I don't know much about safestrap unfortunately. If you use the forum search and type in MDOB it will pop up. Another ROM by iB4STid is GoldenEye. They work super great. Your gonna have to search around for safestrap I don't think its ROM specific.
Safestrap is still new to are S4 but so far most of the roms that MDL are using can be used with Safestrap as well as a few of the "other carrier" roms .as long as u flash the MF3 kernel module zip that you should flash after any rom u decide to use.as always read the Safestrap threads for more details. yeah, mdob did have an ad blocker. i switched to the deadly venom 8.1. it doesn't have an ad blocker

Don't use the adblocker called adblock for it. You can check it out at adblock.org. it works great but you can't send any MMS when you install it and it's a pain to get MMS to work again afterwards.

Sixaxis Controller is an amazing app for any gamer. It allows you to sync a Sixaxis controller (PS3 Dual Shock 3) via bluetooth rather than having to connect it directly into your device with an OTG cable.
This is awesome because you can use the controller wirelessly and use an MHL 2.0 adapter to play on the bigscreen. Sixaxis Controller also allows you to emulate touch and create your own profiles for each individual controller button. Making games that aren't compatible with controller's work. (Modern Combat 4, Order & Chaos, Ravensword, etc.) You can find game mapping here on XDA for the app.
Greenify is great for saving battery life and keeping your phone nice and speedy. It disallows apps you choose to run in the background uncontrolled; definitely an app for any rooted user!
If you flashed your kernel as well I'd recommend Trickster Mod, It's a pretty generic tweaker. The built in profiles can help tremendously in saving battery life, and game performance for helping with frame rate issues (though the S4 shouldn't have any). Depending on your kernel you can also use the tool to OC (Overclock) your CPU, GPU, and voltages. But be very careful if you decide to do any OC'ing, as it could brick your device.
Titanium Backup is great for uninstalling any bloatware you may have on your OS (if you're using stock TW that's rooted). You can also make backups of your system for recoveries. The pro version offers a lot more good features, if you want to pay for it.
Root Browser is a nice neat file manager for rooted users. It has built is ROM features as well as being able to deal with opening and zipping .jar, .zip, .apk, etc. It's really nifty.

I have SuperSU installed, I will try a root explorer to check out if it actually works.
On another note, does anyone know how to get to the app switcher? it seems to be removed from the home button.
EDIT: SuperSU does not work at all, still no way to root. I read that it was due to binaries needing to be updated for the new version.

EDIT: Confirmed!
I'm seeing the ROMs for the I9505, can that one be flashed or is there one specifically for I337 yet? As well, right now I have the KT-SGS4-TW Loki'd kernel with the 4.2 GE ROM on it, would I just be able to flash the 4.3 over that, or should a different kernel be used? And finally, more of a beginner question, loosing root won't mess with the custom recovery, will it? I'll still be able to access TWRP to flash something different?
The 4.3 download named "Android-4.3-I9505GUEUBMFP-Deodexed-I9505.zip" appears malicious <-- my pc says this is malicious. can anyone else confirm this is a safe download. this is from the "ATT-sgh-i337 android development" section of this forum. Does anyone know of such a ROM that I can have root, download, deodex, and debloat (but no mods) for the SGH-I337? I'd like to run a pure stock rooted ROM without bloat. I do not want the modded (black) apps with the messaging and etc. Just the full on debloated stock experience with root privileges. No, I do not want a competition with whatever ROM is best as I do not intend to start an argument about it. So, in that case, does anyone have suggestions or the link to another XDA thread? Also, please make sure that it's latest stock for AT&T. Thanks everyone!

Ya could try this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2364635 however how you flash it will depend on what firmware your running now. If your mdf then refer to the safestrap threads for proper flsshing procedures and if yur mdl then follow loki directions. Hope this helps

I've been using MDOB for a month or so and it is great. Great battery life, smooth, debloated stock, excellent support -- a great ROM. -- Bud
Let me tell ya I have owned hd2, gs2, gs3, gs4, nexus s , nexus 4,atrix hd,transformer 300tf, galaxy tab 2 7.0 galaxy tab 2 10.1, nexus 7, note 2 ,note 10.1, and note 8.0.
I always go for stock based ROMs for stability. For I instal tons of apps that I get issues one after another on custom. I try ROMs after another update after another. This was like a routine which could be enjoyable but annoying sometimes for ur times limited.
With I337, I tried one ROM and I felt no need or urge to flash or even try another. I just could not find flaws or problem with this one.
Which ROM is this?
MDOB!

