petition fix youtube app lag - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The new Youtube App has a serious bug which annoys the whole world.
If u are on landscape and press screen theres a annyoing lag , its also happens if u make the video louder. Thats why I hate android poor coded apps and always lags and google still hasnt fixed it after 1 month.
Happwns on Galaxy s3, nexus 4 , galaxy ace
Fix it

my problem with the youtube app is that after the last update the slide menu on the left shows once in a 100 times. i keep getting this crap

Well since V5 the app sucks. For me when tapping on the icon the app is like: "hey, he wanted to start the app...uuhhhm...let's wait a second...well ok let's start"

I never experience these

Go the Android page on G+ and you'll see how many people have the problem i posted. Sometimes it works, but most of the times shows this error, go figure...
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

I don't have this issue on either my Android or family's iPhone.
You can side load an older YouTube version and not update it. Personally I use YouTube HTML5 on the browser.
I think you're supposed to post this on change.org if you want a petition, not here, just saying.

what roms/kernels are you guys using? the app works perfectly here, in landscape and portrait. and theres no lag, when starting the app or when using the app. im in the us, and am using lte. maybe some of the lag being reported is under slower data connections?

there is no lag, none but OP here is reporting lag. the problem being reported by most of the people on G+ android community page is the problem with the slide menu. seems like most of us who have that problem are outside the US , so maybe it is location-related somehow..
it happens on both wifi/mobile data , so it's not a connection thing.

There is a lag if u go to landscape and presss the screen, the video itself isnt lagging

I can't even watch my YouTube app on my WiFi network =[ keeps saying server error
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

Anyone know a fix? Only happens when on WiFi.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

I think the OP means the lag you get when a video is playing in landscape mode and then touch the screen for once to bring up the video player controls.
The screen will hang for like .1 seconds, which i do happen to experience aswell. It does not bother me too much tho, but it would be good if it gets fixed.

[Q] Turn off capacitive button lights?

Is there any way to turn off the capacitive button lights through a mod or app? It's really annoying when using the phone at night. The app "screen filter" is great for dimming the screen but the buttons look really bright at night.
I'm pretty sure the answer is no.

+1, atleast turn them down. I use screen filter too and those lights are really bright.

Is it something in the kernel that needs to be modified? Not that I can do it but I'm just wondering.
In Froyo, they were tied to the keyboard timeout setting, so I could set it for 6 seconds and they'd turn off quickly. Not they stay on if the screen is on. Gotta find a mod to fix that...
When I had my moment most custom kernels came with a version with them on and one with them off. So it is possible

I saw this when I tried CM7 1022 also. Any alarm clock app in night mode had this problem, I tried gentle alarm clock and alarm clock plus.

I found this. (Is that what you were talking about?) The description says it is for keeping the buttons ON. I'll check out what options it has.
As expected, this app does the opposite. But in the thread for it, there are some options, such as a file you can create, that has other affects on the buttons.

Camera trick (voice commands)

I stumbled upon this and think it's very useful using the camera. Taking self pics with the rear shooter is cumbersome sometimes and always mis-tap the shutter button.
Using voice commands to shoot is really neat. Shame Samsung tucks these neat features away and don't advertise them.

OK. I've never tried the included music player, I use Poweramp.
I can't find the music player in the App drawer. I'm stock Tmo. I've disabled a few apps. Can see the music player in the settings>App. Manage >all, and it's not disabled.
I can put the the widget on the home screen but it didn't seem to respond to next or pause. I've checked all boxes and the camera works with voice (which is very cool).
Is the Music Player an App as opposed to the widget? Was I just not doing it right?
it doesnt seem to work for me. So basically when my phone alarms i just yell out stop? Or is there any other thing i need to do?

LOCKSCREEN BUG
1. It seems the lockscreen animation when you power the phone on(the splash that surrounds the padlock), seems to stop working. It used to appear after about 5 seconds again. It does appear when pressing the screen.

If your not running pure stock chances most "bugs" are from mods/themes/custom Roms. Its hard to call that app drawer mess up top a bug while at the same time its obvious from the screen shot some mods have been made.
There's a small bug on the lockscreen where the splash animation stops working. Happened to me on stock as well. I sent OP a PM about it, maybe one of you guys can verify? My friend has a stock JB NS and his doesn't do it anymore either.
Honestly, I have yet to notice any bugs on ota. Jb is amazing in my experience.

When pressing power button to wake, sometimes homescreen shows up before lockscreen.
To anyone having problems, I would recommend wiping and reflashing. If you updated straight from the ota that was pushed to your device and you're having problems, try downloading the stock .zip, wiping and then flashing. Seeing as I have no problems at all and am thoroughly enjoying my jellybean.

I personally wouldn't really classify that as a bug. If you immediately try to wake the phone shortly after turning the screen off, it'll do this. My G2 does it. The phone hasn't fully gone into deep sleep. Did the same thing in ICS too.

Annoying pop up alerts

I've been getting these ever since I updated to 4.3 I believe... Its not a popup that's in the notification shade, rather one that pops right in the middle of the screen, and it shows an advertisement for an app saying download free from play store (I think it had advertised a free game "paradise island") and then it tries to say why it recommended that app by showing other downloads i made off the play store.
Are these normal/from the play store or are they from a spammy app? Please help, thanks!
