Yes, you need to flash the Wi-Fi fix

Different issue probably, it's caused by having the old bootloader it seems, I bet sound doesn't work either?

[Q] Wifi problem post-kernel update.

After updating to the latest Franco Kernel (r150) earlier today, I found that my wifi no longer works:
i.imgur.com / 6LmniGC.png <-- sorry, low post count.
The wifi switch has been disabled, and I cannot turn wifi on.
I tried reverting to an older revision of the kernel, going back to r134 which I was previously using with no problems, and found that I still could not turn on wifi.
Does anyone have any brilliant ideas?
Thanks in advance.
You can try fixing permissions and wiping the dalvik/cache from recovery mode. That probably wont fix it though, it seems like your wifi config is screwed up. Franco does not mess with the wifi in his kernel so it was probably caused by something else.

Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately neither wiping dalvic/cache nor fixing permissions resolved the issue. Wifi is still unavailable.
I don't know for sure that it was the kernel update that caused the issue, but wifi was working before the update, and then wasn't available after I updated, and I didn't do anything else in between.
I don't suppose you know how to 'unscrew' a wifi config?
I had that problem awhile ago, sadly the only way I could fix it was to restore a Nandroid. If you don't have one and can't wait, I suggest you wipe the phone and reflash everything.
Perhaps someone else here has a fix though

I pulled the wifi config files from AOKP and packaged them as a zip. Install in recovery. Hope it works.

Hello

I did a clean flash ( wiped all data and restored to factory setting. I flashed the original lollipop rom now for the second time and thats not helping.
Does any one now a solution for this?

Update google play services. In setting, manager app, wipe data, cache google play, google play services, tap force close. reboot devices.

Im having the same issue. Tried flashing the rom multiple times, also my gps no longer locks except when it feel the need. Had a shop look at the gps and they replaced the antenna for the GPS and said it was good to go and gave me an app (GPS Status & Fix) and said it was all free of charge. I feel as if the rom i got from Sam caused this. Any help would be great.
I'm having exact same issue. How did you guys solve it?
Thanks
Hello there! I have a two problems wifi and BT doesn't work or greyed. Any possible things to fix them? These were my issues before on my note 2. I flashed new firmware for note 2 then the issues fixed, so do you think flashing note 4 firmware would actually help or fix the issues for my note 4 now?

Wifi Trouble

Hi Guys,
I flashed my Galaxy S4 GT-i9505 on Cm12 optimized final version (https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=21406&sort_by=date&sort_dir=DESC)
and everything was fine until I couldn't get a connection to any wifi.
I am at home now and try to get a connection to my router but it won't work.
I even flashed the matching modem.bin again (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192025)
but nothing...
I am located in Germany by the way and my baseband version is "I9505XXUGNG1".
It tries to connect via ad-hoc out of the sudden but I did not change anything.
Since I've connected via a router from the very beginning this is wrong, right?
Any suggestions what to do?
Thanks!

You are using a 4.4.2 modem on a 5.0.1 rom. That could be the source of your problem.
ps I would just update to the CM 12.1 optimized version. It's rock solid and that could possibly also fix your problems.

Thank you for the quick response!
Yeah..I just stumbled over the cm 12.1 a few minutes ago.
I will try. Will I have to install the right modem manually or is it included?

A modem is never included in a custom rom. Make sure to fully wipe before you flash the 12.1.
If after that you still have wifi issues, then you could try to upgrade bootloader and modem.

OK. Full wipe means wipe data/factory reset & wipe cache?
Because in Antares instructions it just says wipe data/ factory reset.
You mentioned that I use a 4.4.2 modem.
Won't this be on it after the reset?
Thanks for the ongoing support mate :good:

Yes it means wiping data/ factory reset from the recovery (the cache is wiped automatically in the process).
It's up to you what you want. I would still update to the CM 12.1 because it contains the latest Android bugfixes.
If after that you still have wifi issues, you could update the bootloader + modem to match lollipop version.
Or you could just update bootloader + modem now and see if it fixes it.

I think you got me wrong.
I will update to cm 12.1 anyways but my question is
whether after the wipe the old 4.4.2 modem I've got
installed still will be on my device and cause problems
with the newer ROM or not because you mentioned that
no custom ROMs have modems included.
Installed 12.1 and it seems to work fine!
Wifi works without any trouble..hope it stays that way.
The Modem is still the same but I assume that I can leave it like that.
Thank you for your help again!

Might be that the WiFi antenna got disconnected. Or it completely broke.

I don't know. But when something worked fine before and then, for no reason, stops working, then it might be the result of a hardware problem.

sometimes I click on 'hotspot' and it turns off wifi
so I play with this..
turn on hotspot turn it off, then reboot the device and then wifi is working for like 10min and automatically tuns off and it stars again..
its barely working thats why I thought it might be system error.

System error should disappear when you flash another ROM.
Did you clean flash or dirty flash?
Also, if the problem persists I suggest flashing a stock ROM (clean flash) and see if it fixes Wi-Fi.

WIFI Problem

First the problem is that the wifi was working normally but some times switch off automatically, i reboot the device and wifi will work again. Then i try to flash the modem and "NON_HLOS" and the bootloader now the wifi is not working i found the method here(https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/general/ref-galaxy-s4-i9505-modems-bootloaders-t3315987). is there any way to fix it.
there is 4 things are not working
1- wifi
2- Bluetooth
3- hotspot
4- IR LED
Flash the latest stock ROM and factory reset. If this doesn't fix the problem, the phone could have a hardware problem.

I did but didnt work
Im sure that its not hardware problem
i flash the non-hlos thats why im asking if there was any other non-hlos to fix it
Did wifi suddenly stop working? If yes, it could be hardware failure and software won't fix it.
