http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...ns-pushing-jelly-bean-to-the-iconia-tab-a700/ A700 got jelly bean OTA already...can we port this to our A500? hehehehe
A700 is a Tegra3 based device. It also has newer GPU, so the gfx drivers are not compatible. I don't think there are any benefits in trying to port it. It is better to use CM10 preview which is probably more stable now than this port would ever be .
I can't post the link, but the TO JB rom is very stable, and has things working that the CM10 preview doesn't. Most people here don't know about it because you can't post the link to it here for various reasons.
I'm not telling you to go install this, I'm just saying its very possible to build JB from the ground up for this device which works a lot better than porting, ports are relatively limited.
So we have ICS which runs on 3.0.8 and previously ran on 2.6.35, also I've seen a lot of devices running ICS on 2.6.32 kernel. So my questions are:
How to know what changes must be done in kernel to make it compatible with higher versions of android? (for example 4.2.2 with .32 kernel)
How to know whether kernel modules (drivers) are compatible with higher versions of android or not?
Why don't we still have a JB port if it's all is possible?.. Just joking.
Thanks in advance!
P.S.: Excuse me if I name anything wrong or if I'm saying anything wrong -- I'm not a developer, I'm trying to learn.
would like to know that too, dunno why there is just one developer working on wifi drivers for jelly bean huawei x5...

Because there is an exhaustion of developers for the u8800? I'm going to release something soon as well, been playing with AOSP Gingerbread tree for a few weeks now.
There aren't really _many_ changes required to upgrade the kernel, you most likely just need to apply the upstream kernel patches for it. It will surely cause problems, but most of them shouldn't be too hard to fix if you have some programming knowledge. I might look at this later myself.
I think we dont have a proper port of JB just because there is a lack of real developers. People seem to be trying to port roms from Honor/Desire, but they will never be as functional as roms built from the real device tree. I think Blefish is the only one working on a real rom.
I have install BBM for Android, but I can't run it, it always FC. I using Paranoid Rom based on CM9 nighty 2nd. Anyone have successfully run BBM on Galaxy Y?
I m downloading from a mirror since in play store its incompatible Will reply soon.
Edit: Tried it problem parsing package. As it is only compatible with armv7. And the server also has a long waiting list.

Well i am trying to port app on 2.3.3+ but libraries used are very complicated. Got some succes now it dont shows me parsing error, it installs coorrectly, but then it FC without even opening app, need some help from senior developers to port on 2.3
ps :- i am using evolution x3(2.3.6 based rom)
Why not same like w.a etc?for arm 7 only?joke of the year...
Hi.

I would like to port the i9505 CM 10.2 version to the new i9506 (S4 LTE+A)
But someone told me that i should use the Nexus 5 build of CM because it have the same processor (Snapdragon 800)
Is that the right thing to do ?

if it is exactly the same then it ok i didnt checked right now....the other things you have to port from i9505
Sent from my GT-I9506 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You dont port open source roms, you need to make a new device spec and maybe just copy some parts (the cpu hardware part) from nexus 5 into it and then compile it. but I think its better to look at the device spec of the note 3 since thats also a snapdragon800. and better samsung as vendor than LG obviously.
the rom itself doesn't support snapdragon 800 or not, it's mainly bionic that supports cortex a15, a9, which is the arch of the snapdragon 800.
the source for the kernel can be found at samsungs site. and this is where the actuall code is for the cpu and stuff.
but you will not get it working by copying files from the nexus 5 believe me. you need to compile it

Any help with porting to I9506 is much appreciated. So thanks!
port from Note3 CM should be more reasonable coz its a samsung.
I dont make roms, dont blame me if i am wrong
Hi,
I have the SM-i900 Version with the snapdagon s801 x Quad Core, Qualcomm_LTE.
Guys, Screen Mirroring does NOT work when you are in Custom Status, this happened to be the same story when I googled and found S4 users had the same issue, was the same post after post after post of people stating the same thing "I get an error or hardware device error when screen mirror starts" or "It will start for 4 seconds then stop"
I have tried Triangle away, this did nothing.Kernel makers, Devs, wizards. Can you guys whip up something for this, it has nothing to do with Knox I don't care about knox. The problem is when you flash custom kernel it will give your phone custom status. Offcourse I can get official status if I flash the original kernel, but then whats the point of having an android if you cant tweak it. I mean Its kind of ridiculous not being able to run one of the BEST features of future tech "Screen Mirror" This has SO MANY uses its crazy not to be able to use it.
Can anyone direct me or maybe help find a way, this is for all of u, one day when you need to use it you will be asking Same question if you love tweaking your rom, you would not want to flash everything back to stock just so you can use that feature.
Ok Guys I found something -
So I grabbed the S800 Version as it was the closest to the S5 S801 I replaced the the file, First it reboot when I started Screen mirroring, then I tried it again and guess what? This time it actually worked and it mirrored my device onto the TV and then I see FC >> Allshare cast S/W Update
This is the update that is in the playstore, which gets updated automatically.
Anyway I can tell it doesnt work 100% so I removed it again.
I think we are very close to solving this problem, If we can somehow port this file to a S801 Version then I bet you Screen mirror will work.
Here is the File fix which was created for the S4 - I9506 S800 ---- http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...7&d=1409380066 From the same link I pasted below
I wonder if this can be ported to the S5 I dont think it should be that hard with the right tools.
Here is the S5 S805 Version https://www.dropbox.com/s/bpqtkskqcc...ht_wfd.so?dl=0
It will be greatly appreciated if someone was able to do it.
What I found out it is all about HDCP. and turning it off, I think its the same thing as Enforcing Selinux , If I was able to decompile a *.SO file in Windows I think I may have chance to do this myself.
