I have had my phone rooted for a while, and I am about ready to dive into custom ROM's. I was going to flash TWRP on my Sprint S4.
My question is, how would I go back to a Stock Recovery in case it's needed (i.e. warranty issue). I've done a search, but couldn't really come up with my about going back to a stock recovery on Sprint S4.
Thanks!

Thanks! So it looks like the file:
Download Stock MF9 Firmware Complete Except For Modem *This gives you all of the stock firmware, including recovery and kernel, except the modem.
MD5: b7ba1271c72ea86f49e2ebb7133cff79
includes the stock recovery too. That makes it easy! :good:

Did something stupid that I never ever do. I forgot to back up my STOCK ROOTED rom.
I usually do this before flashing any roms in case i wanted to flash back. Anyone have a stock, unmolested, rooted rom for N4?
Or is there a thread with the stock roms? (remember reading something about Google removing it from their site) :
Flash the stock ROM in fastboot. Then flash recovery and then the su.zip
You'll be stock with root permissions.
See jubakuba's sticky if you need help.

Thanks for link but Wow....I'm confused on what all I need to download.
If ur looking for stock rooted use one of the TW roms...3 links titled 'stock mdl or mf9 or mdc' depending on ur update. U can find that out by checking 'about device' under settings/more. Its the last 3 letters of software version.
Hope this helps.

You can just use any stock rooted rom but make sure you do a factory reset.

this is what Id do...someone jump in if I am incorrect about something...
your on sacs, so you must already have a recovery - twrp or cwm.
See what update you have...mdc, mdl, or mf9 and download that stock ROM zip file.
Find a stock kernel listed down on that page and download that (since you want the stock experience).
put both on your sdcard.
boot into recovery and wipe data/cache/davlik ( I do it 3 x)
Flash the ROM, then flash the kernel.
I think that should do it.

Looking to get to MK2 from MJA. Don't know why I can't find a post about it.
The developer Neggaman is trying to make windows based flashable .exe's and tried a recovery based .zip's but with no luck.
I Odin back to stock MJA but the phone still says it's custom and I can't take the OTA. I did trip Knox.

It worked, which is awesome because I did it with a custom ROM and recovery installed. Only thing to keep note of is just follow the instructions... in particular, you need to completely power down your phone...then go into download mode. +1 to you Thanks!!!!
So, I am still running MF9. I am rooted, and sporting a custom rom, albeit a fairly old one: Sacs_Custom 4.X with the included kernal. I want to flash a newer rom, especially since new bugs are starting to crop up. I know that newer ones are on MJA (right?) and are based on 4.3 or 4.4. So, assuming I have selected my Rom, can I simply factory reset and then flash the new rom? Or do I need to take factory updates after reset, then re-root the device to flash these newer roms?
Go get the MK2 modem without the bootloader from development section. Odin it and flash whatever ROM your heart desires

This seems very helpful, and I will tackle it as soon as my battery recharges. The one thing I want to be sure about first...I of course have TWRP recovery installed already. Flashing Philz without removing it (I assume Philz would overwrite it?) is fine, right?

Yup, here is the link to the newest Philz
http://d-h.st/fGN
You can flash Philz right through TWRP and vise versa. Flash, wipe cache and dalvik if you want. Reboot to recovery and it'll change.

So I'm in the same boat, I'm running triforce mf9.
If I'm understanding this right I should;
-flash philz(which I can do from twrp?)
-Then I can flash triforce's new mja?
That seems a little too easy with how complex http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2277480 seems.

It depends on if you want to keep mf9 as your bootloader and knox out of your hardware. If you want a little more flexibility in the long run, use the guide you linked to. If you don't care about your bootloader then follow the steps in this thread

I used odin to flash unknownforce's mk2 firmware. And flashed the TriforceV5 with the latest TWRP no problem. Made backups, switched between roms. Super easy.

How do I check/verify my bootloader after I update?
HPferoxCraft; did you keep mf9 bootloader?
I flashed philz recovery, and was going to odin the mk2 firmware, then flash triforceV5. Just want to double check before I do this.

So I'm updated now, but it appears I've lost SuperSU.
I open mybackuppro, it says I'm rooted, and asks if I want to ask for super user permission. But SuperSU never pops up, and I don't see it in the app drawer.
Thoughts, ideas?

Minor question, what's the difference between this and the super user that I had before that had like a superman triangle logo?
Getting the Status 7 error "/system/xbin/dexdump" has unexpected contents when attempting to manually flash the OTA vía stock recovery. Any one have a fix or files for this? I really don't want to clear the Wife's phone as she has it all set up already. Any help is greatly appreciated.
History:
Had Philz Custom Recovery
Rooted.
On MK2 Stock Firmware W/ Knox.
NOW un rooted with stock recovery.

Sounds like you are not completely stock, the error shows it found modded files in your system partition. Odin the full mk2 tar file first and try again.

I was hoping to avoid doing the full flash again. I have seen some threads of some Nexus 7 members flashing the required files they were so kindly provided so they can move forward to the 4.4.2 update similar to my situation. If I can't then I guess I will have to suck it up and erase her info and start over.

You don't have to erase her info, just flash the mk2 tar file and then install the update. No data wipe required.

Wait dumb question... .. . I take it that the flash won't erase the info due to being an official rom? I mean the one from random45. This has slipped my mind.......

Correct, the tar will not wipe data. Everything will be in tact from random45's download.

This forum is for the Sprint Galaxy S4, and it seems you have the T-Mobile device. Here's a link to the tmobile forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-tmobile
MK2 is the version number that is specific to Sprint. T-Mobile may have the same number or not. But all you need to do is download the .tar file for the latest 4.3 ROM that is available for your phone, put the phone in download mode, and flash via the ODIN utility that you can download as well. This is not a complete guide, so see the relevant threads in the TM forum. Alternatively, there may be a T-Mobile .tar for 4.4.2 that you can ODIN directly. It is up to you to see if it wipes data or not. The one for Sprint does.
