Morning,
I had my phone with me at my computer table and noticed it just started to reset its self, I didn't notice that it was doing any up dates.
Has anyone experienced this?? Does it mean its faulty?? or just something random??
Cheers

This morning I received a 2nd update from Samsung, but the unexpected reboots became even worse. 1st I had 3 or 4 a day now already 4 this morning! Even during a phone call
Last night I tried do change the setting from another tread by turning off the "wifi scan for apps" but with the new update I can not check if that would have helped.
Normally I would go on and root the device etc, but now I wait because I don want to have the discussion at the retailer about tampering etc.
So YES a lot of Note 3 owners have this problem I guess.

Hey guys,
Before my phone locks up on the splash screen, the OS (Windows Mobile 6) began to run very very very sluggish, the battery was full this morning until when I switched it on (and has not been used since) went to 30% in just about 4 hours, only bluetooth was on and no wifi nor GPS.
I then performed a soft reset to clear up some memory and to stop what ever is being used in the background, to find that after waiting for 30 minutes and only getting the Windows Mobile screen for that long shows that there was a problem.
I NEED HELP NOW! I HAVE A LOT OF INFORMATION ON MY PHONE AND IT HASN'T BEEN BACKED UP, how do I retrieve my SMS/Emails and etc. so that I can perform a hard-reset.
I've just called HTC's tech centre which is Teleplan.
They stated that I should take out the battery and leave it for say 2 hours or more, I think this was to drain the internal battery not the actually battery.
Not sure what the outcome of this may be, but I will keep you posted.

Do you have an update to this. I faced a similar problem with my WM5 device yesterday and am snce unable to load it successfully. It just remains on the windows mobile screen - Indefinately.
Please share the outcome of removing the external battery. I do not want to hard reset either since don't have my sms / mails backed up.
Thanks,
Umesh.

Sorry mate, I don't, I think I was too anxious that I installed the battery in too early, I may just leave the darn thing overnight.
I too didn't back up all my SMS's and MMS's, I have this one SMS that I sent on the exact time and date when my nephew was born! I would be stoked to find I have to hard reset my device!
Not to mention the pain in reinstalling everything!
I will update everyone tomorrow morning.
Sorry guys!

I've had this problem aswell, and the only solve I found was to hard reset it. However after that time everytime I did a soft reset I had the same problem..
Untill I reflashed my device.
Hey guys,
Nope didn't work for me! left it for say 4 hours and put the battery back and still the same issue, I since then farewelled my sms's and mms's :'( and hard reseted it.
I think I will just reflash it, and I would guess that yes it may be a rom image issue then, but why now? why not i think 2 months ago when I flashed my rom to windows mobile 6? why did it happen 2 months after?
And also, from what I know about not giving any charge to your device for a certain amount of period, this will cause the device to perform a hard reset as it would not have enough power to maintain the data on the flash storage, correct me if I am wrong though.
Sorry guys, I AM FULLY STOKED! A WORD OF ADVISE GUYS! BACK UP DAILY WITH WHAT EVERY PROGRAM YOU USE!
Hi guys,
Recently the owner of a Nexus 4, on 4.2.2 and stock, non rooted rom. Everything has been going fine until this evening when my phone was asleep and suddenly it rebooted by itself and got stuck at the Nexus logo. I rebooted it manually and same again. Another reboot later and all was fine again, but funnily enough I received a text from "FREEMSG" with links to rubbish, quite clearly a scam.
I've never ever received anything from this number before nor have I signed up for anything recently and I think it's purely coincidence it happened when the Nexus randomly rebooted but just wondered what you guys thought? No chance of a virus or anything like that? I believe a few others have been experiencing random reboots? It's made me a little nervous as I'm always so careful with this kinda stuff.

I think its just random. Unless you've installed some virus, I suppose if you had a virus the message would be a notification, not a text message.
Wait and see if there's any more text messages sent, I would say its just random, so no need to worry.
Cheers

Thanks, much appreciated. I've only installed apps from the market and most of them are well known ones such as Red Laser, Angry Birds. Maybe I'm just a bit paranoid...
Yesterday night my new S4 I9500 decided to shut down automatically, and it wont start even by removing battery.
Then after 2-3 hrs it finally did.
Now again in morning it shuts off automatically after 15 mins of music play, and wont start.
When i put charger in, it heats up.
So dont know what the hell is its problem, but seems overheating causing this.
Anyone else facing the same?