I am so glad it has been working great for ya. I really wish other android devices that I use also had ROMs like MDOB.
Those add-ons listed on devs post for MDOB also work great as well for they are usually stock/hidden features. For example, torch light is from hidden stock menu and addon will unlock and enable it for you. Addon like in call recording is not an external third party app but it is like unlocking call recording menu within the stock dial/call pad which comes in very handy and convenient. If you have questions then the dev will try to help you promptly. I had minor issues but it was because I did not know how to use the features on ROM correctly. Of coarse the dev tried to help me find solutions along the way. He' s just a great guy and I feel lucky to have him here on gs4 community.

Was about to post same question!
Hi there,
Thanks for this thread and the answers. I was searching for exactly this topic.
I would like to try the MDOB ROM, as it sounds like what I am looking for.
The current MDOB ROM is based on the *MF3 firmware. Is this an issue? I am reading about the AT&T bootloader lock and loki fix that was added in to MF3, plus other custom ROMs that list either a broken sound or broken Wi-Fi as a known issue with MF3.
Are these issues fixed in this ROM (and how?) I don't want to loose TWRP and/or WiFi.
Thanks for any clarification,
Gemini420
MDOB is based on the lastest stock MF3 however it would not give u problems that you would face from updating to notorious MF3 stock.
If I am not mistaken you are supposed to have UCUAMDL stock rooted with custom recovery twrp (preferably i337 version listed on the MDOB page) prior to flashing MDOB.
Check out installation or flashing instruction on the MDOB for more info. The dev points to several things you should watch out for. I just followed the guide and my phone has been running pefectly ever since. Well I wish u Good luck.
Edit: Though I never had any issues with custom recovery and wifi, you might wanna ask there and see if such issues exist on MDOB.

I've never rooted a phone before and I'm a little nervous about doing so. I don't fully understand the difference between all the various ROM's. For instance are there advantages and disadvantages between the different ROMs that are floating around? Also what happens when 4.4 comes out? I'm assuming I'd be blocked from Updating. Would I have to wait until someone releases a 4.4 ROM? The main reason I want to Root is to remove all the useless apps Samsung/Tmobile stuck on my phone, but when I check out the processes, I don't even see that they are running. Would it even be worth it to root if this is the only reason I am doing it for?
I also see people talking about removing TouchWiz once they are rooted. I already am using Nova, but if I remove TouchWiz, will I just have the basic Android UI like I had on my Nexus? Or will I have to stick with a 3rd party launcher? Does removing TouchWiz result in a noticeable speed difference?
Hey rooting isn't for everyone. You could root and get rid of certain apps and bloatware. What I did before rooting was just disable and hide those apps.
It was fine but then as root user for a long time, I rooted and now use it more to tweak the look and feel.
The best way to know a rom is to try it.
I have used alot on this forum but currently feel comfortable with Omega Rom v6 with Wanam Xposed.
The possibilities are endless and as long as you understand the Knox flag then you should be free to try and do what you will.
Last if you ever want to just go back to stock and leave it there with updates it's pretty easy.
Sam mobile has always the latest updates available to download and you install those with Odin.
Good luck

Nevermind actually, I figured out how to turn them off from the App info screen. But is there a way to hide them so they don't show up at all?

Now That I am finally rooted, I want to ask my fellow Note 3 users what are some awesome Root apps to install?
I already have and know the basics like greenify, titanium back up, es explorer and some others. But, I'm wondering if there is anything like S-Pen apps? I am probably going to install Xposed framework, since I loved using it on my GNEX.
I have yet to try any roms out yet, but Hyperdrive or beans looks like it is going to be one of the first I try. Those seem to have a nice mix of customs options in it, while also being bug free.

Initially safestrap was developed to provide multi ROM support. It would say enabled only when ROM slot is used.
On i337, KitKat Roms only works with stock slot and so you can ignore that message.
For WiFi, you need to flash the NC1 modules.
For data, you would have to configure the APN

ok i finally got my phone up and running with hyperdrive 18...the only issue now is the hyperdrive tweaks are not working???? so i ended up doing the hyperdrive 18.1 update and flashed that...everything fine again now except the tweaks still????
My guess is that flashing the att buildprop apn file is messing up tweaks. Reinstall without doing the att build.prop APN flash. The dev has supposedly built in at support so the separate buildprop flash should not be needed. Just select att during installation.
