Hello Everyone,
I picked up a 8GB MotoActv on Ebay. It was flashed to stock rom and I was attempting to setup the device from a factory reset. The MotoUSB software and manger launched with no problems the device updated to the current version. I find myself unable to login with a previous Moto Login that is registered to my email with moto. I can get through on the main portal and added my RAZR Maxx and the MotoActv. However any logon attempts to MotoActv.com fail with (Login issues) and a hyperlink points to the USB setup method which also fails to with a Error 20. Attempts from the motoActv device on wifi to sign in also fail with a Error 20. Moto Support indicates this is do to the Software not able to to communicate to the motoactv servers. The person I purchased it from indicated he purchased it with the intent of using it for custom roms. I am wondering if he borked something when tinkering with it. The device works in all aspects with exception to logon verification to motoactv.com which is the primary reason I purchased it. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Hi I am a the guy who sold him the Motoactv. I am rather stumped about this error as well. I have put roms on it as he has said. Specifically I used DPRom and ClearDroid roms
with no issues. I haven't done anything crazy beyond that. Prior to shipping I hooked it up to the most recent version of ClearD's Motoactv root tool ( 2.01) and returned it to stock,no root. And as for my methods of rooting and flashing, its been pretty much by the book via motoactv wikispaces If this cant be resolved I have no problem with return/refund. I want to try to help in this situation.

If it was only returned to stock, it may just need updated through motocast. Chances are, it's using the latest bootloader with an old system image.

I still see Sense 4 and Cell as watch faces. Which indicates it still has some old files from the root process.
What is the best way to restore to total stock? Use your tool ClearD? I did use the moto software to update to current version.
Bootloader 03.14 is what comes up in FastBoot.

Downloaded the MotoActv Tool and used "Return to Stock" then upgraded to the current Software version M8 I believe. Ran Motocast Setup again and still getting the attached error.
I have tried the email/password for Moto ID and Google account associated with it. Still get Error 20 when trying to use wifi on the device to logon to MotoActv id.
The clock faces are on the SD card, not in the rom itself, so that's fine that they're there. Is yours an 8gb or 16gb version?
Sent using XDA-funded carrier pigeons
I'm pretty sure the problem is not on your side. I flash my motoactv a lot, and some days it just refuses to login. Keep trying.

I am wondering if since the device was preowed. That it is still associated with the previous owners MotoACTV ID and therefore I can't register it to mine.

Slappymchappy can you log into your motorola portal profile and disassociate the MotoActive from your account? Maybe that's why it can't register it to my motoactv account. The device is already registered.

Okay I have gotten online and tried to disassociate the Motoactv from my motocast/Motoblur
account. I haven't had luck with the portal. I will call customer service and see where that goes.

UPDATE 2
I contacted Motorola in regards to deactivating the motoactv and they said if the device was factory reset it should have no problem
linking to your account. Also when I went to my device portal on my account, it didn't show the motoactv.
What would be the next step for me to do?

The only thing that makes sense is some sort of server error on my id. I am going to contact Motorola again to see if I can get another opinion on the issue.
My Droid Razr Maxx can't login on the motoactv app either. So that's telling me it's there site. But that might be because it can't connect to the MotoACTV however.

Same Error here. Factory reset and reflash of the ROM did not help.
Also the login to the MotoActv-webside is not working anymore ("Login issues? Start here"). The Link "https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_answer_detail/a_id/83694/p/8199%2C8200") does not help, so there is no possibility to download and save my workouts... :crying:
I went for a run last night, got home, allowed it to sync as per usual and then decided to return my MotoActv to stock because of some other minor issues and since then I am also unable to sign in with my MotoCast ID.
I fear MotoActv may have just turned off the ability considering the MotoActv has been a discontinued item for so long!
I really hope this is not the case as I am not aware of another standalone watch like the MotoActv that pretty much has everything I need (onboard memory, GPS, bluetooth, ANT+)...

I finally did it. Didn't have to unlock, rollback the firmware, ADB, or anything too drastic. So happy.
I used this method here.

*My biggest hurdle was getting the drivers installed before using that method. Then I figured out if you use the Asus Pad PC Suite it installs the drivers. Can download it here if you're as incompetent as me (Under Utilities). Exit out Asus Sync in your system tray before attempting the method above. And I'm probably not the guy to ask for any help if you got problems or questions.

I installed OTA RootKeeper afterwards.
Thanks XDA. Thanks sparkym3.

