First, do a battery pull. Then boot into CWM Recovery, once in recovery whipe dalvik cache (Twice) then whipe data (Twice). After that reboot the phone and it should start up normally.

You shouldn't have to have a ext4 partition to use the phone normally. No repartioning should be needed.

[Q] Flashing New Rom

Hey, when I flash a new ROM, do I need to go back to the stock ROM? I'm on Jellyblast and want to go to Evo-x. thanks!
And wiping data and cache removes bloatwares, right?

yes i suppose since there will be modified system files.
and wiping data/cache means formatting the /data and /cache partitions, removing bloatwares is different
Well you can try not to go back in stock. The important thing is you should flash the firmware where the rom is based from.

Basically you should always flash a custom ROM on a stock one,
so flash a stock samsung ROM (make sure there is no secured bootloader etc...)
then wipe and install, i always do that :good:

if you followed your instructions the rom wont boot
you need to mount system data cache after you have wiped system data cache so it should be the following
wipe data
wipe system
wipe cache
mount data
mount system
mount cache
install zip from sd
select rom zip
restart

you still need to mount system data cache after you have formatted it
you also need to be on a stock based kernel
9 time out of 10 if its not booting its due to user error
The only other thing that would stop it booting is an incompatible baseband but I assume you are on a recent one and therefore should have no problems

Do flashing kernels and wiping cache wipe data?

Hi, I own a Nexus 4, just a quick nooby question..
Will flashing a custom kernel (thinking of Faux or Franco) and wiping cache and dalvik wipe data? The main reason I want to flash a custom kernel is to underclock to save battery life, and do these have profiles so I can leave it on low clock over night and normal clock during the day?

Same answer, you don't need to wipe anything in recovery if you're flashing a kernel. And wiping cache and dalvik will not wipe your data
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
you never ever have to wipe anything when flashing kernels. never. wiping dalvik/cache before flashing a kernel is the same as wiping your butt to fill your car up with gas. its just not needed. and for all those that write it in their op, they just dont know better.

what do I wipe for miui 11

Should I wipe the system partion
What would happen if I didn't wipe it
Is it safer to keep the system in case flashing failed
System
DATA
Cache
Dlavic cache

It won't. I recommend using the Russian Twrp from 4pda.
So I don't wipe anything then flash it(don't wipe system)
After flashing clear cache and dalvic cache
Is this twrp the ' Russian fix one '

Search for twrp-3.3.1-2-davinci.zip from brigudav. If you are flashing MIUI 11 Android version 9 (11.0.2.0 PFJEUXM), you don't need to wipe anything, just cache afterwards.
