I can't get adw to stick as my default launcher - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can't seem to get this launcher to stick.
I'm not rooted btw. Tia

It's been a while but I think the trick is to remove ALL of the widgets from the touchwiz screens. I fought with the same issue when moving from my Charge to the Note 3.
Edit: I'm still not rooted either.

does that include folders?

Can't say for sure. I deleted everything and started clean - no apps, no widgets, nothing. I think the widgets are all that matter since many of them are always "active".

Has any one else run I to this problem...cuz it's driving me nuts

Nothing?

I will be setting up my wife's Note 2 this weekend with ADW. Will keep notes as to what I had to do and will pass it along. I know it was the same issue with Charge and this beast.

Try long pressing the home button, then select task manager, then select clear defaults and then clear the default launcher. When you press the home screen again it will ask which launcher, select ADW and tap always.

Yep That will do it.

OT: I conversed with you over at the Charge forum. I got my Note3 last Wednesday, I'm in love and my wife's jealous. She got a S4 and is complaining about her battery running down.
On Topic: I'm using Next Launcher and didn't have any problems with it and my touchwiz setup.

Adding ALL Apps to Multi-Window

Hi, I see there are a couple tutorials for the Note 2 regarding expanding the choice of apps to Multi-Window. Just wondering if anyone has tried it yet on the S4? I'm certain that this will be part of future ROM's and it looks it's mainly a process of modifying apk's which is above my skill level, unfortunately.
Thanks in advance!
I tried the Galaxy Note 2 method with no luck I am going to try some build prop tweaks tonight and I will report back.

An app called multi window manager on the play store that does that very nicely ... I used to use it on my note 10.1

I also can't wait to root to customize which app icons appear in the shortcut bar in the task bar with headphones plugged in.

One thing that's pretty interesting/entertaining is that since I downloaded this app, my status bar goes away anytime I use the XDA Premium app, but it doesn't do this on any other app, lol!

Something not right

When I turn my 9505 off and back on apps that are on the home screen reset and go back to the drawer, what could be causing this problem.
Thanks

Seem Odd
-Go to Applications manager
-In the TW launcher clear all data and clear all defaults.
-Restart and reorganize the layout ( If u have multiple launchers you will be prompted to choose a default one )
-Turn off and back on and see.
Hope it helped
Seems to have done the trick for now. Will keep an eye out. Thanks

[i9500] Not keeping home screen defaults

Every time I turn on, or restart my phone, I get the screen to select a launcher. I do not have any other launcher installed and every time I select touchwiz and click always, it does not stay.

I seem to have hit this problem this week too, a workaround while I figure out why it happens is to disable/freeze other launchers so there's only one left.

Hmm, that's weird, I used Titanium Backup to freeze it.
I wonder if the app clean master deleted any file needed to keep the default launcher after restarting the phone

backup your apps and do the factory reset......................:after that you'l be :good:
None of that worked.... today i got MJ5 update with 4.3 and it fixed it.

I know the music player and video player also use dlna like example you can connect to wifi and stream music and videos from another device via dlna
This is nuts, it takes the equivalent of two hours screen time... And I don't even use it!
So the only way to disable it is by purchasing titanium backup?

Strangely the same thing just popped up for me. I've had the phone a week and never noticed dlna when looking at my battery stats. Today the phone appeared to be using more battery and dlna was the top offender for battery usage.
The app will not stop, I've cleared data and cache, tried to force stop and it just won't. I'm really not sure what is using it.
I added a lockscreen widget for the quick remote app yesterday night. I've removed that to see if it was causing dlna to run more, it doesn't seem like it should but who knows.

I wasn't either, but just today it started. I finally got the DLNA process to stop, going to watch closely and see if it kicks back on again.

Hope it helps

Culprit of battery on our note is samsung.android.strokesearch
Force stop it if you are not rooted from going in th e battery stats option..
Or freeze it using titanium backup..if you are rooted...
You will definitely get 20% better battery life....as it was consuming 32%battery on my note 10.1 2014..
However dont kno what this process is related to...
It did not affected my s pen experience any way...
Sent from my SM-N900V using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
how did you find out what was draining your battery so much? Just the battery panel in settings or third party app?
Battery panel..and one thing more its better to freeze this...bcoz I have seen that its starts itself up automatically...so it pain in ass
Force closing it again and again...

Or go to Settings and disable Pen Detection. That way if the S-pen is not detached, the service will not run. Freezing the service entirely is not wise.
