Greetings all.
I'm having problems getting my Q to jive with my Nexus 7. I have manually reset the Q and I can set it up using my Nexus 7 but once I connect the Q to my network the N7 can no longer connect.
I have no problem getting it to work with my Galaxy S III so I'm assuming I'm doing something wrong, but I haven't got clue as to what.
Any ideas?

Now I've even factory reset my nexus 7 and have installed the latest build, still can't connect.
Starting to think Google really dropped the ball on this one.

I just picked up a Q and it constantly disconnects from my router over WiFi. It turns out that my router is one of the "Routers with Known Issues" - https://support.google.com/nexus/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2665467&topic=2663797&ctx=topic
While not a solution for everyone, since connecting it via ethernet I haven't had any problems. I still need to try updating to the latest firmware on my router or may even try a 3rd party firmware to see if it makes a difference as I'd prefer WiFi.

Anyone else having this problem? I setup the Q with my nexus 7, no problem at all, can stream everything perfectly and can access all the settings. Once i install the Q app on my GNEX running jellybean i lose owner access on both devices. Only way to get it back is to do a factory reset on the Q and only set it up on the nexus 7 ONLY.

I had exactly this issue the first time I tried to pair both the 7 and the Galaxy Nexus to the Q. After a reset of the Q, I was able to pair both without losing ownership from the 7.
Thanks for your reply, I've tried countless times but still have the issue. Right now I have the nexus 7 paired up with it. I removed the gnex until Google support gets back to me.

I had the exact same problem. I had to reset the device so I set it up first on my GNex and then on the Nexus 7. Well now it's doing the same thing again telling me I'm not the owner on both devices but it still plays fine.
I just reset my Q , uninstalled from both my 7 and gnex. Installed the latest version which was updated today and everything works great now. I am owner on both devices

I only got my n7 a couple of weeks ago and almost immediately updated to 4.2. I didn't notice any issues. Immediately after the 4.2.1 update I keep getting random connection issues. I have to turn wifi off and on to resolve it.

I had the issue.. 32gb version in the US with the sep build. I actually had it prior to to 4.2.1. I ended up going into advanced properties and changing wifi to always on. Drains battery, but fewer need to turn wifi off and back on.

Yes. I have WiFi disconnects and random reboots since the new update .

WiFi Fixer
I use WiFi Fixer downloaded from Google Play. When the connection is dropped it automatically reconnects after a second or two.
Same on my 7 WiFi stops working at random times turn WiFi off and on fixes it, only started after 4.2.1 update

Thanks for confirming everyone. I have wifi always on and still have the issue. Hopefully it gets fixed...

My WiFi is always on and tethered to my evo3d at least 8 hours a day. Not a single problem under 4.2.1.

Just to clarify, i'm having this problem 100% stock. Not rooted what so ever. Roms/kernels could have this eliminated. But I wouldn't know.

No wifi internet / e-mail / notifications after 4.2.1
I am having a similar issue. Stock Nexus 7, never rooted, installed the 4.2.1 update when it was pushed. Since then I can connect to wifi connections but there is no internet access. While the icon in the upper right has small flashing arrow like data is being sent back and forth, the icon remains gray and no internet-requiring services on the tablet work. I've tried everything that I (and Google Play and Asus support) could think of with no luck.
The only thing they could come up with at the end was to restore the tablet to factory settings. Unfortunately I have application data that I need to back up that I can't access by accessing the internal storage using my laptop (I'm stock, remember?).
So I'm between a rock and a hard place here. Anyone have any suggestions? It was very frustrating when the Asus representative suggested I use the built-in backup and restore feature:
Me: "That requires internet access to work right?
Asus representative: "Oh....right..."
My Wi-Fi on both my Nexus 7's is very slow. They stay connected fine but I'm getting about 150kbps download speeds. I factory reset one of them to no prevail. Anyone have any insight on this or heard of others with this issue? All my other devices work fine on the same Wi-Fi connection and I tried turning everything else off so just the Nexi where connected to see if the speeds are faster, but they aren't. I'm stock on both devices and both are the 16gb version, one older than the other.

Known issue. I logged a bug with Google and there's actually several open bugs reporting wifi issues. So far, none of the bugs are being picked up by google officially.

I've tried this same thing, and as soon as I installed 4.2, WiFi went to sh**. Completely stock.
So turning wifi off then on seems to be the generally excepted quick fix?

