I have booted in recovery before, so I know I'm doing it right. and to make sure I watched a video...
Once I let go of the power button the second samsung screen comes on....and then my phone goes black and... nothing.
I wasnt rooting it when this error occured. I was charging my phone and fell asleep, i felt it was hot mid roll over and I unplugged it. When I woke up in the morning it wouldnt turn on. I have been trying to put it in recovery mode and it wont. just to see if it would, i tried to put it in download mode and it worked so i dont know whats up, i havent been able to find a forum where the 3 button boot in recovery didnt work for them.
sorrry to be such a noob. ::shrug::
Try taking out the battery and then restart

i was flashing a rom waay to late last night and i fell asleep while my fone was still in recovery and it died by the time i woke up. now it wont turn on. wat can i do? is it bricked?
When you plug it in for a few minutes and try to boot does it do anything?
Have you tried holding Home and Back while powering on? This will get you into a screen to clear data which helps some people if there stuff won't boot.

yeah it wont boot at all. and the charging light wont come on. ive seen mentioning of it in the moto droid forums where it takes forever to finally charge or corrupting file systems etc....this is not good. flashing roms while sleep is badddd
I've seen a few people on here mention that it can take a long time to get enough power back to boot, I have seen it take as much as 10 minutes on mine.
I would plug it in and walk away for a good half hour. Then try again. if that doesn't work I would want to see about switching batteries with someone to see if theirs has enough power to boot you up.
Do you have TEP? Maybe a little too late if you don't LOL
Yeah trade batterys with a friend... Heros seem to mess up when it dies in recovery. Your not bricked, you just need to get the phone to boot up.. Do the waiting charge thing as stated if that doesnt work, try another cord, if that doesnt work, try another battery... The last one is sure to work. - Devin
thank u all. swapped batteries and it booted up fine. i was worried there for a while
Can any body help? I did install the newest viper rom but it never got out of the samsung logo. When i try to get back to stock with Odin i have to live my phone all night just to see FAIL. I tried again and again until my phone just died. Now it wont turn on, turn any light on or make a sound is DEAD. When i had the iphone i could just go to itunes and fix it but i dont know what do do with this 1. Please let me know if anybody knows how to fix it. Thanks.
You can't boot it into download mode by holding the 1 and power button at the same time?
Take the battery out, put it back in after 1 minute.
Then make sure the battery is charged.
Turn it on by holding down the "1" key and power button.
If that doesn't work, it's probably bricked.
No, is really dead.
I doubt it is bricked. Charge up and enter dl mode. Odin should complete in less than 5 minutes. If it doesn't pass then reboot both your pc and phone before trying again. Also make sure you have the samsung drivers. If you are in windows 64 bit find a 32 bit machine.

I had to hold down home and power button to turn it off. now it wont turn on at all even when i plug it in the LED doesn't even come up. i am under warranty but im rooted im worried that if they end up fixing it and see that im rooted ill be charged.

Have you tried booting into safemode?
If you're willing, use odin to restore back to stock. Odin will get rid of root and put your phone back to 100% factory state. Keep in mind your personal data will be lost. After that, if you still run into problems, take it to AT&T warranty center if you want, they won't know your phone was rooted before.

Hi,
was watching Youtube on my phone (GT-I9505 with GPE ROM by yesterday. Suddenly the screen froze up, while the audio was still playing. Nothing helped so I pulled out the battery and restarted. After that everything was ok. However this morning my phone was dead. So I force restarted again, however it won't start. The Galaxy Logo comes up for a split second and then the screen goes black again. I can't even boot into Recovery Mode. I can only get to Download Mode. Has anyone an idea what to do???
Charge the battery probably a good idea.
When did you install the rom?

Oh man, it was indeed the battery. Even though I plugged it in last night it apparently didn't charge. However, since the phone didn't die right away when in Download Mode I didn't make the connection of it being the battery. Feeling like a total noob, lol. Thanks everybody.

Connect to computer and hold down both volume keys
If that brings you to the download mode you can reinstall all your firmware using odin

i have the a207m and unfortunately it did not work thanks anyway
so i could actually see it turn on and got the unlock screen and saw that battery was dead and did not have a charging symbol it turned off 2 seconds later. can it be the baterry that causes this?
It can be the battery but it could be a dirty charge port or even cable. When the battery is extremely low you're not going to be able to flash it, nor should you try. See if you can get anything out of the charger connect area on the phone.... maybe it's lint.. At this point there isn't much else besides ensuring you have a clean connection.
