i have an s4, and after lots of days with suffering with me!! one night the touch stopped responding and everything i click on the screen wasnt recorded or captures!... i took it to a repair shop he said the "touch" in my s4 is damaged and needs to be replaced and costs 250$ !!
PS: the VOLUME UP, VOLUME DOWN, BACK and option and HOME and TURN OFF/ON keys are still working
connecting the S4 to PC will not allow me to see anything in the phone because there is my pattern lock which i cannot remove due to touch damage
now my question
before replacing the s4 with a touch part, is there anyway i can transfer everything i have in the internet SDcard to my PC??
i am sure i have around 10GB full in that SDcard and i need them (images, videos, songs, contacts, some apps)
i need the experts to give me a workaround to make me recover my data without having to pay for a touch part!
i am able to access recovery mode! and i can see several stuffs like root ur phone, backup and recover and mount etc...
i tried using my 2GB external sd to backup to an external sdcard but after a while it says error copying /system, i go to the external sd and i see it full but the data are like System APK files and not my images videos or data in it!!
if there is an easy solution plz tell me, or give me an idea about methods to workaround with it!
thank u
its a galaxy S4 i9500 rooted
I think you can use kies to get your media off your device. Helium can also do complete backups with or without rooting.

kies says the phone is locked with a pattern lock and it should be unlocked before it can show my data!! and i guess helium too since i am not able to control my phone
nothing to worried about. just replace that part. internal storage will remain as its.
Try work with mouse on your phone

if you are able to access recovery, just make a backup of your rom on your sd card, and take out the sd card before sending it for repairs, when it comes back you can restore from the backup u made earlier.

Yesterday ,my nexus 4 rom has some problem,i must reset to factory mod.but i forget backup,so all the data in the device memory have been format.the data include some important pics,i want to recover them, but ater android 4.0,the "larege capacity disk mode"has been cancel, all the recover software ,such as"finall data" can't work in exit 4 mode,so plz give me a method to solve it .the pic is important to me!thankyou!
If the data has already been formated, then you can't recover it. It's gone.

Dude. Don't rage.
Formatting data=deleting it permanently
You can't recovery formatted data. It's gone.
Next time, remember to do a backup.
If you google "recover formatted pics nexus 4" and have a read of the results then you will find progs for your pc/mac and apps for the phone that say you can recover your files from both internal sd(os side) and the sd card(data side).
You can use the trial versions to see what is recoverable but if you want the actual recovery then you will have to pay,its up to you.

How is it possible to have a custom system status if I did not root my phone? I tried to do a check for a software update, and it says "your device has been modified. Software updates are not available." I have not rooted my phone, so I'm not sure how the system could be "custom". I checked the Knox kernel and warranty void, both are 0x0. Any ideas?
UPDATE: I unmounted and removed my sd card, restarted the phone and it's fine. This is the same sd card that I used in my rooted Note2. I wonder if there's something left over that's making the Note 3 think it's rooted....

It works until you reinsert the sd card and reboot. I'm not sure what on the sd card is making it think it's rooted. I think I will try wiping my sd card. Will report back.
UPDATE: Ok, wiping the sd card works.
its because you have a 64GB SD card...note sure why, but i had this issue since my S4 and still have it today on my note 3. It sucks but it will come back whenever you start putting stuff back on your SD, there is no way around this, i've been working on a thread in the S4 section and have over 300 replies but no one was able to fix this

yes it looks like to be specific to a 64GB card...
but I've done a few tests one year ago on my S3 that also had the same problem...
it was working fine with a newly formatted card.
it was also working fine with a small amount of music file... but as soon as I filled my card (with at 5GB space left), it started to show custom status.
Today I found out that I had the same problem with my Note 3 when trying to detect/install the latest update. Sad to see that Samsung did not fix this problem.
it looks like that that process that scans the SD card at boot is causing some type of false identification...
I'm sure it would be an easy fix for Samsung... but you have to find someone to first understand this problem and work on it.
I've contacted Samsung support in the past and the only thing they told me was to use a 32GB card max.
I found something interesting today...
I synched around 50GB of music files today... And after a reboot, I got the custom device status. My sync folder had a few hundreds of files and subfolders.
I moved all the files in one unique folder and rebooted my device.
Boot was faster... Media scanner finished a lot faster... And device status was back to normal.
It's not a fix... But at least it's a work around that might help someone.

