Hi,
I have a local *.html file with all my favorites and I would like to add it as my homepage using the stock browser .
With my note 2, I had to fill in the following URL : "file///sdcard/myfile.html"
I have tried the same with my note 3 and it doesn't work. I have tried to remove a"/" in the URL or changing "Sdcard" in "Storage"
but no results.
Any idea please how to add a local URL in the stock browser?
Thank you for help.
Daniel

Ok so seems I've seen this asked in a few differnt theards so I fig I would just post up info once.
For uploads, yes its disabled, but there is a work around. Go to linda file mgr. Long press the file u want, select send to, then gmail (email doesn't work for some reason, has to be gmail). It will automatically bring u to a new email with the file attached ready to send. I've tested this with all types of files, test up to 7mb so far.
Now to get uploads working on websites...
Thanks, that helped a bunch. Good luck getting upload to work =D
Thank you so much for this!!!!!! I really needed it couple of days ago... I know now!
Ok so I have an update on my tests, but first let me clear up some things I've read in here.
Just installing linda file mgr will enable Downloading of any file type, but uploads though browser are disabled. Thats why i came up with this method.
So test results:
Yes you can Upload .zip files. I sent a few small ones to my other email. You can pretty much send Any file type.
Yes there is a file size limit. Only bigger files I had on my phone was .mp4 and 1 update.zip(46mb). The size limit is around 20 mb. I sent several up too and including a 19.46mb.mp4 and all went though.I then sent a 24mb.mp4 and would not go though. It just hangs in outbox. If after 30 mins (or whenever ur satisfied that it won't send) delete it out of out box, because u won't receive new emails till its deleted, cause its repeatly trying to send I guess.
Can a mod pls change the title of this thread to something like "yes you can upload any file type in gmail" or something like that so people know this is a how too and not a question. thanks.
can u download from the web or not

Yes g1 in its stock form will let u download "known file types". installing linda file mgr installs a plug in that let's you download any file type. What I am telling u how to do is upload, that is send any attachment you want though gmail.
ASTRO 1.3.11 includes this plugin for the browser download as well. question is now, How do I download pdfs and the like using the GMail program... I can preview the file. How do I save it?

You can't dl them in the gmail app, but you can go to gmail.com in ur browser, when u click on the pdf (or any other file type for that matter) it will automattically download it to ur sd card
Been looking around for a way to change the User Agent of an application.. ? can anyone point me in the right direction?
p.s: I am rooted, and i searched through the forums
You'd have to open up/decompile the .apk, find the file that it's stored in, edit it, recompile/repack and install.
thanks!
what file to edit in particular?
Not a clue, I suspect you'll have to look through the folders 'til you find it.
What are you trying to do?
Apps check with the build prop to see what your is/has and then shows it the appropriate info/features.
Yeah what apk are you trying to change the user agent? mms.apk? ect...
I am trying to "trick" a webserver to think that i am coming from a specific application.. this application has its own UA identifier..
If the server saw any other identifier, it won't display the results of a webquery.
The apk is an app i did in appinventor..
bump anyone?
Anyone know of a way to delete the bookmarks that fall under the Local section of the internet browser? When I long press and select delete, it says unable to delete.

hi! I've been trying to download files using my browser. I also tried to download videos (it usually downloads streaming videos when you choose 'internet' for the action.. but it always fails at start -- 0kb.
I used opera mini, chrome, and stock browser and still having the same results.
when I'm on repencis 3.5 or stock rom, I don't get this prob. but with other roms (now I'm using blackstar 2.1), it happens.
I'm wondering if there's any mod that makes this happen or any script I could do to solve this?
I already tried deleting ALL files in init.d folder and still nothing. any help will do. thanks!
Extract your rom and go to System>Etc
Look if you have a hosts file.
Open it with notepad.
Delete everything.
Replace it with this:
#
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain
255.255.255.255 broadcasthost
::1 localhost
127.0.0.1 local

Not sure if it will work though.

Is there any way to enable MobileData toggle on 4.4.2 Canadian Galaxy s4 (i337m)
In the T-Mobile forums I found this tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43042030#post43042030
But when I try to edit with SQLite Editor, it displays an Error (Error 14)
Well... I tried other way to edit via Ubuntu without success, but I have some clues based on the thread above:
In data/data/com.android.providers.settings/database you will find settings.db
Open with SQLite Database Browser and go to "Browser Data" tab
Select "System" in table and scroll down until you find this value name: notification_panel_active_app_list
In "value" you will find all the features enabled (Wifi;Location;SilentMode...etc.)
But if you put "MobileData;" after "AirplaneMode" value, save and pull to the original place fixing permissions with root explorer, you will get a eternal Samsung logo after reboot... so

What I did was replace system.apk and system.odex. backed them up and replaced with system.apk grin Maple Leaf ROM.
This showed me to use the sqlite editor method.
