[Q] Oppo Find 5 vs UMS vs Kenwood BT51U - Oppo Find 5

Hi, this is my first thread on this forum, i have Oppo Find 5 a great smartphone Android but i have a problem not about the phone but i think the OS.
I have Find 5 with Paranoid 3.99 based on Android 4.3 and i want to connect phone with my Kenwood KDC-BT51U via cable. The problem, if i understand, is that the latest version of Android don't support Usb Mass Storage but only MTP or PTP and i can't use my phone neither like a USB Key! I have installed APK from this post -> [APP] USB Mass Storage for Ice Cream Sandwich & Jelly Bean [v.1.2.0-pre - 02.02.2012] but just attack cable the device is not recognized and enable UMS secondly through APP does not solve the problem. I have installed Kenwood Music Control but work only through UMS.
Can someone help me?
Thanks in advance!

Why not use A2DP?

Because Kenwood kdc-bt51u have bluetooth only for telephone and not for music with A2DP, I've tried to connect music with telephone through BTmono but the quality is very low! I need to use telephone like usb key is this stupid for Android developers?

The answer is short and you will not like it. UMS is deprecated from Google for android since 4.2 and it will not come back

Sorry but there isn't a solution? Fix with app or terminal typing something? I can't change my usb support every time that Android team decide to change protocol! Ipod use the same support/protocol from first dispositive to iPhone 5s! And is proprietary no like UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS....

If you need UMS that bad, you may go back to the Oppo's stock rom.

Sorry if I bought an Android phone thinking that with an open source we will solve the problems. The solution to stay with the stock rom does not make sense... for a maximum stay iOS6 iphone rather than ios7 but for open os not conceive! So if you have to tell me banality solutions like never update I don't need to listen one more time thanks...

I believe that you can get USM to work with android 4.2 and above AOSP builds if you have an sdcard, with out an sdcard, the app you tried or any setprop tweaks simply will not work. This maybe something that can be fixed in the ROM or kernel, but you will just have to wait and see.
This is just one of those problems of progress, with the progression of android the cost was USM...if you had gone through the progression of iPhones, your cost would have been a new "USB cable" with each device....

Great with iPhone the cost is new cable included in the box of new dispositive and with android the cost is new 150€ of kenwood not included! From my iPod 3rd gen to iPhone 4s I have used the same cable and from ipod to iPhone 5s the same KENWOOD!

Iphone sync....

Can I sync the music and videos of my iphone with my tab....or perhaps I could read and play its(iphone's contents on my tab) contents??
Is this possible...?
Sent from my XT720 using XDA App
pretty sure NO
can you access your iphone by wifi ? or bluetooth ?
anyway I am pretty sure that iP.. not allow that kind of things > or you need to buy the ultimate dongle made in apple store to allow the connection at the price of $99.99 (sarcasm?)
Why to buy a dongle when I can connect it using normal usb port....if android devices can sync thru itunes....then why not...oor is there any app available on apple to let me share via usb??
Sent from my XT720 using XDA App
hummm did you read the word sarcasm ?
- I am quite sure if you use an iphone stock you will "not be able" to sync or else... because so far I remember iphone require itune... but anyway.
also... if your music are bought from itune... they got a DRM so then you cannot copy them on another device especially with iTunes...
but I maybe wrong, I am not so far an iFan or iUser.
I try to link my Camera Photo, to the Acer, nothing, because it's not read that kind of device
but... 3.1 I think will allow USB HOST so
and concerning application from apple, ask to apple forum...

BLUETOOTH connectivity

Hey guys just wondering if anyone is working on activating the Bluetooth on the nook?
For example. Connecting it to some headsets for music.
No excepting much but please comment
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
Sorry buddy, definately no Bluetooth built in. The chip was at first mistaken as the same from the color but actually it's a chip derrived from the same as the Nook but it's had FM and Bluetooth removed to save money :/ Bummer.
The only way would be to develop a USB host mode like the Samsun galaxy and with that you have to be careful not to fry chips. mmm... chippies
thanks for the quick reply
to bad what a bumper would have been nice to have it
I have the same feeling. I was hoping that I could get audio out from BT.

Hint: USB Host mode
The NST is in fact able to do this, it even loads the USB in OTG mode, but our kernel doesn't have all the bells and whistles required for it to work.
There are patches for 2.6.29 afaik (CM), so you go recruit some kernel hackers and you'll have BT adapter support in no time
I've been reading something about this here:

Maybe we could even port it when the time comes.

It could be ported tonight if we had the right people around
Sadly, but understandably, the NST community is not as big as the phone community, and thus we lack the serious kernel hackers.

Remember, its BETA... Yes I used it for a while today, and thought it looks awesome, but right there in the 75 pages of posts, it says its still not working with wifi or usb. Hopefully beta 4 will come soon. I also had a lot of lockups and bluetooth calling worked but hung at the hang up and I had to drop the battery to reboot... but its really coming along nicely!