Or use Static IPs. That solved it for me. I had to ask my company to provide a reservation for my MAC Address. It's like back in the 90s when Wifi started coming out using the BellLabs/Lucent chipset.
i just picked up my nexus 10
got home connected to my home wifi (works on my nexus 4, nexus 7, galaxy s3, htc one x+, htc g2, xbox, laptop)
nexus 10 connected to it but couldnt launch any webpages? or even sign me into gmail?
turned on my phone hotspot and my nexus 10 connected fine and loaded webpages with no issues?
unlocked and rooted my nexus 10 and flashed paranoid android seeing if maybe a 4.2.2 would fix this, but still no luck
my nexus 10 connects to the network but its like it doesnt have a connection?
anybody have any ideas or solutions for this?
i would appreciate the help!
Any ideas?

I had this issue a few days ago and another guy just made a thread on the same thing.
Mine worked for a week and cutout. Exchanged it and the new one hasn't had any issues yet.
The other guy exchanged his twice before getting one that worked. Both of ours connected to other networks than our own. Not sure why some Nexus 10's connect and others don't. And who knows of the ones we got from the exchange will continue to work.

i found somewhere online nexus 10 has trouble connecting to ARRIS routers
just found out thats what i have
some firmware issue with the nexus 10?
thing is it shows connected to my home networks but just shows gray bars showing no actual internet connection,(no blue bars) only a connection to the router itself
im trying to find a way to assing an a static ip now. thats the solutions they found
all other routers i can connect to perfectly
Arris is what I have as well, Through xfinity. A day after I changed my first one to a static IP address was when I started having issues. Did a complete factory reset of the router and tablet. Couldn't get anything to work. I don't understand how it worked for a week and just stopped. Then reverting to all the original settings on both devices didn't help.
Maybe someone with more networking knowledge can give us a good answer. I'm really having trouble understanding how a different nexus 10 will work having the same settings and firmware.

i read somewhere same issue with arris router http://www.nexus7nexus10.com/forum/nexus-10-discussions/3007-nexus-10-problem-5.html
The quick fix I found for this problem.
Download connectify me on your pc broadcast your network under another ssid.
And my tablet works perfectly fine connected thru that
I'm still going to swap my router though

Any real solution yet? I have the same problem, my device connects to most of the wifis except the one I use at home. I got 2 actually, one router in my room and one in my dad's, the one in my room mostly never works.

No real solution. Don't think there is one I spent about an hour searching everywhere I could.
So far it looks like nexus doesn't like ARRIS routers (I have time warner, not sure about you guys)
But I'll be swapping out my ARRIS router for a motorola one this week and I'll report back here to let you know if it worked
That connectify me is working awesome though.

great find, sich its such a hot issue you should make a thread detailing how to fix it using connectify me and also potentially reporting it to google.
That may be interesting: http://ir.arrisi.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=87823&p=RssLanding&cat=news&id=1807670
Summary: Arris has bought Motorola Home and has associated with Google.

Just realized 4.3 solved this issue for me!

Same here. It seems to be only my router that it doesn't connect to. Manta is dead I'm afraid
So, when I turn on the bluetooth and connect it to anything, like headset or stereos, speakers, there is some wifi drops every 10 seconds or less which is so annoying, cant watch a youtube video or browse easy and everything is ruined, so how to fix that? And is that only me? Im rooting my phone next week, cause that was a replacement and on my old nexus 4 never used bluetooth after 7 months , so dunno if i had that on my old nexus 4 or not.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I have the same issue, when you use Bluetooth it interferes the 2.4GHz radio waves created via WiFi chip, 5GHz works fine on WiFi with Bluetooth on.

Sorry im not good at these hardware stuff, but how can i change it? Is it in the router settings or inside the phone, thanks!

Unfortunately that is where the problem comes in, I am not sure if it is hardware or software which is causing the issue.
If you want to keep connection on WiFi with Bluetooth then for now you have to use a Wireless Router which supports 5GHz (to enable support on Nexus 4 go to settings, WiFi, advanced and then Wi-Fi frequency band which will show up a list, choose "Auto" for 5GHz and 2.4GHz).

It's not fixed when I receive a call in my car the n4 drops wifi. And that was the main reason for getting a wifi router in my car. I'm on 4.3 My galaxy Nexus does not have that problem. This needs to be fixed soon.
I dunno, its fixed since i flashed the 4.3 paranoid android rom, and google support sent an email saying that its fixed in android 4.3 and they said that cause i called them several times because of that issue, Ive never had this issue on my gnex, but I had the gnex when it was on 4.1.2, i heard that its a bug in 4.2.

phones have shorter wifi range than tablets
Is your router running on 5GHz mode only, some people have issues with connecting to it.

no, auto mode. my wife's nexus 7 has no problem. maybe problem with my phone.
Have you been able to connect other routers, or try setting up a WiFi tether from another device and connect to it?
yeah it connects to other routers fine and tether to my wife's phone too, just not the router at home, but found a fix for it and working fine now.
still need to fix the problem on my htc one x.
