How to change default calendar? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I´ve recently got the GS4 and I not a big fan of Samsung's calendar. I´ve installed Google's Calendar on the GS4 but Samsung's calendar still the default one. I use glass widget calendar on my homescreen so that I can view my events and when I click on it it takes me to my calendar. So right now I´ve managed to configure this app to take me to Google's Calendar, but I'd like this to be the default calendar always.

You could try disabling it in titanium backup or using the stock application manager in settings/more

Google Calendar

I'm brand new to android, and smart phones in general. How do I access google calendar, other than through the web browser? Like is there a way to access it through the gmail app? I hope my question is clear. Thanks!

Add your Google account under "Accounts & Sync" in the settings menu and check the box for Calendar syncing...
It will then show up in the stock Android calendar on your phone.
I'm new as well. Coming from a Blackberry. Does the my calendar that is on the phone sync with the Google Calendar online? When I am adding entry's it ask where do I want to put them...
Laristech, the calendar on the phone syncs with google. I just tried it. I assume it works the other way around too.

Correct, it Syncs back and forth between computer and phone as the information is stored in the cloud. However, when adding new events on the Phone I always add them to the Google calendar, not to "My Calendar". Which is a pain because it always defaults to My Calendar and I have to change it each time I add an entry.

Touchwiz Calendar

Hey all,
I am having trouble using the touchwiz calendar. I have four calendars to sync and only two of them are successfully syncing. I have toyed around with the settings to no avail. Has anyone had similar difficulties?
When I was using the tw calendar, I noticed it had a "my calendar" option. If you enter items on this calendar, it does not sync to Google. It stays only on your phone.
When u enter an appointment in tw calendar, I believe it defaults to "my calendar". You have to change the calendar manually to one of your Google syncing calendars.

Thank you, that is useful advice, but that was not the problem I was having. I actually found a solution.
I exported the calendar as iCal, deleted it from my google calendar settings, added a new calendar, and imported the events back onto it. Then I re-synced my account and the calendars appropriately synced.
Glad your squared up!

Getting rid of Stock E-Mail App

Hi guys,
honestly, the Samsung E-Mail Client App is a little outdated, while the calendar app isn't too bad at all. Is there a way to get rid of just their E-Mail stuff and go with the Google defaults while still keeping their s-Planner (intact!)?
Cheers
Rei
I just use tibu to freeze email.

I found a solution while playing around which seems to work so far
Installing the Mail and Exchange apks
Remove Samsung "Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync"-Accounts
Add Exchange Accounts
Reconfigure sPlanner to use the new Calendars (didn't know that that works!)
Reconfigure Contacts (not sure if Samsung did hook in there too much too)
Hiding the Samsung E-Mail App (Xpose or Hide-Apps Settings - depends on launcher)
Problems found:
Display of Contacts Birthday in sPlanner

how do i get the Calendar on note 4 to sync with google calendar?

is there in possibility to make the calendar app on the note 4 to synce with google calendar?
i tried to downolad google calendar but don't like that it never show up as full month calendar so i'd prefer to have the samsung app calendar to sync with google calendar
p.s. for general info - what you guys are using for online cloud to view contacts, calendar etc with the note 4?! google account or samsung account?
bit cunfuising.. prefer to have it all in one link online.. and in a nice view as the icloud...
I actually using free (add supported ) Bussiness Calendar. It synchronizes with both: google and samsung calendars
It simply works like bridge between them. Now I can add event on any calendar and it will appear in others within minutes.

and there is no way to make calendar samsung app to sync with google calendar ?
I use the Samsung Calendar and I have Google calendar and Facebook calendar on it. You just have to add the Google calendar on the options. Actually I haven't done nothing, it's automatic.
Samsung Calendar app is much better than the Google Calendar one For me it's one of the best app made by Samsung for our Note 4.
when adding events to your calendar you're asked where it needs to be saved(local, Samsung, Google)
choose your google account and it will be synced with Google instead.
if you want it to add events to your google account by default you'll have to remove all your Samsung, Google, and outlook accounts, and then add them again starting with your google account.(unless Samsung finally fixed this)
With business calendar you dont have to do anything. You can leave business calandar widget on one af the screens and use either google, samsung or business calendars and rest of them will get synchronized. I never tried without using business calendar widged because i found it very useful. It will probably work, so you can forget about using it and let it just do synchronization between other calendars.

How can I change my standard calendar app for calendar widgets?

I have a calendar widget (your calendar widget) on my homescreen. Always, when I click on it, it opens google calendar.
However, I would like it to open my another calendar app I recently use (Jorte).
In the android app settings, I cannot change the standard calendar app. I only found options to change standard apps for mail, browser, launcher, sms and so on, but no calendar.
How can I change it?
as far as I know, this is based on the widget. This widget can only open the Google Calendar. If you want it to open jorte, you have to use another widget.