Like every one has said...its time to go through the thread like a big boy but for real I feel like if you want to port a rom look through at least the last 5-7 pages and see what the most current issues are, and read through the change logs that are conveniently in the description the ROM is in beta 3 and those things you said just simply don't work so from now go to the thread every so often and see what changed your questions shall be answered!

Just wanted to know if this rom included the newest accessibility features from android 4.0? It's called "explore by touch", its a screen reader for people who are blind or visually impaired which is much like Apples VoiceOver. This would be very useful to me because I'm legally blind and Android accessibility is horrible at this point in time....
Boot into recovery "Hold down button on the volume with the power buttom" go to advanced, mount and storage, and mount usb storage

[Q] USB OTG on HD2

I would like to know it the HD2 supports USB on the go, meaning can it act as an USB Host, I'd like to try out this DSLR Controler App which looks quite nice
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dslr.dashboard
If anyone has experience with it (or the ADK for that matter), let me know.
If it is a ROM thing maybe point me to one that supports it
Yes the HD2 supports USB Host, I used it when I put Ubuntu on my phone.
I don't know if the Android Roms support it, but I'm sure some do.. You would have to look around for that

working...
Hi,
check out this thread posted earlier by 'derschnelle': http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459999&highlight=usb+host
It is working now, for me atleast.
I tested it yesterday with Remote Release (USB) on my Canon EOS 7D and the HTC HD2/Leo (on CyanogenMOD9 nightlies) using a Y-USB-Cable (that came with my 2.5" external Harddisk).
However, there are two disadvantages:
1. you need a power source, like a pc, a socket with an adapter, ...
2. after applying the patch to android, the HD2 doesn't seem to charge while switched on. However, when it's switched off, it recharges. Kinda weird, will have to look into that.

CyanogenMod Forum → Device Req Samsung Galaxy Tab S2

We know there are work in progress to port CM 12 on T810 and T710 but none for T815 and T715
So those like me with T815 or T715 or ... that are looking for CM for their device can post their request in CyanogenMod Forum request page
http://forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/116361-samsung-galaxy-tab-s2/
Yes; even without phone fuctions is ok for start. I see note 4 exynos got decent cm13 now; I hope no impossible to give it for tab s2 lte. Would be great
Hey, I'm new to this, but I want to give it a shot to try a port for the T715.
I think it should be no problem to make a build without modem support.
So my plan would be to use the source of the T710, if @CTXz allows me to use his sources.
Next I want to try to integrate the modem/ RIL sources, but don't expect too much! I'm completely new to android development and this will be my first project doing myself.
Just did some compilings and ports, but never to new unsupported devices. Maybe with some help it will be possible for me.

That is a very tuff question to answer in just one post and depends on particular preferences. My advise is to Google: Cyanogenmod and TouchWiz.

It seems the main issue is battery and camera (quality).
i think i messed my t817v. i rooted using odin, and cannot figure out what to do next. it tries to install but gives error message, also my tab wont charge, and when hooked into odin it keeps "adding then removed" over and over again... now i have a tablet that does not work.
any help on this would be awesome.

I would love that!
I also posted a device request at the CyanogenMod Forum.
What you always lose with CM is Bluetooth aptX support for higher quality Bluetooth audio, since they have no licence. And since now there is official MM for the S2 and it - with enough free storage and 3 GM of RAM and root available - really doesn't profit any more from a "slim" ROM than earlier devices did, can anybody point me to a real advantage of CM?
For me CM was never about storage, but about control. As far as possible (for I am no programmer) I want to decide about the rights apps have and don't. It starts with being able to delete them and goes on with being able to restrict their access rights. As far as I remember such privacy guard things are much more easier to accomplish with CM.

My TAB s2 is my first Samsung device.... ( other android devices being nexus 7, xperia z2 / z3, moto g 4G ) ...... I love the tablet but I must say the draw of a supported CM ROM would be the look / feel of stock android and the way the system behaves. Whilst with a rooted device you can remove bloatware, the system itself does not change. All of my other devices have been stock or only lightly skinned....and basically stock once you swap out the launcher.... so I have come to like that. I do find touchwiz to be a little in my face and I do notice the system intrusions a little...... a personal thing of course and I am not complaining as I made the decision to buy it knowing full well what Touchwiz was... but the hardware in the tablet and the price was the draw-card (got the WiFi version here in Aus the first month on sale for $540 ... in comparison, the Nexus 9 was circa $700 and the Ipad Air 2 64gb was $730). My nexus 7 2013 runs MM with less and smoother than the TAB s2 runs LP. I could only imagine what it could do with an ASOP ROM once the bugs were fixed.
Could it be due to a defect usb-port?

Do u know the difference between WIndows Phone/iPhone and Android, that's the kind of comparison u can use between Stock and CM.
Stock is the cute "little" thing with mostly everything that u may need ready to go.
CM is the smaller in size, much faster and with options to do almost anything u could think in a device.

Why does the SM-T815 run in 32bit mode, even under CM13?
