[Q] G2 (sub)models - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How many different G2 do we have and where?
What are the actual (non sw) differences among them?

Well I suppose there is 2 main streams of G2 at the moment the D803/802 international version/verizon/at&t and F320s/f/L which is the korean variant. The main difference is that korean variant has removable but smaller battery at 2610mah and the micro sd card slot. The LTE for korean variant might not work with the US counterparts due to different frequency.

So we already have at least 5 versions here:
D803
D802
F320s
F320f
F320L
As I live in Europe I would like to know the differences between D802 and D803.
[UPDATE]
I found that Wikipedia has some details, but too few about the actual differences.

Not to mention the Verizon version happen to be a wee bit thicker as it supports wireless charging.

[Q] What category does the Bell G2 fall under?

I for some reason had a momentary lapse in judgement, renewed my contract and got a GD iPhone 5s. I'm exchanging it ASAP and the only appealing device to me is the G2. I'm with Bell mobility in Canada, which one would it be? it's the D803.

I'd exchange my G2 with you! j/k.
I think you may have answered your own question though, it is a D803 and is separate from most of the US variants (D802). It's also physically different with the Verizon LG G2 that has differently sized buttons.

So essentially don't get it because there's nothing for it?
Here are the model breakdowns
D800 - AT&T
D801 - T-Mobile
D802 - International
D803 - Canadian
Technically the D800 and D803 are the same physically. The software will be a little different as one has been tweaked by AT&T (D800) and the other has been tweaked by Bell (although I haven't found any Bell apps on my G2).
Therefore, most ROMs designed for the D800 will work with Bell's D803, although there maybe some bugs. Just check thoroughly in the ROM thread before committing to installing the ROM.

G2 hasn't been available for a full month yet. Have some patience and respect for the devs. Your implied sense of entitlement for custom ROMs is showing.

f320 or d802?

wanna purchase the g2. but thinking of buying the international version(d802) or the Koreans version(f320)The korean version has a removable battery as well as microsd support, But i notice that there are fewer support from xda(less rom)So, what will u guys choose?
Also, both phone supports lte in my country

Should I get a D802 mainly for custom roms?

I'm looking to pick up a G2 mainly to root and install some custom Roms like Miui or Cyanogenmod. Is the D802 a good choice for this or should I look to a different device, if so can you all recommend something.
As far as ROMs are concerned, there's not much difference between the G2 variants (D801, D802, LS980, VS980, etc) because most of the popular ROMs already support all the variants. The difference lies with the hardware in the devices as they support different LTE bands around the world - there's no one perfect G2 that does it all, unfortunately, and some of them like the LS980 (Sprint model) and the VS980 (Verizon, with wireless charging support built in, the only G2 that does) have not only GSM radios but also CDMA so ROMs need to cover that as required.
The best solution is find the G2 that supports what you need supported, especially for LTE capability in your area (if a G2 can handle it, that is) and then that would most likely be the one for you.
Quite frankly, when I got my D802 I sort of regretted not importing a F320 S/K.
The ability of plugging in a MicroSD, a replaceable battery (although a tad smaller) and first to get updates seemed like a better deal.
But for custom roms, a D802 is really the way to go. Most roms are built for the D802 and the support is just outstanding. On the other hand, it's much harder to find roms that fully support the F320.
Don't bother with D805/6, they're practically a D802 with some added headache here and there. If you are on an American carrier you'll have to pick the variant specific to your carrier.
In short - go with the D802 if you want the best Rom support and development.
Go for a F320 if you want replaceable battery, micro SD and faster updates.

LG G2 Variants

Does all phone cases for D802 (International) work with F320 or other G2 variants? How about the verizon variant? It is shaped differently and the back buttons and camera looks different. Does the case still fit for it?
Theres actually a korean version of G2 that looks like the verizon variant. What model is it?
Thanks so much

G2 motherboard

hello
I have a few LG G2 D802 in the family and I'm curious if a D802 motherboard would fit in another G2, as Sprint, Verizon or any other D80x.
I think it would fit D80x but unsure about the others.
Seen a few different ones and I'm considering to buy and use a working motherboard...

Maybe could fit in other G2's but the Verizon version (VS980) is quite different starting the back buttons. Maybe other components could be different as well. Sometimes, the US hardware version of any smartphone are different from global versions except of course the iPhone.
for me D802 motherboatd working fine for D801 phone
