeric, or numeric only?
2) What process should I use in these circumstances to upgrade the Bootloader ?

Hi,
I recently got a old Thinkpad tablet (TPT), the 64 GB version.
And would like to install a custom recovery, i already rooted it.
But unfortunately all download links for a fitting CWM image (apparently you need different images for the 16 32 and 64 gb version) I could find were down.
So does anyone here know any working links or possibly could upload the right image for me.
And is there a recovery version that works for all size modely?
Cheers
David X.
Hi everyone, I'm having issues with my P7500 (p4) tab. I bricked it by trying to flash a PIT file to modify the system partition size, then unbricked it by installing the stock ROM I found online for the P7500. I planned to install Android 7.1.2 eOS again so I flashed TWRP but the BigSys variant for a 1GB system partition size. Now all of this worked, but now when I try to install the custom ROM it gives me error 7, saying it's for p4 while I have a p4wifi. Before I bricked it I installed this ROM fine since it is actually a p4 not a p4wifi, I tried to force it by changing the build.prop in the ROM and renaming all the model identifiers to p4wifi but still no luck. Could this have anything to do with the stock ROM I flashed to unbrick it? If so could someone point me to a stock ROM for the P7500 'p4', or was the the TWRP BigSys variant I installed (which shouldn't have modified the model code or anything)
Help is much appreciated!
Hello, I had a similar problem with my P4 that also gave me error 7 after installing the 311 TWRP big sys version because it then is set to p4wifi instead of p4.
My solution was to use the correct TWRP version for the p4. You can find one here:
index - powered by h5ai v0.30.0 (https://larsjung.de/h5ai/)
index - powered by h5ai v0.30.0 (https://larsjung.de/h5ai/)
devdb.xda-developers.com
Transfer it to you Tab 10.1 and boot into the TWRP, recovery then just install the .zip file of TWRP for p4.
After you reboot into that one, you are able to install p4 rom again (e.g.
Ae-OS-P7500-PuckRomRemix2020.zip)
I hope this helps.
TWRP 3.11 bigsys is only for the Wifi Version and not for the 3G.