This works indeed, but you must stop ASUS sync if it's running. If you don't, the version of ADB packaged with ASUS Sync is different from the one in the zip file and you'll get a whole lot of lines with "adb server is out of date, daemon started successfully" which mess with the script.
Once I stopped the Sync thing from systray and verified in task manager, the script ran like a charm.
So, another TF300 with .29 WW rooted, thanks to the people involved in making this possible
all this confused me way too much but luckily for me i had help (well i say help he did it all via teamviewer lol) from thing o doom he is a star

just confirming, even thought the method is in the transformer prime section, it works for the TF300T?

May not be the issue, but it's happened to me several times rooting & ROMing phones - plug the cable into a rear USB port that's on the motherboard. The USB ports on the front of the case don't always work for some reason. The front of my case has 6 ports and I can only get reliable phone connections on 2 of them. Down right squirrely!
ID10T Error on My Part

Tab boots to "welcome" screen but does not register touches, leaving me unable to move forward. Ready for the long story?
I am helping a friend who bought this tab from a third party. When he received it, the previous owner stated that they did a factory reset back to Honeycomb but he noticed that it did in fact still have ICS on it. Probably OTA'd when the previous owner did the reset. Tab worked fine for about two weeks until one day he came home and the lockscreen would not register touches. That's where I come in.
I did the "erase, wipe" (booting while switching the screen rotation back and forth.) Tab wiped and brought me to the "Welcome" screen where you select country and language and still does not register touches. I have tried blackthund3r's flash and manager tools, as well as multiple guides to recover from what I have seen referred to as "flu." The main problem I have is that I cannot get a valid UID. Using USBDeview gives me an 11 digit serial but it returns as invalid when plugged into DotNetDetector and I am unable to use SDB because the non working touchscreen has left me unable to enable USB debugging.
Any suggestions, help, advice, on things I can try? I am really stumped and would like to help my friend/conquer this problem. Thanks for anyone who has taken the time to read this/offer help.

Get ready for some Ubuntu... Here is the guide that will get you a valid sbk. My nephew just brought his tab to me after forgetting his password. So I was in the same boat as far as UID/SBK. This is gonna take a while so put some time aside.

As sure as I am reading yoru reply the damn thing just started working. I was able to get to USB debugging and via ADB I was able to pull the UID; which was the same as the one I got from USBDeview btw. Still an 11 digit code. The only thing I can guess is that it has a faulty touchscreen, or maybe the battery was just too low to register touches? Thanks for your reply though. Always nice to be able to rely on the folks at XDA.
That is too cool. The other way is a learning experience to be sure. Enjoy.

I have now realized that the touchscreen does work but is very glitchy and have found that lots of people have had problems with the OTA ICS update. Any suggestions on a good custom ROM for this tab? It isn't mine so I have not been following this section. Would like something close to stock ICS but with fixes that resolve the problems associated with OTA.

First check in Settings>About Tablet>Build Version - this will tell you what rom you are currently running -
Then, if you can, download and install Acer Recovery Installer
This tells you what bootloader and recovery is installed.
The glitches you speak of and the 11 digit uid point to an ICS Rom and unpatched HC bootloader - updating to the new BL often fixes these weird glitches BUT if you flash a custom rom as well, you'll be running sweet!!!
If you wanna stay close to Stock then I'd recommend ezterrys one here comes pre-rooted and busy box installed - and if you want to you can install his Over clocked kernel too.... plus its well maintained and supported
there are many tools and guides around to help you...the ones in my sig for instance the cpuid one has a lot of general info in it too re bootloaders, sbk and flash tools.
If you have any q just ask, there's always someone round willing to help...good luck!!
If you are having issues rooting your kindle with guides online the reason behind it is that you are using an outdated version of "Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v*" Currently most of the guides all have you downloading and using Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v17. You want to use a version of Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v version 21 or above. I did mine with version 21 and my gf's with version 28. I just wanted to make sure that it would work with a latest i could find.
Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v21 can be found with the link provided below. You can also google other Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v and try them out until you get your kindle rooted.
apparently i can't link outside

just copy it and paste it then backspace on the spaces to make it a usable url

hi, thanks for the above.
as a total noob to this, i sppent most of thursday researching how to do this, then carried it out eventually successfully too, only to wanke up on friday morning to see my device had updated to 7.3.1.
ive now downloaded binary v28, root with restore - how do i use this version? i used this guide -

to carry out my rooting, so i now need to know how to do it using the v28 version, and if there is any differences to the process linked above.
also, i downloaded droidwall, and thought i had blocked the updating app, but it obviously hadnt. then i noticed at the top it said "firewall disabled" how do i enable this?
and finally, how do i get to change the launcher / user interface/ how can i change this to a one similar to the galaxy tab or something else like this?
yes, i am a noob, and all help is welcome guys. many thanks in advance.

Yeah the only difference is that you are using an upgraded version of program they have so instead of using v17 use newer version. I think once you install the new google play store all you have to do is find GO Launcher in the market place.

