If you see in the zip there's boot.img and boot.lok meaning can flash it without loki-doki
Good Info Venom
Never thought of doing that
It is lokied, unusual for i9505 devs--or at least I thought so--
as far as kernels (not stock), is anyone using this, or is everyone using KTkernel?

I'm using kt's kernel. No problems with it at all, the ktweaker app is nice too; though I still use trickster mod for kernel tweaking.

Bott with loki doki which keeps the original kernel.
Alright, I got the update firmware message to go away by just flashing the newest v3.1 Omega ROM and the KT kernel.
Im having the same issue " updating camera firmware. Please wait"
I have tried everything from flash stock with oden and re-rooting the phone and installing CWM with loki and i even flashed loki doki to see if that would help and if i tried to run OMEGA 3.1 without KT kernel all i get is "System software not authorized by ATT has been found on your phone"
Everything in OMEGA seems to be working but as soon as i open the camera app i continue to get "Updating camera firmware... please wait". Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Ok thanks bud. For what rom. I'm a t-mobile user. Do I flash KT for omega I9505 or t-mobile version? I'm not sure it will even boot? I know it won't for at&t because of the locked bootloader but it's possible it will for me? I'm trying to get that camera is updating message?

I've been searching for the stock kernal for at&t users for s bit now, can't find it I'm trying to fix the annoying "updating camera firmware, please wait..." message. Unless there's a better way, I'll just assume you have to flash the sock kernal to update it. But if you flash the sock Kernal, wouldn't the phone fail on boot?

No, I'm running Wanamlite v1.0.
I just reinstalled the stock AT&T rom to allow the camera to update, but when I ran the camera, no update appeared. So I figured it was all set. After re-rooting, I re-installed Wanamlite and KT kernal, open up the camera, and sure enough the message re-appears. I didn't perform any wipes. But it looks like I'll have to because all the AT&T bloatware was re-installed again.

Your mistake was reinstalling Wanamlite again. Here's how you install non AT&T ROMs
1. Root your phone. I used the one click TWRP and Loki method.
2. Factory Reset and install custom ROM.
3. Install AT&T kernel. Let it boot up. Open Camera.
4. Reboot to recovery. Install custom kernel. Wipe cache and Dalvik. Fix Permissions.
5. Reboot. All done.

Exactly, its nice he can recommend installing a stock kernel, but they are not to be found. I asked in another thread and didn't get an answer. I somehow got it to work just wiping and installing Omega 5.0 Then to get wifi to work I installed ktoonez kernel.

okay, assuming you're using the AT&T variant, I did this:
I got the looping "installing camera firmware" and tried faux an ktoonsez with no luck
I flashed this tmobile stock kernel and the camera firmware updated successfully by going into the camera app.
I then just flashed faux kernel back and everything worked great.

I use shabbypenguin's auto loki CWM recovery, but you'll have to definitely flash the loki patch after the tmo kernel to make this work.

Hi, complete noob here.
Recently I flashed JellyBlast v3 by Avijit, but since it is now a banned rom and I will no longer get support and updates, I would want to change rom and kernel.
Am I on stock kernel or not? because in about phone settings, it doesn't show that I am running kuro kernel, it only shows that I am running [email protected]#1 (stock i think)
and if my kernel is on stock, can i flash a new rom right away???
flash kuro kernel instead
Yes you are on stock kernel and secondly it depends on the ROM's instructions and requirements since not all ROMs have the same procedure for installation.

yes u r on stock kernel.
use odin for flashing stock rom or you can restore the backup you created before (if backuped)

Thanks, that works for Canadian i377m with 4.4.2. Any recommendation of a stable ROM? Does the 'fringe' features(thermo meter, ir blaster, etc.) of the s4 work on non touch wiz roms like cm or aosp?
Only ir works and with certain apps
---------- Post added at 09:45 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:40 AM ----------
I would say stick with tw if you use the tw features try @iB4STi tw Roms with @Alucard24 touchwiz kernel what I used for the longest time using cm12 unofficial ATM but if you don't care about tw features then liquid smooth, carbon rom

Thanks! One last question, I think.
The up to date ROMs here are mostly for safestrap, if it doesn't specify that it works for our phone (bell s4) I probably should not flash it?
Some do say it can be flashed with non-safestrap(twrp) but we need to flash our carriers kernel after.
How can we make a back up of it (the kernel that I have on my phone right now) and make it flashable from twrp?
Thanks again!!
You can't or at least I don't know how... But there are touch wiz kernel that will work alucard or ktoonsez have best kernel for our phone @s3nr1
Also check in 19505 s4 thread thats where I find all my Roms that are aosp for touch wiz look in i337m/att s4 section.

Hi everyone, I'm new here.
So can anyone will help me find good kernel for my phone? I was having some problems when I used stock rom 4.4.2, i downloaded the KTSGS4, AdamKernel, Ausdim and Arter97 kernels and put it to sd card (i did choose the TW one), when i flash each one of it, i saw the samasung logo for 1 seconds and directs me to odin mode, only working kernel is arter97 but it makes my phone hot and extreme battery consumption.
I was using cm12.1 before and kernel is one from arter. I dont know what to choose whether AOSP or touchwiz because i dont know my phone whats in it. Is custom kernel will work for custom roms only? I dont if its gonna work for stock rom too.
If you want my specs so here:
Galaxy s4 (Korea SHV-E330S) KitKat 4.4.2
32 GB Internal and 2 GB Ram

Custom kernel works on certain ROMs which the kernel is designed to. Even if you're on stock, you could anyway install custom kernel but you need to watch out the annoying Knox notifications.