I think this used to happen and probably still does on multiple exynos devices where the device goes into deep sleep and gets stuck there. It could come right with a better kernel, so a software update may fix it. But if it still persists, get a replacement.
Let me start off by saying that this issue started back at the beginning of Dec 2015. I've had the phone since winter 2014, and for a year, it was the most amazing phone ever. However, one day as mentioned beginning in dec 2015, the phone began running extremely slow and was restarting frequently. I assumed it was a just a OS issue, and so I did a system factory reset. However, the problem persisted even after a reset and cache clearing. So I called up Samsung, and then told me to send in the phone to get looked at. Since then...I have sent in the phone 4 times to get looked and each time, Samsung has said there is no issue pretty much. I've tried phone with different new batteries, and the same problem still occurs.
The oddest thing that I've noticed with this issue is the phone runs smoothly and flawlessly, when there is no SIM card inserted. But, as soon as I insert my At&T sim card into the phone, all the lagging/restarting issues occur. It's been a frustrating 3 months trying to deal with issue, and i'm at the point where i'm throwing in the towel and calling it quits on trying to fix this phone that costed me so much money.
At&t reps were clueless when I brought this issue to them today, and told me to call samsung....even though samsung says at this point it's a network provider issue and that I bring it to At&t. I've googled this issue and couldn't find anything on this. Posting on here is my last ditch effort, and if anyone knows anything that can, I would very much appreciate it. If not, i'll prob buy a new phone out of pocket.
having the same issue since 2 days after sim change
Hi, I recently switched my carrier and inserted a new sim. Phone worked fine initially but after 1 day it has started working extremely slow. It sometimes does not wake up from sleep even when i press the home button repeatedly. Sometimes it hangs and then gets into bootloop. I factory reset my phone yesterday and the issue resolved initially but when i installed and restored my watsapp messages, the issues started all over again. Now i am thinking of flashing my phone with a different ROM and see if it helps.

thanks dr. geek, keep me posted on how that goes.
Problem persisting even after flashing a new rom
I flashed a 5.1.1 australian ROM downloaded via sammobile. but the phone started hanging again this morning. I am beginning to wonder if its an hardware problem.
I have the same problem ...
Have had my Note 4 since November 2014. And it havebeen working flawless, running rooted and everything Until yesterday when i was just casually using my phone and it started to lag and restart, no difference whatever rom. So i tried for a whole day to get it into official firmware with alot of error messages in the progress about the internal memory etc, i ended up repartitioning, and modifying my PIT-file until i finally got it working. And the same issues did still exist. Now the thing that seemed to work for me was to change battery, now it seems to run again without lagging, or anything. Tho it wont restart properly without restarting twice by itself..

Hi, i doubt it to be a battery issue. Anyways, i would really appreciate if u post an update again after 1-2 days. i just want to confirm it before spending money on a new battery.

Hey yeah, well. you're right. I only got up to 3 hour use before same problems started to occur again. I have officially given up now tho, it must be a hardware failure. Im going to send it in.
its the EMMC chip bug

I am also getting a black screen sometimes before booting which says "ddi EMMC error". I think my nand chip is corrupted. Is any one of u getting the similar error?? Also flashing my phone with a PIT file can solve the issue ??

Im getting the same, i guess you could try it. But from what ive read it seems like the only fix is for samsung to exchange your phone, or change motherboard.
Good luck with samsung fixing it. I sent it in 4 times and each they responded "no problem found". I gave up and bought a moto e.
Flashed again with PIT+Re-partition

Yesterday i flashed my phone again, this time with a PIT file and repartitioning checked. Eveything went fine but the phone went into recovery booting bootoop initially but started on its own after a few bootloops. It worked fine for sometime, but when i entered my samsung account and it started to restore my msgs, call logs and apps, after 1 hour or so it started to freeze all over again. I am starting to think that some app could be a reason too. Now i will flash again and keep using it without restoring my old phone and installing only a few essential apps and see what happens
---------- Post added at 03:28 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:26 AM ----------
I also installed an app from the play store EMMC brickbug check but it says that my NAND chip is sane (fine i guess)
Same happens to to my note 4 snapdragon phe.
Any updates ? Did anyone got it back fixed from Samsung?
Good luck
My T-mobile Note 4 started experiencing this same issue last week. Is this a coincidence or something more? For everyone with the same issue, has your phone been slightly warmer at the top?
I purchased a new Anker battery to see if that will resolve the issue and will test it when it comes. But I think the emmc is starting to go bad? It seems to work fine without a SIM card inserted also.
I just received from samsung that they need to replace the motherboard, and of course the warranty isnt covering up since i rooted it. And they're going to want 540 USD from me to do that. Sigh, last phone i bought from samsung for sure.
Hi all I have a Samsung s8+ on Vodafone UK and have got the same problem as many people out here device freezes and then reboots out of nowhere after reading endless comments on it and not getting anywhere I noticed that my phone freezes and reboots 9 out of 10 times when I'm outside and it's cold now I was wondering if anyone else has found that when there outside and have their device out it does this? Quick example I walked to the gym today which is a 10 min walk and on the way there it did it once then on my way back it did it twice now whilst being at the gym it didn't do it and being back home now for about 3 hours it hasn't happened once. Imo it's the hardware but I want to know if anyone else experienced it in this way or maybe this will trigger a lightbulb moment and we get a solution.
Thanks guys.
Quick edit: I have tried the hard reset, the factory reset, smart switch, got the latest update and device is 3 months old

Why do you think it's the hardware?
Flash a new stock rom using Odin. Get the latest version for your device and carrier.

Because it only seems to happen outside I went from last nights post to this morning without reboot but as soon as I stepped outside within 10 min it happened then I tried replying to this post and it happened again so yeah done this reply twice. I'm currently inside and it hasn't happened. I don't know if it's the battery is being sensitive to temperature changes after the exploding ones but I don't seem to have this problem indoors I was outside for roughly 25 min and it rebooted twice consistent with other times now I have read a comment of a guy describing the same problem and he had his motherboard replaced and the phone seemed to be working fine after that but there has not been an update after that so I'm not sure if that was a long term solution.