Thousands. About 40gb worth of music. And i cant do anything about it because its isyncr that manages that

I have an External sd card issue after updating to 4.4, now I know there are alot of people experiencing access issues but mines is different and wanted to know if you guys are having the same crap, so I can access my ext sd no prob but unfortunately I cannot right any data to it anymore, if I try a full reformat of the ext sd card in my phone it will format and after it will rebuild and come back with pics and music etc, if I try to reformat it in the pc it will not, when I take pictures and it goes to the external sd it will be gone or become corrupt when I reboot, anyone having the same issues???
its less then a year old sandisk 64gb class 10 it would be weird but its also a coincidence it happened only after I updated to 4.4....
Its not weird at all. If you google about that you will find a fix. But first you have to be rooted.
You are going to add media_rw to your platform.xml.
Just google a bit. And you'll find the answer.

Yes. You have to wait for your app to be updated by the dev. I have several apps that is already kitkat compatible. They can write or delete in my ExtSdCard. Anyway. The best way is to root your device. Thats all.
I think it sounds more like what happened to my SD card. It became Read Only and I had to send it back for a replacement. Nothing to do with KitKat.
Check out this thread and I hope it helps (solved) 64gb sd card stuck on read only
This is not the KitKat issue, the Stock Camera was one of the first apps to be updated...
Does this also happen with a different SD?

I had a dodgy microsd not to long ago. It was really screwed, couldn't be read or write to. After formatting a zillion times on all my different devices, I tried a recovery program I had got when I accidentally wiped my 1tb hdd. To my surprise after recovering all the media on the card; I cant remember if there was an option to restore partiton table, but it worked like normal again.
Anyway here's the name of the program:
MiniTool Power Data Recovery
http://www.powerdatarecovery.com/
-looking at it now.
Once you've formatted your sd-card try recovering the media on it (free version only does 1gb). Then try testing again see if its fixed.
If it doesn't do anything there is a couple of other options.
- Damaged partion recovery and lost partion recovery. I'd give these a try and do a quick format after doing so.
Hopefully this program helps, it brought a dead card right back to life for me.
Not affiliated with this program in any way.

Hi,
For me it's not acceptable to have a device with ext SD support but able to use it!
I spend nearly one hour to copy to another card, reformat, check files, virus, Fat32 but nothing helps!
connected thru OTG, it's possible to write file but impractical, I hope next update or utility would be avaible.
If I understand, it's related to the Knox security?
I didn't tested Knox, it's not free am I right?
I have the Developers Edition of S5 and I successfully flashed recovery TWRP and root last night. I tried backing up apps to ext sd card in Titanium Backup but it keeps saying insufficent storage available error. However i can install play store apps without problems. I have over 5GB of data free. And my sd cards wont show via usb over computer on Mac. The option is grey out and android transfer doesnt work displaying an error message to restart device but it doesnt work either. USB debugging is enabled. I installed and uninstalled kies3 for Mac which also wont work. Any suggestions on these problems that can fix them? I'm pretty frusterated at the moment. I didnt have this problem with my HTC Rezound before.

1) you need to have sdcard access via root to write to it. Blame kitkat. Use this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.sdfix
2) I can all but guarantee your backup exceeds your available 5gbs free, that's why it's failing. Backup one or two apps and I bet they go through.

Hi
I've asked this elsewhere on the forum but posting it here too in case it's specific to the Note 4.
I'm having a weird problem with my Galaxy Note 4.
When it boots up, regardless of what type of screen lock I have (pattern, fingerprint etc) it boots to the homescreen and stays there for several seconds before the lock screen appears, so the phone is essentially completely unlocked for several seconds - you can do anything - open apps etc.
I phoned Samsung and they said there must be a bug in the firmware, and needed the phone sent back to them to reflash it. I didn;t want to do that, so instead I reinstalled the firmware using Samsung Kies.
The problem still remained.
However, I've now worked out it only does this with a certain microSD card in the phone. If that specific card isn't in it, it boots straight to the lock screen as it should do.
Obviously I can avoid using that particular card, but that doesn't address why or how it got like that in the first place.
Does anyone have any ideas? Is it worth reflashing a ROM from Sammobile using Odin instead of Kies/
Any advice much appreciated.
Thank you

It maybe because you moved some apps to the SD card? Or maybe the phone is trying to load up some files which are located on the SD card such ringtones or it may just be the media scanner taking a long while to scan your SDcard as it may have slow read/write speeds.
You could try reformatting the SD Card and/or try factory resetting your phone, please make a back-up of your files before attempting to do so.
If the issue still persists with that single SD-Card then you might want to stop using it.

Thanks for the reply.
I've narrowed the problem down to the SD card, not my phone. I've tried it in 2 different phones (a Note 3 and an S4) and with both phones, as soon as it boots up, the status bar appears allowing you to pull it down and access settings and notifications, without ever having to unlock the phone.
Surely there should be no way that a phone should be able to open itself up like that, just by having an SD card put onto it? I could format the SD card but I'd like to work out what's going on!