Download DroidWall from the googplaystore, that app disables updates. I don't know much about golauncher. If you follow the guide and have googleplaystore then you should be able to download everything.
I have confirmed that Bin4ry (I used v26) method works fine for both 7.3.0 and the new 7.3.1 update that is just rolling out. Here are some instructions that hopefully is clear for everyone (link). Obviously the main credit goes to the root method.

Problems with attempting to root on 7.3.1
Hello-
I have used the "Root with Restore by Bin4ry_v29" to no avail and I am extremely perplexed as to whats going wrong. I have followed all the instructions outlined and during the process I do see multiple instances within the application saying "permissions denied" yet it continues as if everything is ok. Well, once it says everything is finished and I have rebooted the device multiple times, its EXTREMELY sluggish and borderline unresponsive. It also doesn't have root access as Superuser isn't on the device. So I am asking for any advice/guidance anyone can provide that maybe knows whats up or has had this happen and knows what the problem is.
Please help!
ps: Not new to rooting either as I have rooted all the android phones I have ever had with no problems but I know the Kindle is a different beast.
Thanks!
I'm on my phone so I can't post the link but if you search you'll find it, but I just rooted a new KFHD four days ago by using prokenexus how to root for noon guide. I followed it from start to finish and was completely successful. Took a total of about 45 minutes. He has two ways to root in his thread, automated and manual. I always like doing manual so I can see everything that is going on. But it worked like a charm. So might want to give that a look.

Super slow after boot solved!
Ok even though this guide stated that if you are on version 7.2.3, you don't need to run rootqemu. Bat method, that was not true in my case. After running through the runme phase in cmnd prompt, choosing normal root, and letting the process finish and reboot, my device was ridiculously slow, and not rooted might I add. Here's the trick though, immediately after that process finishes, you need to run the Rootqemu method also. But when you try to run Rootqemu.bat by right clicking and running as administrator, it doesn't recognize the device. What I had to do was left click on ONLY the folder that contained the Rootqemu files, and while only that folder is highlighted, you hold down the shift key and right click on the folder. Then you are going to click on "run command prompt here". Once the command prompt opens, you are going to type Rootqemu.bat and press enter. Then you can press 1 to root, let the program run through its few stages, and after it reboots several times and finishes it's process, voila no more lag, and you should be finally rooted. Also after that process, download a program called Kindlefree. It's an absolutely amazing, and simple way to install all the essential Google apps "aka" Gapps to your rooted Kindle fire hd. I hope this helps everyone like it did me!

For future referencef any further visitors
Hello fellow users and visitors. I've been following this site for a while now, yes I'm considered a "noob" here but I have my experiences well beyond the level of a "noob." This is my first post, and I indeed have a KF HD 7. Since there is so much confusion as far as CLEAR NEWBIES INSTRUCTIONS, I've decided to give everyone the guide I used to root my Kindle, which was derived from a guide here at XDA itself. You can find it here at
androidcowboy (DOT) com /2013/04/root-kindle-fire-hd-7-3-0-firmware/
This DOES indeed work for 7.3.1 as mine was, it took me two tries. But heed my warning, rooting this beauty MAY cause some issues as it has to mine such as randomly shutting off, battery showing up as 0% on some occasions when it is turned on, and sometimes refusing to charge more frequently than it used to. Those issues eventually happen without root, some people have these problems the first week of having a fresh new KFHD7, and I have friends with the same Kindle, rooted, and theirs do not present same issue, so I guess some do some don't.
Good luck and happy rooting. Now you can revive Google Play!
Another confirmation for 7.3.1. I followed Android Cowboy's procedures for both rooting and installing Google Play. Very easy. Thanks Cowboy!

