Screen Recording used to show up when I swiped up from home. Why is it gone now? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've flashed a couple modes, and maybe done something to turn that option off. Can anyone pinpoint what change would remove that? I remember not seeing it when I first got the phone and one day it wad there. Now it's gone again. Just curious what I might have changed. I have the at&t G2 by the way.

There was another shortcut there too but I can't quite remember what it was. There were 5 in total. Now there are only 3.

Galaxy s4 turn off and restart time?

Hey guys, I was just wondering exactly how long it takes to turn off or restart galaxy s4 i337. After the mf3 update (unrooted) it takes me a good 45seconds to a minute just to turn off. (hold down power button and select 'restart' or 'power off'). How long does yours take? When I power off, the blue led light shows, and there's a blue circle on the bottom of the screen which always spins for a bit and then stops spinning exactly when it reaches a vertical direction of 6 o'clock . (directly up and down) then right before the screen turns off, which is usually 45 seconds later after the spinning stops, the phone gives a short vibrate and the phone turns of completely. Thanks guys.

That sounds about normal. I think mine takes about 30 or longer. I just set it down haven't ever timed it

Yeah but for me it's a slight bother. My camera app starts glitching and just doesn't respond... Shows black screen instead and crashes. Only resolves after a restart. And I take tons of shots... Guess I'll just deal with it. I love this phone too much haha. Thanks btw!

When I got my s4 before 4.3 booting was about 15-20 seconds, same for shutdown. Hated it! Too much background processes and bloat. 45 seems a bit long though.. I just flashed a better rom and kernel than Samsung's touchwiz. Takes about 5-10 for startup and shutdown.

If I have mf3, unrooted, is there anyway to minimize my power off time? I asked my cousin and my friend and theirs took 10 seconds to shut off approximately. Same phone

if you don't want to root to remove bloatware you can just disable them

What does that have to do anything with this topic? I already have disabled them.

br4nd3n mentioned too much bloat and background processes, and you didn't say anything about already disabling them so that's why I said that
Ah, ok

I have the same problem with my phone taking about 30 seconds to power off. Is rooted by the way. I hope is a way so we can short the time taking to power off.

Try this, but beware, don't do it in bulk! My phone got stuck on the att screen after I tried reboot and ultimately had to factory restore. Just move apps from SD card back to device storage. Now it just takes 8 seconds to shut off for me.

Thanks! Moving the apps back to the device reduced the time considerable.

Glad to hear.that's probably my first time helping someone in here.if only I waited 5 minutes so everything could have moved back to my device storage I wouldn't have had to factory restore. Good luck!

Quick window free case. .

As some of you noticed the lg g2 came with a free quick window case. Which I personally really really like. Just when the flap goes over the screen. It never stays on the screen... Its always raised. So its not stable and it can turn on the device by accident. Just wanted to know if anyone is having same issues or have a solution ( if you know what I am on about anyway)

same issue here
Mine didn't come with the case...

No free case here. But then again att likes to repackage their phones and take out all the extra goodies a phone would normally come with.

You have to break it in. It takes about a week or so.

After about a month, it's still a bit raised for me. I was hoping it'd be magnetized or weighted.
It's nice to see i'm not the only one with this problem, even though it is a pretty minor issue to me anyway, it is REALLY annoying :/
you would of though they would have put a magnet on it or something.
Yes it will work after you open and closer it about 100 times. I also layed a book on mine eventually it works as intended

I can't get adw to stick as my default launcher

I can't seem to get this launcher to stick.
I'm not rooted btw. Tia
It's been a while but I think the trick is to remove ALL of the widgets from the touchwiz screens. I fought with the same issue when moving from my Charge to the Note 3.
Edit: I'm still not rooted either.

does that include folders?
Can't say for sure. I deleted everything and started clean - no apps, no widgets, nothing. I think the widgets are all that matter since many of them are always "active".

Has any one else run I to this problem...cuz it's driving me nuts
Nothing?
I will be setting up my wife's Note 2 this weekend with ADW. Will keep notes as to what I had to do and will pass it along. I know it was the same issue with Charge and this beast.

Try long pressing the home button, then select task manager, then select clear defaults and then clear the default launcher. When you press the home screen again it will ask which launcher, select ADW and tap always.

Yep That will do it.

OT: I conversed with you over at the Charge forum. I got my Note3 last Wednesday, I'm in love and my wife's jealous. She got a S4 and is complaining about her battery running down.
On Topic: I'm using Next Launcher and didn't have any problems with it and my touchwiz setup.

Any one seeing this before?

The purple dot on the side of the screen and half of the screen became weird today. Never seen it before. It is not effecting the touch or anything.
Thanks in advance.

uh oh, screen issues
is it constantly there or comes and goes? I'd warranty it right away nevertheless
It will go away eventually.. I'm noticing it only happened when the phone in sleep mode overnight.

Strange S4 behavior

My S4 is acting crazy lately. Seemingly randomly several download icons show up in my notification area. And it's old downloads that have been moved or deleted. Any idea what's going on? Thanks.
are you rooted with a custom recovery/rom
what's your build
what have you done to fix it
I'm rooted with stock and safestrap. It's 4.3 mk2. And since I have no idea what's going on I've done nothing to try to fix it.

Still looking for help with this one. It used to happen just once in a while but now it's like this almost all the time. Very annoying.

Thanks for the replies but my problem has gone away, per se. I ended up accidentally knocking the S4 off my desk at work and cracked the screen and screwed up the display. Now I have a S5 Active. Thanks again.
