Why symbian hotspot makes my 2nd-gen N7 freeze? - Nexus 7 (2013) General

I use a Nokia N7 as a wifi hotspot for my nexus7.
It is an application called Joiku spot.
But every time I launch a hot spot, my nexus 7 will scan it and become frozen.
I can see the page of WIFI but nothing in it.
No available wifi name is in it.
How to handle?

And what is this "symbian" and that "nokia 7"? ;-]

Probably meant Nokia E7. I don't know why it would be locking up. Is the tablet locking up or the WiFi list?
The best solution would be to simply slam the Nokia in the trash and update that brick.
I would test to make sure the N7 isn't locking up with all tethered wifis or just your Nokia's. I tether mine with my Galaxy Nexus all the time.

How to stop N7 from disconnecting from WiFi hotspot?

Hey guys. I use my galaxy note as a hotspot for my nexus 7. But after about 10 minutes it disconnect from my note, anyone know why this happens?

What app are you using on the note to tether?

Just going into setting and turning it on then finding it on my nexus 7 then connecting.

Sure it's not a problem with the Note and not with the Nexus 7? If it's a problem with the Nexus 7 you'd notice it dropping on your home WiFi too.
Yeah true that didn't think of that. Don't know where to start on my note either.

My razr was doing this. I used tasker to make a task that enables tethering and disable wifi sleep policy which worked.
Couldn't find wifi sleep settings anywhere else in settings.

Try tethering with Bluetooth instead of through WiFi? Not a fix, but it's a simple workaround.
I stopped using my Xperia S as a WiFi hotspot and just tether with Bluetooth. It's quicker (for me), I'm not broadcasting an SSID, and I don't have to worry about Chrome's preloading sucking up all my data because it's set to WiFi Only.

How do I get internet via Bluetooth ?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
On my Xperia S it's Settings > Wireless & Networks > More... > Tethering & portable hotspot.
Pair the two devices, enable Bluetooth tethering under "Tethering & portable hotspot", then connect from the Nexus 7 to the Note. You'll know you've done it right if the network in the Notifications on the Nexus 7 says "Bluetooth Tethered".

[Q] Nexus Q connection issues

Greetings all.
I'm having problems getting my Q to jive with my Nexus 7. I have manually reset the Q and I can set it up using my Nexus 7 but once I connect the Q to my network the N7 can no longer connect.
I have no problem getting it to work with my Galaxy S III so I'm assuming I'm doing something wrong, but I haven't got clue as to what.
Any ideas?

Now I've even factory reset my nexus 7 and have installed the latest build, still can't connect.
Starting to think Google really dropped the ball on this one.

I just picked up a Q and it constantly disconnects from my router over WiFi. It turns out that my router is one of the "Routers with Known Issues" - https://support.google.com/nexus/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2665467&topic=2663797&ctx=topic
While not a solution for everyone, since connecting it via ethernet I haven't had any problems. I still need to try updating to the latest firmware on my router or may even try a 3rd party firmware to see if it makes a difference as I'd prefer WiFi.

Start WiFi tether with my phone through the tablet?

Is there a way to start the WiFi tether from my tablet? I have a GNexus that I use and would like to be able to hop on the internet from my tablet without having to fiddle with my phone. Thanks.
Not sure if AutoTether is the solution but you can try.

I'm also interested in this since taking my phone out in the middle of class and turning on tethering would be severely frowned upon...and get my phone confiscated/get me 10+ detentions.

Bluetooth Tethering Booster?

I use Open Garden to Bluetooth tether to my Nexus 7 from Galaxy S3,generally its not too bad but sometimes the connection appears to either time out or just become weak where I have to restart the phone.
I realize this is most likely my carriers data but I'm wondering if there is an app like a Bluetooth tether booster or anything else I can install on my Nexus and/or my Galaxy S3 that might be beneficial.

Unfortunately, Bluetooth SPP (serial port profile) is pretty unstable. Without a constant keep-alive, it will time out, as you have noted.
The way I mitigate this is by having a constant ping stream in the background. You can find an app that will do constant pings in the Play Store.
Yeah I did notice that despite me setting Bluetooth timeout to never

[Q] Tethering to 3GS via Bluetooth

Hi all,
I'm currently having some trouble getting my iPhone 3GS and Nexus 7 to play nice with sharing the internet connection from the 3GS to the N7.
The devices seem to pair up ok, and the 3GS is showing that the Personal Hotspot is being shared with 1 Connection, but there isn't any internet activity going through to the N7.
I thought it might have been related to the bluetooth issues in 4.2, but 4.2.2 hasn't made a difference. I've tried any number of tutorials/forums saying to connect things in a particular order or force stopping a service and clearing the cache, but nothing seems to work.
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Nexus 7 Settings:
Stock 4.2.2 Unrooted
Connected to device for internet access - checked
Wifi Off
Bluetooth On
iPhone Settings:
iOS 6.1 Not JB
Personal Hotspot turned on
Wifi Off
Bluetooth On
Cheers.
I know what the problem is.

Have given the JB and MyWi route a go. Same story unfortunately.
The N7 and 3GS pair fine and MyWi reports that there is one client connected, but then there's no throughput to the N7 :crying:
Dropped mywi, now using either pdanet or tetherme .
They are both a lot cheaper than mywi and work perfectly, especially setting pdanet to wifitether then as soon as your nexus leaves your main home WiFi it instantly switches to the I phones tether via WiFi not Bluetooth.
Must admit though my 3g usage is getting hammered, luckily I have lots

Trying to tether via Bluetooth, with a DROID RAZR Maxx and the Nexus 7. I have root access on the Maxx, I don't think I'll need it on the Nexus but will if need be. The only successful thing I found that works part of the time is PDAnet+ and the receiving version on my tablet. I don't know if I trust that set up enough to pay to use it though. Free options? I've tried Wireless Tether for root users but haven't found Bluetooth tether access for tablets.