If you have issues rooting, please go to my thread in my signature. I addressed the issue of rooting on 7.3.1, and have written quick explanation for rooting with Bin4ry's method. The guide goes on to help you flash a custom ROM, should you so desire to get rid of that nasty Amazon OS interface.
Hi all,
Thinking about this phone, what is bootloader like, unlockable? Can fastboot be accessed?
Looked all over for info, most Chinese forums are bashing the phone, but the reason is not clear to me (seems mostly joking that it is just a knock off of the Nexus they produced). Chinese is not my first language, that is probably most of the problem.
I am interested in getting some development going on here, but I need to know if it is worth the trouble even trying. Huawei does release source, but it is really not easy to find. Also, source for this phone seems to not be released yet. If you google "huawei open source" you get some sources, but not for this device. If anyone can point me in a better direction I would appreciate it.
I followed step 1 of this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=68280798 to get my bootloader unlock code.
I haven't been able to find a version of TWRP for this phone yet and KingoRoot hasn't been able to achieve root either ?
Sent from my HUAWEI MLA-L03 using Tapatalk
You might try this for root: http://www.huaweishuaji.com/112.html
Supports many other Huawei devices, but I cannot guarantee as I have never used it, so use at your own risk. There are also some Chinese guides for unbricking out there. It involves putting the stock image onto the external SD card and running a flash from the phone. Seems it would be fairly easy to build TWRP for the the device if there was a little more info about it, such as partitions. Unfortunately, I do not have the device and need to upgrade my PC before I can start building anything again.
Bored today, so been digging. Seems it would be fairly easy to port the zenfone 3 twrp over, as the specs are similar.
I can't try to build as I need to upgrade, and don't have the phone to test anyway.
Here is the git, looks like only a few changes to make: https://github.com/shakalaca/android_device_asus_ze520kl
Here is a link with how to flash the zenfone: http://www.asus-zenfone.com/2016/10/how-to-root-asus-zenfone-3-ze520kl-and.html
If it was me I would give it a go booting the z017d one, but make sure you "fastboot boot filename.img" and not flash. I would take the risk, but not saying anyone else should.
Not going to have anything to build with until around Christmas, so hopefully someone can give it a go building for the phone. I might get the phone around Christmas too, lets see how development goes.
can anyone try to load the twrp from p9 lite? The hardware specs are just as much the same
"fastboot boot recovery recovery_twrp.img"
maybe it works...
It's a no go booting either of those recoveries. Each flash while successful, ends in a boot loop.
I also don't have the time right now to dedicate to build TWRP from source.

I followed step 1 of this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=68280798 to get my bootloader unlock code.
I haven't been able to find a version of TWRP for this phone yet and KingoRoot hasn't been able to achieve root either

Mine was bricked after trying the KingoRoot. Any chance I can unbrick it somehow?
P/S: Yes I am an idjit because I didn't make any kind of backup. :crying::crying:
Seems the Huawei unlock code generator is down. I entered my phones data, but the unlock code never appears. I only get an error message when I enter wrong data (i.e., CAN-L11 instead of HUAWEI CAN-L11), so seems the data is validated. When did you create your code, @wangdaning?
Regards,
sebastian
Don't have the phone, I think an earlier poster did get an unlock. I was speculating about what might be possible.

Sorry, my fault. thisisMZ1 was the lucky guy with the unlock code.
@thisisMZ1: did you try to boot the image without flashing it first? Don´t know if that makes a difference, but one never knows.
For the unlock code, I got an unhelpful reply from the support team ("please use the form provided on..."). My replies on this haven´t been answered yet, so I´m waiting... Will keep you updated.

Hi again,
I managed to unlock the bootloader: I created the Huawei ID on the wron (Asian) website. I created a new ID via the German website and was able to use the website for unlocking code with the new ID.

Sebastian

I tried both, booting and flashing, neither worked.

Wonder if it is only for the nova and not the nova plus. I did not make it and have neither phone to test, just passing it along. Unfortunately, they seem to have not used github.
Does anyone have a link to the factory recovery.img?
I flashed the Recovery to the Nova (not the plus) and I got exactly the same error. If I try to flash the superSU, I got a error that it couldnt Mount data and after a Reboot the root doesnt work.
I guess their could be several variants of the phone, which does not bod well for hopes of development.
Something new?
The chinese recovery boots but has problems to mount the partitions.... Its for the CAN-L01 and on my CAN-L11 is a different fstab. I have not the skills to compile a working one.
Hi everyone! Before posting this, I have spent the whole day reading and trying things out with no success.
My phone is a Motorola XT907 with system number 183.46.15.XT907.Verizon.en.US
Android version 4.4.2
Compilation number is KDA20.62.15.1
I'm not entirely sure if this information has changed after the issue started happening, because in the meantime I tried to flash stock firmware on my device.
I have tried RSD Lite V6.1.5/4 with these stock ROMs:
a) VZW_XT907_4.4.2-KDA20.62-15.1_CFC_1FF.xml
b) VZW_XT907_4.4.2-KDA20.62-15.1_1FF.xml
The process seems to go through fine, no error message, but when the device automatically reboots, I'm back at the same problem.
What I see is: I can unlock the phone, and then get messages one after the other advising that the process or application has stopped. I hit "accept" and they just keep on coming back. I was able to, for example, open properties and click around, between these messages... but I was not able to accomplish anything.
Do you have any idea on how to fix this? I don't really care about rooting or unlocking the bootloader (from what I read, I can't do it given the version that I have) anyway... I just want to get it back working.
I'm willing to try anything and everything that comes to mind. I have a PC and Mac available to test stuff out.
Thanks so much!!!

there is a very likely chance that there is no fixing
did you try a factory reset in recovery?
