It works for turning the phone on. For turning it off, you have to double-tap the notification bar.

You can assign double tap gesture to screen off app from Play Store. Assuming you have gestures in Apex. I'm using Nova Prime.

What is the app called? Apex has double tap gestures but no option for screen off.

I'm using this one because it doesn't mess with lock timeout. Assign shortcut to double tap. Chose second (lower) shortcut. Of course, first step is to enable app. Enjoy

Just got my Nexus 7 today and it's awesome, except for the home screen not rotating? Do you think Google will release an update to fix it or will we have to rely on a third party app?

Third party app is the best way to go.
Download Rotation Locker its free if you want Landscape
Use Nova Launcher. Not only is it awesome, but it does home screen rotation.

Yes, it is great.
Auto-rotate wasn't enabled to begin with so I had to go to Nova Settings--Look and feel--Screen Orientation and select it (just pointing it out to save people a few seconds )
Also, the My Library widget is still usable (I'm not familiar with ICS/JB launchers, so maybe other launchers support it as well?).

I want to be able to have the launcher switch orientation based on how holding it. Any apps for that?

need a different launcher...nova or apex are good substitutes
Its kinda crazy that the homescreen does not rotate. Oh well, at least plenty of options to fix that with.

Didn't work for me on the N7.
Rotation locker works great. allows any setup you want based on how you holding it.
I'm a fan of Nova Launcher and that is what I'm using to rotate the home screen.

But you have to change the settings when you change how you are holding it, right?

No you don't have to. Just select the Forced Auto option and it rotates everything just fine. The only down side is it doesn't rotate lock screen.

Hmmph, that did not seem to work for me when I tested it last night.
I used the widget to select "auto" - is there another way to do it?
ETA: ahhhh... a long press did the trick, not a short press. Thanks!
Hello you guys,
I was wondering if I am the only one where knock-off doesn't work in Nova Launcher? Knock-on works great though.
Should I contact the Nova devs or is here anyone who knows them by chance?
It does when you tap status bar, top bar.
Sent from my LG-D803 using Tapatalk 4
Knock off only works with the stock launcher. You need to setup the double tap gesture in Nova to either launch a Tasker task, or the screen off app.
Thank you guys, that helped a lot!
Or use this app and a gesture in Nova to be able to "Knock Off" anywhere on the screen.

That's the exact one I just had installed and used, works flawlessly! Thanks!
I've seen a few people mention reluctance moving onto a 3rd party launcher because you lose the ability to turn off your screen by double tapping but there is a way you can do this with Nova and or other third party launchers with gesture controls.
1) Download a free app called Screen Off from Google Play and set it up
2) Set your Double Tap setting to launch Screen Off
Your screen will now turn off just as if you were using the LG launcher.
Alternatively, and with no need for a third party app, just double tap the status (notifications) bar

Or also at the navigation bar with tweaksbox.
Nova launcher comes with gestures where you can set to double tap anywhere to screen off.

Actually it doesn't (unless you're rooted maybe?)
Gestures that you can setup in native Nova do not include screen off.

Correct.....
The only way to do this is with a third-party app which I explained to everyone (thank you by the way for your thanks) in a different topic here.
For me, I just have xposed>gravity box
and go to nova sett.>gestures(need prime)>double-tap>shortcuts>gravity box>screen off.
DONE.

Where is "actions"? I only see Nova, Apps, Shortcuts. And I have Prime.

I have not been able to get the double tap gesture in nova to work at all. I've tried setting it to multiple different actions or apps, and no matter how fast or slow I double tap nothing happens. All other gestures work fine. For the time being I've settled with double swiping down to activate Screen Off.
Has anyone else had this problem with their G3 and Nova?

Look at my post above (post 6 in this topic) and click on the link I give.
This will take you to the topic where I mention what app to install and what actions you need to carry out in order to make it work.
Works fine for me. So far I have never pressed the power button on my G3.
Action Launcher Pro supports Double Tap to lock screen feature.
The problem I am facing with nova, apex...etc that I have exchange security enabled by my employer, all the guesters and third party apps that i tried is locking the phone with the Pin not just shutting the screen, the double tab on the stock launcher shuts the screen but does not lock the phone.
Did anyone find a work around using third party launcher or app ?
Thanks

Sorry Shortcuts
KK Launcher is pretty comparable to Nova and Apex, and it has native support built into it to double-tap your screen to turn the screen off. I've been using this launcher with my Nexus 5 for a while now and have been quite happy with it (compared to Nova). (I'm supposed to get my G3 later today, so I can't speak as to how KK Launcher performs on it yet).

That's exactly why I use the Touchdown app for my exchange mail. Don't have to worry about the exchange security requirement taking over my darn phone...

I believe the latest beta version of G3 TweaksBox has a setting to get around the security features when using Exchange. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2792242
Thanks a million, its working like charm, now i can use whatever launcher.
I have Nova as well and works fine just double tapping the status bar. Seemingly works better than LG'S...
Seams like there are a lot of different ways that everyone has to do this.
For me, I have been using Tasker to get double tap off with Nova Launcher gestures since the G2. Tasker is such a great app with about a million uses, I highly recommend everyone check it out. I have it setup to auto connect to different wifi's depending on my location, adjust screen brightness/ringer volumes depending on the time of day, and many others.
Action launcher is the best
Anyone else having problems with KnockON not working? I have it enabled but tapping on the phone isn't turning phone off.
Using the stock launcher?
No issues here. I'm using Nova. Not sure that launcher matters though...

Do you have nova setting an administrator account? Nobody else has been able to get knock off in nova to work without either hitting the status bar or setting an administrator account which overrides the fingerprint sensor.
To turn the screen off using the KnockOn feature, I double tap the status bar. (using Nova launcher)

I knock the status bar. I thought that's how it works. But I never even tried the stock launch so maybe it works everywhere.

Ok thats why I asked if he's using the stock launcher. In that one you can knock anywhere.
Go to Settings > Display and scroll down to make sure the Knock On feature toggle is turned on.
Good luck!

Thanks but I have that turned on and I'm using Nova Launcher.
I use Nova Launcher as well and have had no problems with either knocking on or off. You probably already know this, but just in case....
There is also a setting in Nova Launcher that assigns what Nova does when you double tap. It's in Nova Settings > Gestures & Inputs. Mine is set to "screen lock" when I double tap. Good luck!

Salute... That worked.
I have installed Nova on my LG G6 and looks that everything is ok except one thing: there is no possibility to add stock calendar widget because it's not listed on widgets list. Can anybody confirm that?

Yes, and it also removes the stock weather widget which I happen to like. I also noticed that that since gestures like double tapping the screen to turn it off are a premium feature it breaks that stock LG function and you can't enable it unless you buy the premium version of Nova. I as planning on buying it anyway to support the developer but that's kind of lame.

Even then the double tap feature isn't the same to shut off phone. Does something to permissions and I forget the warning. I just double tap the notification bar which taps off the screen just the same, plus that works from any application, not just the home screen.
