I have seen references to a FM radio app but I don't think I have one. Was this for a different model or is it possible to download this application?

I don't see it either, I looked thru the whole list of apps that you can have pop up when plugging in headset and nada, luckily I would never use it but I'm positive they said it has one.
I saw on a review that the AT&T and Verizon versions wouldn't have it. I don't see it anywhere on my vzw g2.

No it does not... Even if it did it would not work as the G2 does NOT have a Fm radio built in, its grounded, Just like the G Pro.
Internation version (D802) has fm radio!
I have the international version D802. It has fm radio!
I was right @hyelton

Just because the international version has the app does not mean the US versions have the FM hardware for the app to work..

So I moved the apk and odex into /system/app, changed permissions to 644 and rebooted, but I don't see it in the app drawer.
Do you normally have to do anything else? I remember this working correctly last time I tried a system app.

I can't even get it to install by putting it in /system/app - not sure why it won't even show up in the launcher once its placed there.

I can verify that the FM radio feature works on the Sprint LG G2 LS980 variant. I used the NextRadio app on the Play Store and disabled my data connection (3G/4G) and my wifi connection. I then plugged in my headphones to act as the antenna and clicked on a radio station and was able to listen to the radio station.
Can someone else who has the Sprint variant verify that this works for them too?
Does the FM radio feature work on the Tmobile, Verizon and AT&T version? Can someone confirm this who has a Tmobile, Verizon and AT&T version of the LG G2.

Can you post a link to the "NextRadio" app. I search my app store but don't find one exactly named like that. - AT&T on ST LG G2
UPDATE The app is only available on Sprint devices from what I found on the desktop app. BUMMER. Any alternatives on non-Sprint devices?

I noticed the EUR model has an FM Tuner app. Without having the device yet, can anyone confirm if it is possible to extract the .apk from the EUR model and install it on the US model?
I pulled the FMRadio.apk from one of the ROMs in the International section, and attached it.. Someone with root try it out on their device. Extract and adb push or something.
I doubt it but if anyone has the .apk file I can try it out

I've tried it too, doesn't work.
It's more than likely going to have to be de-odexed, and the fm radio is probably disabled in the kernel.
wouldn't a fm tuner require fm hardware?

Wasn't sure if the radio in the vibrant was the same as the European model with FM tuner support. It could be a feature like the broadcom radio in the N1
The hardware is all the same - so, this will be a driver or software issue.
I pushed the radio.apk onto my Captivate. The GUI worked fine. But, when it selected the play button an error message popped up stating that the radio couldn't be started.
I have contacted two devs about this issue. Hopefully, someone can locate the drivers - I can only assume we'll have to pull them from a Euro version dumped file/ROM.
Hopefully someone will be able to get this thing going. Subscribed
Feeling Vibrant on xda-app
Thr euro version also has the mobile access point. If we could get that ported too it would be great. That one might only need to be deodexed

I've seen some apks posted. And the mobileap.apk wood not install for me though.however, I am unsure if the ones I tried were deodexed or not. It is also possible some libs might be required for it to work.

More than likely they'll need to be pushed to /system/app rather than installed and we'll also need the frameworks to go with them. I'm just hoping there's no kernel differences.
I've seen on some phones they need a few libs.. If those are the frameworks, them please excuse my noobness

We will need a headset, as it doubles as the antenna... But a headset will do nothing until we can get the app to install.

I thought the Vibrant came with an FM radio....
It'd be awesome if the FM tuner gets working. It'd be even more awesome if LA radio stations didn't play total crap.
I just bought my daughter the Flip Out. I've read that it has a built in FM radio tuner, but that you have to use the AT&T Radio app to use it. I believe that this app costs $4.99/month.
Is this the only way to use the FM tuner?
Do you have to pay to use the AT&T Radio app if all you want to use it for is your built in FM tuner?
Thanks,
Rich

If you're saying you have a Radio option in the Music app, no I don't see one in there. (or are you talking about within the ATT Radio app?)

Check out user manual from Motorola, this should help.

Good old AT&T must have removed it from the rom to force you into their app. I did get my answer, however. You have to use the AT&T Radio app. After your trial subscription ends, it will only allow you to select FM Tuner option without subscribing.
So the FM tuner is free, that's acceptable...

Sounds about right. It would be pretty dumb to have a feature hard-wired into the device already and simply not bother to enable it. Hopefully it was just a misprint or something.
Due to tax issues LG disables radio in Turkey d802 comes without radio but if u flash UK Rom radio works. Hope someone will come up with apk solution

I doubt that it would work even if you could put it into the system folder through root. Verizon probably disabled the hardware as well. They did this on the LG G4 as well.

I wonder if Next Radio uses any data? I'm sure it very minimal if it does use any at all. But the FM radio tuner does work. I would love to see someone work on getting the LG Tuner to work on the Verizon model.

The website for that app says that it works with any phone with an FM chip and the correct API. It requires the use of headphones or some cable to act as the antenna. It does use some data for album covers and information, but you can turn that off by going into Tuner Only mode and then you will use NO data. Haven't actually tried it - just reading off their website.

No data... Your phone needs FM receiver chip. Most phones have it but carriers in the US used to disable it, lately they haven't which is good
